"Call Jonathan Pie" BBC Radio 4 comedy

Episode 6 "Identity Crisis"

Jonathan (fictional radio talk show host) is attending a diversity training session and is basically saying all the things we would. A character in a comedy is saying things that wouldn't be countenanced on a factual programme.

If there's a side to be on that isn't women's the BBC will be on it. The News Quiz gave a rather arsey summary of the SC's judgment so no real change there.

There's still plenty of that contempt about Magentaflies. The News Quiz is often a classic example of "why can't the bigoted women just shut up?" I think it's that different programmes have different micro-cultures. Jon Holmes, who is behind The Skewer, has long been an opponent of gender ideology.

I listen to radio 4, rather than watch TV, and whilst I don’t listen avidly to the comedy on Radio 4, I used to hear quite a lot of jokes slagging sex realist women, but haven’t noticed this so much in the past couple of years. Has anyone else noticed this?

The Skewer (news satire remix) has had episodes riffing on the absurdity of gender ideology when it's been relevant to recent news.
I agree the BBC is very biased, but I have sympathy for freelance comics - they can't afford to be cancelled & lose their career overnight. Love to hear Reginald D Hunter on the topic!

The thing is, JP, and the actor who created him, are not dependent on the BBC, and appear on other media.
Like every other supposed satarist, they have sold themselves as fearless truth-tellers when they are nothing of the sort.
This has shown ALL of them up as being spineless.

Absolutely, but this is another sign that the dam is breaking. The BBC has been preventing this point of view from being aired for years. They can no longer justify pretending it’s not happening.

Just came to share this too! Thought it was a great episode. Jonathan Pie highlighting a lot of the nonsense surrounding trans issues, diversity training, pronouns etc. And it’s on the BBC!
