A trans woman is on the sort list to represent Unison’s female disabled members on their executive committee

I'm guessing the men would be pleased with the outcome and the women, well, they obviously don't care what women think.

I'm not in a unionised sector so have never had the "benefit" of representation. I'm always curious about why unions are needed - but if you have always had one I suppose it is difficult to drop it? Like insurance - you mostly don't need it but there will be that one time you do...

There I was thinking men invading women’s spaces and taking their jobs, sports prizes etc was a serious problem of its own. And that rich people failing to pay enough tax was a totally different and unrelated problem.

But now I understand that anything harmful men do to women is not a problem.

My local rep (male)has been very vocal objecting to the Supreme Court ruling and calling for challenge. I have left unison because of it, they weren’t bothered, their reply suggested that I may regret my decision if I need representation.

I voted in this election - there was one female disabled members seat and one general disabled members seat.

I don't think it would be wise to repeat it here as it's defamatory and unevidenced. It can be found by searching X for flatmate and Waple, however.

I'm not a nurse but similar need union backing , so I joined GMB as seen a cracking GC rep Helen O'Connor I think her name is. They have the woke boys but she is fab so I figure if anything happens, she might help us.

Makes me so angry the years I paid into that union and the unpaid hours I gave them as a rep. F🤬 them. They all voted amongst themselves . All the same people got sent to conference etc and it still happens. No doubt I will not be the only one on this page. Makes me so angry. Aye I don't bother with them anymore- they despise women. Unison had better have a word with their lawyers and review their rules. They cannot reserve a place on a list for women and allow a transwoman to take a place but not other men. Both sexes or one sex, no mix'n'match. Them's the rules.

It might need a man to bring a case forward under employment discrimination (which also applies to trade unions) but there might be some other bit of the Equality Act 2010 that applies directly to this situation, same as it applies to not counting transwomen towards women's places on public boards in Scotland. Which was exactly the case that came to the Supreme Court and the Scottish government were told "no you can't do that".

Can you point to a union in the same sector that ISN'T captured? It's all a nightmare.

I can't remember the exact wording but it was a female seat.

I've done some googling and it looks like it was indeed a woman's seat so as PP have said, illegal. Idiots. I hope he gets in and the other candidates sue.

More likely its just a play from unison to still be seen to be toeing the TRA line but they will hire a woman to comply with the law and deprive us of the satisfaction of them peaking a chunk of their members.

Do we know if their membership has declined noticably in recent years or at key points in this battle? Would be interesting to know.

I voted and I certainly didn't vote for him. I'm hoping the majority of members did the same.

Is it illegal? Was the position specified as for women? (In that case then obvs yes) But it is actually illegal (other then just fucking stupid) for a man to represent women in this way?

Already declaring his mission to re educate women, silence their unwanted voices, and largely use his role to direct womanhood into the narrow channel most convenient to him. As always.
