Several women my age (50 ish) were saying the same about their work places. Everyone was eye rolling I am glad to report and pretty pissed off at the “thoughts and prayers” tone when none of the corporates even pretend to give a stuff about women.

I’m also sick of seeing intersex brought into the argument, like it’s proof of some kind of sexual ‘continuum’. It isn’t. It’s also a genetic phenomenon, unlike identifying as a different gender from your biological sex. The two are completely separate issues.

In my experience, the people chanting “be kind” are usually being unkind to the person they are speaking to! What it generally means is “disregard your feelings for those of others” and is almost only ever expected of women. When did you last hear men being told to “be kind”?

And yet I have actual girl friends who seem to think gc ladies are causing all the problems.

Funny how the “be kind” mantra only seems to work in certain directions. No one has been particularly kind to GC women - quite the opposite.

It's insane.

I don't understand how so many people including so many women, are on board with all of this. Like with pronouns in signatures for eg, it can only ever be the very self absorbed TW who want to actually make a big deal about thus, and also somehow lots of otherwise normal people who want to...look cool? Signal certain values??? I have friends who have drunk this kool aid and one who has spoken so patronisingly to me about it. I have direct experience in the area, spoken to many TW. I have spoken up, I have, a couple times, in two different organisations and what I learned is that it does my career no good to do so :_(, gentle admonishment, nothing more than that, but still. It is all so harmful to women, girls, boys, the LGB community, TM and just regular TW who have always been around and want to live their lives with no intention of jettisoning the rights of the majority sex on this planet.

And the worst part of all of this is the number of WOMEN saying how awful it is and ‘speaking up’ about their support of TW. What about other women???

I'm actually really livid about it all now. This proves without a shadow of a doubt how seeped in misogyny pretty much the entire country is. All these sad faces and statements being rolled out across so many of our institutions for a small subset of men and nothing supporting women.

We are seen as sub-human without a shadow of a doubt. We had to fight to make sure our dignity, privacy and safety was assured in vulnerable situations but no words of comfort or understanding for what we go through on a daily, weekly, monthly basis. No statements saying that the ruling is protecting our sex based rights. Nothing acknowledging what women have been through for so long under misogyny and this horrible ideology. It's just crickets. Fuck them. I actually am done. I hold all of them in contempt.
