If trans women wanted to help gender non conforming women from being challenged in women’s spaces, they could stay out of them, thereby restoring the understanding that only women are in women’s spaces.

The easiest way to deal with this is to have clear social norms where only women go into women’s spaces. Once we have established this as a baseline - and we have not yet done this, just look at all the Reddit threads of people saying they will defy the law - it will be much easier to manage.

Never ceases to amaze me how wilful some people are in refusing to understand what being critical of gender means. Trump and co are not critical of gender, they bloody love gender, they just want it enforced in the traditional way. Obviously. Feminists who are critical of gender don’t want it enforced at all, in the traditional way or in the TRA way.

I am not sure why this story of a man entering a woman’s space and acting aggressively towards women is meant to persuade us that it is ok for men to use women’s toilets?

The woman in question looks and sounds like they've abnormally high testosterone. Whether naturally or not, who knows. I can see why the security guard felt the need to ask the question.

This happened to my ex, and my EX ex, since they were children.
I actually began a thread about tips for handling it, about two years ago and had a tonne of vitriol in the comments, including some vile ones such as 'We see you, you trans agenda people' or something like that. It was VILE and the first thread that ever upset me, in decades of being on mn.

The latest argument for allowing men into women's spaces is that if you try to stop them, vaguely masculine women may get questioned.

Oh gosh... and considering the number of male people who have been posting all over social media that they will continue to use female toilets when they know that they should not be, some even forming groups to make little videos about doing it, will those male people take responsibility now that their direct actions are leading to women being fearful more than ever?

That would be great. I expect you, Chris to go over and tell them all to stop with the intimidation on their social media. I even saw one ask a male person now charged and about to face court in Florida how best to get caught in the female toilet so they too can make it a protest arrest.

I am occasionally stopped at the doors of a supermarket because the security alarm goes off. The security guard stops me, checks my reciept, acknowledges it is a mistake and we both move on with our day.

If the security guard is aggressive I would complain about his conduct.

I didn't and wouldn't demand that supermarkets get rid of all their anti-theft mechanisms because of an occasional glitch in the system as I recognise that preventing theft benefits all of us over and above my personal inconvenience.

I think a woman would really have to go to some effort to be mistaken for a man, and then for the mistake not to be immediately apparent upon her speaking.
