Just watched KJK talking about all things trans on a Tanya De Grunwald podcast ( great podcast) - she says she is banned from mumsnet? I just wondered why she was banned.

Glinner tweet:
"They're fighting the men who killed little girls in Manchester, concert goers in Paris, thousands on 9/11 and countless numbers of their own people. Israel is fighting for all of us."

I know that this isn't really connected to KJK, but there is a correlation between Islamophobia and the far right, and I find the above tweet disgusting for many reasons.

It’s not at all related to KJK.

JohnnyRememberMe · 18/05/2025 13:12

I'm no fan of Glinner, but he's allowed to criticise Hamas in the same breath as other Islamist terrorists.

It doesn't make him a 'phobe.

I mean Donald Trump understands that sex is biological there are only 2 sexes. It doesn’t mean he’s a great person to have associated with the cause and he’s sure as hell not a feminist.

Really hope you’re not a vegetarian. There have been some very not nice people who were vegetarian and you wouldn’t want to be aligned with them by having an opinion in common.

I really hope for consistency’s sake you tell all the vegetarians you meet how terrible it is that they’ve aligned with hitler, who also thought vegetarianism had benefits.

Bingo! Got Trump wedged in to the discussion already 😂
These threads are sooo predictable.

illinivich · 18/05/2025 12:49

KJK isnt liked by an element of soc feminists because she criticised primary school children wearing the hijab. And she is more uncompromising about trans ideology than those social feminists.

TRA dont like KJK because shes a woman speaking against TRA.

Thats two groups active on mn and very authoritarian were policing and reporting every single thing she said.

Its what made lang a target too. Her feminism is safeguarding first and the warnings around protected class made her a target by lots of groups.

musicalfrog · 18/05/2025 12:49

Goodness me. Since when has agreeing on a subject become 'being associated with?

Some posters here obviously love censorship!

There are times when aligning with past enemies is the lesser of two evils in order to fight and defeat a common threat. A example of this being UK and Russian relations where they have been both allies and enemies at various times.

If the GC debate has taught me anything over the years, it’s that this issue crosses all political divides.

KJK is articulate and admirably calm when debating with TRAs. But, whether you like it or not, she has faced criticism relating to allegations of racism, white supremacy, and ties to far-right anti-LGBT groups.

The Christian Far Right are NOT people I want to be associated with. Thinking MN probably don’t either. Hence my explanation to the OP - just “telling it like it is” 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think you might want to leave Mumsnet then, as you don’t want to be associated with organisations that opponents try to create false links.

Mumsnet is a hive of right wing, anti trans cis women who hate, yes hate LBGTQ+ people - who knew? The fact that Mumsnet has had to navigate a very difficult path over the last few years and they got it wrong sometimes - definitely. They were not gracious when they were called on it - absolutely. They tried and for that I’m very grateful.

The people who called KJK a right wing Christian (despite being atheist) etc are the same people who called Mumsnet Terfs (as an abuse) and like Mumsnet, KJK tried. Without the people/organisations who tried, we would not have got the SC ruling.

Most have been falsely aligned with extremism of one sort - by extremists (Darvo there maybe) but I am very happy to align myself (feminism wise) with a spectrum of people - very great women. KJK, many mumsnet women on the feminist board, Maya, Sandy Peggie, FWS, JKR and very many more. Have some had their words twisted and distorted - yes. Have some made an odd error - yes. Were they overwhelmingly right yes! I admire them.

Lots of people understand biological reality but it doesn't make them gender critical feminists

IllustratedDictionaryOfTheDoldrums · 18/05/2025 12:25

Nonsense. This is not Islamophobia. These were real attacks in which real people died. Glinner is free to speak about this as is anyone else. This is a thread about KJK and trying shoehorn in Islamophobia on the basis of Glinner condemning actual terrorist attacks is an absolute reach and completely inappropriate.

Well it is Islamophobia if Glinner is suggesting that the Palestinian people committed those attacks. None of those attackers was Palestinian. And Israel isn't fighting the Palestinians because of Islam.

Hopefully people are capable of critical thinking and know that it is totally possible to agree with some but not all of some peoples opinions?

I disagree with her on a few things, and agree strongly on others, but by fuck has she got her finger on the pulse with 'Let women speak'. It's such a simple concept. Any woman can speak and the absolute fury that brings is a great shining spotlight on what has gone wrong.

Absolutely this

I think you might find that those very same accusations were presented to a defamation court judge who ruled that they were not reasonable accusations in the Moira Deeming case.

If I were you, I would perhaps stop spreading misinformation based on your own biased views. And no, I am also not part of the Christian far right or any of the accusations you have made. I just look at what she has said and done and what she has been accused of saying and doing to understand why accusations such as you have made are based on little substance.

It is a ludicrous implied accusation of guilt by association to then make to anyone who starts to point out the discrepancy in the accusation to the truth in regards to KJK, and indeed the entire MN platform. It shows an inclination towards having rather entrenched prejudices.

I too am 'just telling it like it is' [shrug].

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 18/05/2025 12:28

ChocolateGanache · 18/05/2025 11:57

She’s quite far right Christian aligned as well as being GC. Not the best advert for the cause of feminism!

There was a time when any suggestions around trans ideology and safeguarding, especially child safeguarding, was deleted pretty quickly.

And because there are a lot of safeguarding compromises in gender ideology, a lot of women ended up with a lot of deletions. Then mn banned posters for having multiple deleted post.

Some people want to dismiss safeguarding as an 'ism' and use gender ideology in the same way.

Yes, this was very much it. I think it's also easy to forget how much pressure MN was under in those early years to allow women to speak openly at all. I am sorry we couldn't all speak more openly but I understand that they were constantly under attack.
Also, not going to engage further with the derailers

CassOle · 18/05/2025 12:27

So, KJK, who has openly discussed being a Labour voter for most of her adult life (until GII came along) and is an atheist, has suddenly become a fundamentalist far-right Christian when she spoke to 'the wrong type of person'?

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 18/05/2025 12:27

TheOtherRaven · 18/05/2025 11:32

KJK pulls no punches, takes no shit and says it like it is.

That was more than enough.

Lang was axed for very politely saying inconvenient truths about safeguarding.

Lang being banned is still mental.

A woman of Lang’s calibre being banned cos of some pathetic TRAs whinging.
Outrageous, really.

I'm very fed up with the constant association of Christian with Far Right. There are a very large number of people in the world who call themselves Christians. How many are Far Right, and how many are to the left of that? I know many Christians who have never voted for any right of centre party, and who align with most left wing policies.

I wholeheartedly agree with this (I think Christ was one of the biggest leftists in history!) But the point about KJK associating with the far-right still stands...

IllustratedDictionaryOfTheDoldrums · 18/05/2025 12:17

Nope. Getting into social, political smd media bubbles is one of the reasons we are in this mess.
The early days of the gender wars pretty much consisted of women speaking up, being accused of not doing so politely enough and dismissed. Repeat ad infinitum. It's why such a strongly anti-woman movement got so far.
We need to debate people on what they are actually saying and in good faith, instead of dismissing them because they sometimes talk to people we disagree with.
