MON THE NURSES!!!!!! Royal College of Nurses supports the Darlington Nurses!

'The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) accused the County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust of breaching workplace health and safety law by not prohibiting a trans nurse from using female changing rooms.
The union intervened amid a legal battle between the trust and eight of its nurses, who are opposing its decision to allow Rose Henderson, who was born male, to use women-only facilities.
In a letter seen by The Telegraph, the RCN in March pointed to the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992, which require all changing rooms to be male or female-only except when they are “single lockable rooms”.
“The RCN expects the trust to comply with these statutory provisions and provide single-sex changing rooms without delay,” the letter reads.'

At least it talks about treating all patients, staff & visitors with respect.

Supreme Court decision
Last month, the Supreme Court ruled that 'sex means biological sex for the purposes of the Equality Act 2010, providing clarity on the interpretation of the Act. This ruling is likely to have a number of implications for public bodies, including the NHS.

We are now working closely with Government to review our policies and guidance, and ensure we can provide an update as soon as possible. While this might take a little time, it's important we get this right and we will work with the wider NHS throughout this process.

As the NHS our values remain the same, and we are fully committed to treating all our patients, staff and visitors with respect. Every patient deserves high quality care that meets their needs and upholds their privacy and dignity. We also owe it to our staff to ensure they are safe and comfortable at work.

Really need the idiots at the BMA to wake up and smell the roses. The problem is that they've been strongly influenced by the sort of young extreme left wing members who find TRA activism to be a great way to hate women but still seem woke.

I have just read Friday's update which includes this little gem.

Where to start?

  • No one is assigned a gender at birth.
  • Males do not take oestrogens as hormone replacement therapy.
  • Transwomen are at risk of prostate cancer because they are men. As such a small percentage of transwomen have genital reconstructive surgery the issue isn't the non-removal of the prostate gland for those who do.

I don’t have a massive amount of respect for these organisations. They’ve stood by and watched women getting thrown under a bus for the last decade. Oh but now, when the tide is clearly turning, suddenly they’re all over the law, being all supportive of their members, telling them ‘we’ve got your backs’. Bunch of spineless hypocritical weasels the lot of them.

My experience of my union (not RCN) is that there's a big difference between what activists say/do (eg. LGBT conference motions stating TWAW) and what the paid legal staff do. I imagine this intervention will have come from the legal team who actually understand the law and implications of the SC judgment. The activists will be fuming.
That doesn't explain how they got it so wrong on Peggie though.

Although in February they declined to support Sandie Peggie, I think? Not sure of the timelines.

They came off X in December, possibly because of the pushback ... I suppose a lot of this is happening quietly- this letter was sent in March and has only just come to light.

Im not a nurse but I think up to nurses whether they trust RCN who refused to support sandie and didn't seem to rush to help the Darlington nurses. And this reverse ferret isn't the bravest move, after the SC judgement they couldn't really do anything less than this.

If I were a nurse I think the Darlington nurses union would be a better choice!

If you've time, go look at the ladies doing the NHS audit. Their work is immense and I'm sure it will be absolutely invaluable in helping bring this nonsense to an end.

I’m just all warm and fuzzy that the days of women having to accommodate men’s entitlement and personality disorders are coming to an end. I won’t forgive or forget, but I’ll enjoy watching the backpedaling and imagining how painful it was for them to write.

Blimey, a glimmer of hope there. Like some other posters, my first thought was that it's because they don't want to lose members, along with money and influence. Is it too much to hope that the zealots at the top might be replaced, do you think?
