Banned from breastfeeding group for objecting to males breastfeeding

Hi everyone,

I gave birth a few months ago and had some breastfeeding difficulties, so joined a local breastfeeding support group in my city. It’s basically a place to go for support with feeding, plus meet other mums/have a cuppa and biscuit etc. They also have a FB group. It’s become a nice, friendly place to go once every couple of weeks.

Recently, a trans-woman (male) has joined the group asking for support because their wife has not long had a baby and the trans-woman is wishing to breastfeed too, apparently through use of hormones and domperidone (?) to stimulate supply (I did not realise this was possible at all)

I really really object to this person being present in a group of women who are seeking breastfeeding support, trying to come together in their breastfeeding experience and also revealing themselves intimately

I told the group leader my concerns and she basically told me to shove it - said that the group is a safe space for everyone and they support all who wish to breastfeed and that I shouldn’t come back because I am a bigot

I am horrified as are the other women, where do we all stand and what would you do?

I'm trigger warning this comment, in regards to stilbirth.

To me, people who are okay with men pretending they can breastfeed fall into one of two camps. Those who've never heard of autogynephilia, and those who would rather nobody else had heard of it.

It's a male sexual fetish where the idea of being a woman is sexually arousing.

There are certain different types: wearing women's clothes, entering women's spaces, etc. Trying to imitate the biological functions of a woman is another. Hence men pretending they get periods, and now pretending they can breastfeed.

There was a thread on here about a man who had joined a woman only stillbirth support group. He wanted to try and experience what it would be like to have a stillbirth.

He went to horrifying lengths to attempt pretend to experience it. He was, apparently, supported by some women.

TRAs have done a fantastic job on convincing people that this is not a fetish. Any man pretending he can experience the biology of a woman is exercising his fetish (in my opinion, HQ).

And the utterly inhumane lengths that some of these men will go to, make them bloody dangerous. A male who wants to use women's trauma and discomfort to get sexual satisfaction is monstrous.

I sincerely hope the papers pick up on this.

The disillusionment of trans ideology is spreading fast. Many people will have absolutely no problem seeing this for what it is.

Edited

Thanks for this, and thank god we can now talk about this in plain terms. Going off topic briefly, how did anybody seriously think the general public would fail to notice that the majority of trans-identified people fall into two extremely different groups:

  1. Girls and young women, many struggling with any or all of: mental health issues, being neurodivergent, bullying at school, experience of abuse, sexual harassment in and out of school, confusion about their own sexuality, growing up in a porn-soaked world.
  2. Middle-aged and older men, mostly heterosexual, mostly fathers of children.

Where are the large numbers of midlde-aged and older women transitioning now that there's no stigma? Why did we move from a position where the number of children and adults seeking health care and psychological support with gender issues was barely out of three figures across the UK and mostly male, to the position we're in now where gender clinics are swamped with thousands of patients on waiting lists, and where the majority are young and female? Why do transactivists focus almost exclusively on the poor oppressed transwoman and only mention transmen as an afterthought?

Answers on a postcard.

I went to report this post, because it's disgusting, but actually I think it's better than lurkers can see the absolute depths people enthralled in this ideology will stoop to.

Yes, some people certainly enjoy this ideology, both what it affords them, and also being able to talk about it on parenting websites, largely populated by women.

Blueskies25 · 02/05/2025 11:06

So your trans mother tried to breast feed you and abused you?

Who is protecting the baby? I think it should be illegal frankly. I could not sit by and watch somebody do that to a baby.

LadyChillT · 02/05/2025 12:45

perhaps all of the women could start bringing their male partners until mister tittyfeeder gets uncomfortable

I agree.
@snickerdoodle1990 if you and all the other mums bring your husbands along for a few weeks I wouldn't be suprised if the stunning and brave would-be lactater develops a calendar clash.

It might be easier than you having to organise a separate group.

WinterFoxes · 02/05/2025 13:59

How the hell can it be a 'safe space for everyone' if it isn't a safe space for you, an actual mother with an actual baby who is actually lactating to feed her child? Does she mean a safe space for everyone who does as they are told by men? Not my definition of a safe space.

currently at work and got a lump in my throat with my shoulders round my ears from trying to suppress my screams and wanting to throw my computer out of the window. I'm just speechless at the lengths these individuals will go to. Just stunned.

I hear ya. At least it's Friday!

It's 'about bringing their breasts to full maturity', apparently

I was totally chuffed with that development. I hope they’re not too disappointed which the practicalities of that… when DS was 1 he managed to stand on my nipple it was so distorted when he stood up after a reclined side feed. 🤣 Theres a fine line between mangled and full maturity in my experience.

“It could be something that happens in the near future, the way things are changing so quickly who knows”

It couldn’t, and most sensible people do know that.

Near future, medium future, far in the future, we don’t know when this could happen

KnottyAuty · 02/05/2025 13:43

Blueskies25 · 02/05/2025 12:49

Dismissing the range of possibilities ahead overlooks the fact that the future is unpredictable and could take many forms, it’s a very ignorant way of thinking

So true. No point ruling things out. Pigs might eventually fly.

