Jolyon Maugham says his wife was targeted in changing room

I wonder if there is an alternative universe where we are still in the EU and Maugham is still a tax lawyer.

The Maugham's have two children who identify as trans, and have gone down the medical route. They need to think they are right, or they will need to face what they have facilitated for their children.

I know nothing of Mrs M or I didn't until today, anyway. Could she herself have made her cancer, and consequently her double mastectomy, public? Some people do go public with such things for a host of reasons. If so, Jolyon wouldn't be breaching her privacy.

But what really struck me was that she must surely have been in a women's single sex changing room in order to be challenged? If it was mixed sex anybody could use it, therefore no challenge.

So what are the Maughams doing using single sex changing spaces, with their pro-trans & gender ID beliefs, when they should be flag bearers for mixed sex spaces?

I find it interesting that the Maughams are loaded but Claire seems to be using swimming baths that allow any old riff-raff and ''vigilantes'' in. I always imagined the stinking rich would use private, swanky ones where everyone knows everyone.

Maybe he feels marooned in a sea of cognitive dissonance, because his ideology suggests that his wife's mastectomy means that she's now a man, and he's now in a same-sex marriage. But he knows that she's still a woman. So confusing for poor Jolyon trying to make sense of his fantasy world.

He's such a strange man-he's been having a month long mantrum all because women's rights don't belong to men.

CM's BS posts show she seems to think it is GC's who believe having body parts removed turns a woman into a man (as if it's not gender ideology that has teenagers and women removing their breasts to become 'men' or 'neither sex'.)

I saw this yesterday and just thought “bollocks”. Then I thought what an utter prick using his wife’s illness to prove a nonsense point. If she was challenged as a man in the ladies changing room I would be very surprised (she doesn’t look like a man breasts or no breasts). Then I saw her comments about expecting it to happen to her and just thought “bollocks” again.

I don’t believe he thought through his post at all.

Exactly. Most of us have come across mastectomies in our friends and families.

I can't see how I would mistake anyone with them for a man. In fact the argument even then doesn't make sense. At worst you might think a person with those scars a trans man (and therefore a woman) which would be fine in a women's changing room.

So is it about the scars or being flat chested - because I was very much so in my skinny younger days and no one thought I was a man despite wearing jeans and hoodies and having short hair.

The more I hear about JM the more I think he is a prize nob, but parading his wifes' cancer diagnosis and double mastectomy on the internet as some sort of weird made up 'look what happened isn't it terrible?' is a new low even by his standards.

Not the first time he's been a tad creepy about personal things pertaining to his wife. This has a bit of the same energy as the kimono anecdote, notwithstanding that appeared to be true whereas he's obviously bullshitting here. Her breasts, her nightwear, her changing room experience. All to be shared with millions of people, for clout, on his huge social media platform. I can't put my finger on it exactly but I don't like it.

What's the bet Jolyon is raging at any sympathy offered towards his wife after this alleged occurrence - he's the one hard done by in all of this!

A double mastectomy does not make you look like a man. It makes you look like a woman who has had a double mastectomy.

Oh god, I've met RMW in real life. If I met him in the toilet I wouldn't challenge him, not because I'd be perfectly happy to welcome him into a women's space, but because I'd be scared to challenge a man (especially in a secluded space).

I wonder what the Maughams talk about round the dinner table in the evening. I hadn't realised his wife was also posting away about this, but not surprising, given they have apparently swung behind two trans-identified children now.

I don't get this. If she had a mastectomy then it must mean she was mistaken for a transman ie a female. But then she is still in the right changing room for her sex. It wouldn't therefore be a "terf" that challenged her. Did a TRA think she was a traitor for not using the men's?
