I ultimately don't have a problem with the result as such. I didn't like it but I could live with it.

I had a problem with the lengths people went to prove they understood the vote and ignored the reality of practical considerations (Good Friday Agreement and Article 50 implementation for starters) as politicians who needed to understand these things. .

They didn't on both counts (understanding what people wanted) and implementation of the vote and it left us in political turmoil for years because they couldn't be arsed listening to the boring shit details of legalities and how supply chains and trade deals work. These were not going to change regardless of your political beliefs - it was another material reality thing that people didn't want to acknowledge, so we skirted around the inconvenient truth of the Irish Border for literally years.

Whatever your feelings about the outcome 51.8% of people who voted in the referendum voted to leave and Nigel Farage seems to be stronger than ever so I don't think it's a good example.

I just don’t understand the logic. Predatory men are a danger for women. So we should let any and all men into female single sex spaces because they say they are women. Not that you are allowed to ask the question. You should just assume that a man in a single sex space is a woman. They may be of rapist gender or “at it” but that never happens or even if it does the most important thing is to respect a chosen gender identity with no question.

If you happen to be assaulted or raped by a predatory male who declares that he is a woman, it’s probably societies fault if they had been more accepting of his womanhood then he wouldn’t need to rape. It’s all right though he can now complete his metamorphosis to she and be absolved of any pesky misdemeanours like rape, new name, no criminal record.

You probably just need to check your cis privilege, reframe your trauma and understand who really are the most marginalised, victimised, misunderstood, just want to pee, people of all time.

Although I was not for indy I can absolutely see how angry and hurt you must be...because of being involved in the Scottish fight against genderism I've met a lot of women like yourself on the indy side and their feelings very much echo yours.

And whether Bryson was "true trans" or just "at it", he was enabled in predatory behaviour at the beauty course where he was enrolled by claiming to be trans - the 16-year old girls who objected were told he was a woman and they were transphobic. 16-year-old girls were not allowed to say no to a predator.

The Times has been, mostly, very good on this issue and for many years too.

To be fair, her career was trashed over a whole lot of other incompetence - ferries, missing donations, a motorhome bought and parked on her MIL's drive, deleting loads of emails during Covid - I could go on.
