I have also seen 8 as a rule and that’s what we used with our own children.

I don’t know if it’s a hard and fast rule or not but I’ve seen 8 as a rule in some places and I’ve used that. But if I’m expected to send my tiny 9yo son into men’s toilets and assume he will be safe then trans women should be able to put their big girl pants on and deal with the same toilets as actual adults.

I keep a file because I am genuinely interested in design solutions. I would like to know what design solutions Robin can come up with.

RMW said something like if little boys can go in with their mums, why can’t I?

1. RMW is admitting they’re male here.
2. RMW is an adult male, not a boy.

Maybe having very thin skin is perceived as a feminine trait.

It is wonderful this has given clarity for single sex toilets. Single sex toilets are the safest because their design can contains door gaps. Anyone at their most vulnerable (either through a heart attack, seizure, stroke, drug overdose, self harm, being attacked) needs to be seen from outside the cubicle in order to be helped. The Supreme Court ruling that women’s toilets are for women only and men’s toilets are for men only will help anyone who is at their most vulnerable.

Mixed sex toilet designs don’t have door gaps.

When people can’t rely on single sex meaning single sex, they value privacy more in design and the gaps go.

This Supreme Court clarity has the ability to save lives and prevent assaults because of toilet design.

I may have missed something but it looks as if the arguments that the SC judgement are wrong appear to rest on 1. the fact that mothers sometimes take their young sons into women's toilets so middle aged men must be allowed to use them as well? Oh and 2. that women's toilets are for women and certain men. Women who object for pre allowed reasons like religion, abuse etc may be provided with separate single sex toilets ?

Tbh, if that's the extent of the legal insight into this, I think women and decent men can rest easy that the SC is not going to be overturned by whining men.

Absolutely this. I have no idea why that thread was deleted, I was reading it, it was no different to any other thread about anyone else that puts themselves into the public eye. But I was also on another another thread a few weeks ago discussing transwomen which was deleted. It's almost as if mumsnet doesn't want us, the majority of whom are actually women, to discuss transwomen.

Great shame - it was a good thread. I especially enjoyed the reactions to RMW's suggestion that women who didn't want to share spaces like loos with TIM could be offered a "third space" that was single sex. The man's a genius!!

Presumably Robin is watching this one too so perhaps come on and debate?

Guessing the deletion might have been because of some remarks about RMW's appearance and/or motivations. Which could perhaps have been construed as disobliging 🤷

I didn't listen on purpose (for my mental health) and was relying on the courage of other posters to listen for me, to examine the points, so I could listen later.

In most sports and leisure centres it is 8 years old, which if I recall aligns with the school requirements for changing and toilet facilities.

I read a bit of the deleted thread. There were some personal remarks that RMW likely objected to. Plus, someone posted the link to Naomi Cunningham’s review of RMW’s book. 😬 It’s a shame the whole thread was deleted because posters’ reactions as they listened live were interesting.

I disagree. If he is allowed to go on the fucking radio and spout shit, we should be allowed to discuss the things he's saying.