ThatOliveHedgehog · 02/05/2025 12:45

I agree - I have massive reservations about inducing lactation. But I guess it’s a personal decision for families and I was more addressing the idea of feeling uncomfortable in a breastfeeding group by a trans woman’s presence. If other dads are present too I’m really not sure I see the issue in this instance.

What if there are other toddlers present?

There are separate issues and concerns aren’t there?

Do women want to bf in front of men?
Do women want to condone men forcing lactation and making babies suckle from them?
Do they want to normalise any of this?

I agree @Fannyannie It makes me feel sick to the stomach and I want to cry in frustration and anger at these men and for the poor little babies.

Thank you @Datun and @Helleofabore ; once again providing amazing information to help educate, inform and shine a light on the misogyny displayed by these hateful creatures who only do these things because 'me me me' and achieve absolutely nothing (other than potential to do harm) for the little baby.

Thank you .

i feel really upset reading the whole thread. I cannot believe how hard the pushing is against woman’s protected characteristics.

Be trans / bi /gay straight whatever I have no problem with that. But I feel so scared for the future of what woman are being made to accept. I rarely hear if what Transmen want. But that’s probably because they were once a woman , but they have decided to change gender.

This sort of fuckery was why I became a trustee of the local grassroots breastfeeding and babyfeeding support group I help run. (I've since stopped being a trustee but I remain involved.) I was seriously worried at one point that trans-affirming virtue signalling might actually rear its head in our own group and we'd have to support this sort of fetishistic crap. As it is, our group is not women-only - we 'welcome' dads and yes, they do turn up with their partners. Usually with newborns and sometimes they stay a while and decide it's a bit too milky for them and bugger off to a cafe. Grin But it's not at all unusual for a dad to stay the entire session and I do often wonder how that makes some of our clients feel. They may well have turned up assuming it was a female-only environment. They shouldn't have to ask for privacy if they want it, even if we do have a room down the hall we could take them to.

The fact that our group admits men (with a mother and baby) means that if in the future, some trans-identified bloke rocks up, we will find it extremely hard to exclude him on grounds of sex alone. But our group has a mission statement of 'helping parents' and that fathers need to understand the pressures of breastfeeding in order to support their partners. All well and good, until someone like the OP's unwelcome fellow guest turns up. Sad

OP, in your place I would take the leader of the group to task about privacy and that you feel unsafe flashing areas of your body normally covered by underwear with him in the room, and then (because it won't make any difference to one who has taken the koolaid) leave vocally. Can you get any of the other women on side?

I think many women can understand the benefit of a women only group, but also, educating men, can't be a bad thing.

I'm sure it could be managed successfully, maybe mixed to start with and then women only for the last half hour or something.

But I think the issue is this man wasn't there to support his wife, he was there to pretend he could breastfeed his child

edited to add it really is the height of enough that women here, going out of their way to support other women are having to be worried about fetishists and perverts leveraging that very act.

I'm sure the EHRC aren't quite up to speed on this aspect, but it would be useful if they could formulate some kind of policy or protocol once they are

Datun · 02/05/2025 13:29

Neverforgetwhothisisfor

i'm sorry, but when I responded to your comment, I was in full outrage mode about the article.

I just want to add I'm sorry for your experience. Women are feel made to feel guilty whatever they do.

But being hardwired to go to the ends of the Earth for the health of your child will be a familiar feeling for most mothers. And fathers, to be fair.

it's never something to beat yourself up over.

Mrsbloggz · 02/05/2025 13:29

There are so many other ways a father can support his new baby and partner
@GlomOfNit
You are correct. The trans identifying male is not comfortable with women taking centre stage anywhere, he cannot accept merely playing a supporting role, he has to force himself into the limelight at every opportunity.

tothelefttotheleft · 02/05/2025 13:24

JorgyPorgy · 01/05/2025 23:16

What happens if you keep turning up to the group . Is she going to physically remove you? You’ve every right to be there. Tell her she’s not welcome. Go along and let her make a scene. Get everyone’s contact details & start your own group.

No new mum is going to do that.

Mrsbloggz · 02/05/2025 13:22

trans-affirming virtue signalling might actually rear its head in our own group and we'd have to support this sort of fetishistic crap
@GlomOfNit
Exactly, the breastfeeding trans-identifying man is using a baby as a prop to indulge his sexual fetish.

GlomOfNit · 02/05/2025 13:22

Oh and men cannot breastfeed. What they secrete if they have certain conditions or are on some medications isn't breastmilk. In the case of the OP's unwelcome guest, it'll be full of artificial hormones and other chemicals (we can't prescribe anything at our group but one of the feeding leads has been known to suggest a client talk to their GP about domperidone. It does have its drawbacks) and not comparable with what a woman could offer.

There is no earthly good reason why a transwoman should attempt to 'breastfeed'. It's certainly not going to be putting the baby's interests first. There are so many other ways a father can support his new baby and partner.

Datun · 02/05/2025 13:00

My body will never allow me to conceive and bear a child, and I've always wanted to at least be able to nurse one. That was the main motivation for this. The secondary motivation was that I wanted to bring my breasts to full maturity.

The lactation thing for me just affirmed my womanhood, I think that was the most important part.

Me, me, me - demonstrating the polar opposite of motherhood
