Awful news to read on this thread this morning. And it seems to the only, or at least the best way to combat it is an much publicity as possible. How the NHS is treating staff like Karen is disgraceful. And as for the fucking chocolate fireguard unions, the less said about them the better. They have almost all dismally failed in their core purpose.

There are so many articulate posts and voices on here that I feel like I'm filling up the thread with a meaningless plop with this post. But I am so fucking angry and despairing.

To Karen, the Darlington nurses, Sandie Peggie, Cerys Vaughan and too many more .... your bravery will become legend.

If you read the comments under the article, the overwhelming majority of them are supportive of Karen, and the most supportive comments have been "upvoted" hundreds of times. It's quite obvious that ordinary, decent people have no truck with this vile ideology that forces sexually abused women to undress in front of males who have inserted themselves in a female changing room.

This ideology is being pushed by a few deranged misogynists and their handmaiden allies, who have ended up running NHS trusts, universities, police forces, schools and the like. (Plus the handful of women-haters who post on Reddit forums and occasionally pop up on here peddling their disgusting views.) It's not something that normal people support, but unfortunately normal people don't have the power to do anything about it.

Is there anything we can do to support the Darlington nurses, Karen in particular? I was one of many who sent a card of support to Sandie Peggie. I'd love to do the same for Karen, if anyone knows the best address (eg whether it's the hospital, her lawyers or somewhere else).

As as aside, it's little wonder that the men on Reddit are calling Karen a bigot. Incels, losers, perverts, bullies and just common or garden pigs will all find each other and congregate there.

The silver lining is, of course, that these are the same or similar people who are responding to the EHRC consultation.

If operation let them speak has done nothing else, it's shown that this pervy, misogynistic batshittery only goes one way in strengthening the conviction of the people who understand it.

It took legal fucking action for her to have dignity during an operation. I want to burn things down. Really.

This, of course, is something these nurses can't/refuse to get their heads round. The lack of empathy and compassion is off the charts but of course they see themselves as the victims. Ugh.

How did the NHS get captured like this? This is not an isolated incident and I know from doctor and nurse friends that the same dangerous lunacy would be applauded and upheld in their trusts too (they are mostly captured themselves and would support it).

I did look, and although upsetting it's kind of helpful to see that you're dealing with people almost entirely without empathy and totally focused on themselves. It confirms how tough women need to be to maintain their rights.

When I needed gynae care, I got a phone call from the department admin - they'd sent out a letter allocating my hysteroscopy to a male doctor, but had just noticed my request for a female doctor.

They could do that, but it would delay the procedure. I acquiesced to seeing a man.

What an awful, awful situation for poor Karen to have been forced into; not just being forced to change with despicable Rose.

I imagine she didn't tell her children about her horrific experiences, so as to protect them. Now, she's had to tell them that it's all come out in the newspaper and to explain how and why.

I don't hold out much hope, but all the bastards who have put her and her colleagues in this impossible situation ought to hang their heads in shame. They ought to be sacked, but sadly, I don't see that happening.

Saying that Rose would be happy to re-educate the nurses just proves he’s not the poor vulnerable transwoman we’re always told they are. Can you imagine any other work situation where the persecuted individual - who was being bullied or singled out for being female/gay/not white - would be asked to educate the bully in person on why they have rights? And them being happy to do so? It would be utterly unacceptable and offensive.
