Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Why are so many ‘cis’ men invested in the trans discussion ?

To me it seems more to be just a dislike of women of a certain age rather than a genuine respect for trans people. So many slurs about GC women being grey and middle aged, even ugly. Is it really just plain old misogyny ? Because we’re too uppity and outspoken, we’ve overtaken them in many spheres and that’s all they’ve got ?

Firstly, because men will usually support their fellow men over women.

And secondly, because there are many men, particularly on the Far Left ime, who are misogynists but feel compelled to pay lip service to feminism in order to protect their lefty credentials and get laid regularly. Therefore being able to indulge their misogyny with the socially sanctioned bullying of terfs is a pleasurable outlet for their true feelings.

Thirdly, because most of the most prominent GC feminists are over 40. Many men disregard or actively despise women who are old enough to have their own minds and opinions, but no longer young enough for the men in question to feel sexual attraction.

Young female TRA handmaidens are subconsciously aware of all the above and so they pander to TRA men in the mistaken belief that it will protect them from male hatred and possible violence.

My dd is 23 and we don’t talk about the trans issue as she sees nothing wrong in boys she went to school with transitioning into “ girls” at a (very) young age but one thing she has mentioned which I find really surprising is how acceptable it is amongst young men to have a trans girlfriend - no one questions it and it’s totally cool - where’s I just think - so they’re gay then ?

how acceptable it is amongst young men to have a trans girlfriend - no one questions it and it’s totally cool - where’s I just think - so they’re gay then

Yep.. they’ve ’transed the gay away’ which has long been a highlighted homophobic aspect of the trans ideology woo.

and when people have suggested these kids have support and counselling to go through their feelings and thoughts, again the TRA movement has responded in a very homophobic way by labelling such counselling ‘conversion therapy’. Ridiculous but they are well aware of the negative connotations of that phrase (from America where there is horrific actual conversion therapy to ‘ make gay people straight’). Another example of the woo mvt using language to manipulate meaning and people.

See eg. Pakistan where being gay is a terrible thing but it’s ok to be trans. Because it’s a woman and man relationship. Let’s not think about the sex. Etc.

So yes I can well imagine how ‘cool’ it is 🙄

They are Men who get a massive thrill out of any Women/girl being uncomfortable or scared. Can't be blatantly hateful so they do it via be inclusive, be kind, etc.

Seen quite a few on social media in the past few days attempting to appear concerned for Women being strip searched by police. Saying Women will only have themselves to blame due the court decision. Its not quite the gotcha they think it is though and they are as transparent as a window pane. Especially with their little eyebrow raise and tiny smirk at the end of it.

Init4thecatz · 27/04/2025 08:03

Because there are more of them. It's a democracy.

ApocalipstickNow · 27/04/2025 08:01

I recently blocked a male long time friend on social media. He was just becoming too much.

He’s the kind of guy who would say he’s hard left, pro feminism, pro equality and yet the only feminism he publicly supports is pro porn, sex work and trans rights.

Hes middle aged, late diagnosis of ASD, no kids, works from home in the arts, socialises mainly online, suffers anxiety… I don’t think he truly hates women, I think he finds it difficult to reconcile wanting sex with women and seeing women as having the same full level of humanity as men. I doubt he even sees his inner misogyny, he just can’t see women as real people.

I don’t think that explains all of them, there’s a whole load of twats who put on a This Is What A Feminist Looks Like t shirt because that’s what was expected in the circles they moved in. They were fast enough to swap that out for progress pride t shirts when they found that mean they could go back to saying they’d like to punch women and instead of being ostracised they’d be applauded.

Cis is a prefix, eh? So is daft, if you want it to be.

I don't understand the mindset of talking down to women just because they're women, it's not something I've been conditioned to.

In recent years, I wonder if it's because I didn't have a lot of male input in my early years. Two older sisters and two older female cousins, who used to look after me, as a nipper.

I had several kind, but no nonsense aunts and grandmothers who wouldn't be pushed about. My stepmother said few years ago that wasn't it interesting that I had quite a lot of girl friends at school, which I'd never really considered.

There was a group of us, 4 boys and 4 girls - not necessarily all the same kids at the same time - we went out roaming, making fires, catching tadpoles and butterflies, building dens and the like.

That's interesting Sinner - my childhood was like that too, a mixed group of unsupervised children playing together, mostly non sex-specific variants on hide-and-seek or tig or makey up 'adventures. Also a lot of cooking (baking really) as my aunt gave me good children's cookbooks and my mother was tolerant once we stayed within her rules (let her know in advance what ingredients we'd use; kitchen to be immaculate and everything put away by 4.30).

I have noticed that a lot of the genderist men went to schools that were part of or aped the Public School system, with cadet corps that informed a concept of men-and-officers status division. Whether they embraced it or resisted it, they stewed in it and its beliefs and assumptions throughout their adolescence. James/Jan Morris was a very typical example of a participant, but the mobbing and bullying by the supporters is often led by blokes with that background. I'm not sure how that translates to the USA of Australia, though the first has a huge military and the second had a very macho culture.

Bros before hos. Even bros in dresses.

This.

Xiaoxiong · 27/04/2025 07:27

Some are also genuinely still in their thoughtless #BeKind phase, the way a lot of women were before they peaked, but because men are seldom in situations where sharing a space with women is threatening to them their peaking is delayed or they just don't see what the problem is because they haven't had to think about it very hard. Add in social, political or friend group pressure NOT to think about it and the #BeKind is strengthened.

The thread on here about "why did you used to think TWAW" is instructive and I think applies to a lot of men too, that don't hate women.

DeanElderberry · 27/04/2025 06:22

Germaine Greer pointed out to us more than 50 years ago that men (many men) hate us. Some of us are slow learners.

Genderism promotes the sex-role, appearance, and clothing stereotypes used to keep us down.

The tragedy is young women adopting stereotypes to escape their cage, rather than working to keep the cage in the state of collapse feminism had reduced it to, through constant effort, and constant vigilance.

A grim thread to read, for sure, And yeah, 'cis' is SAFC.

Sunshineandblueskysalltheway · 27/04/2025 01:48

Because it handed them the ability to publicly talk about punching women in the face with no consequences.

LonginesPrime · 27/04/2025 01:36

Rivypike · 26/04/2025 22:00

Hence the word ‘cis’ as I’ve written it. I hate it too. And pull people up who say it.

You could just say ‘men’ - we would’ve known what you meant, as people say trans if they mean trans.

LonginesPrime · 27/04/2025 01:30

Because if women don’t take responsibility for transwomen, they become men’s problem to deal with, and that makes them uncomfortable.

Women are expected to solve all of men’s other problems, so it would be really unreasonable of us not to take this one off their hands too.

2pence · 27/04/2025 00:35

Why are they invested? Because we said no, and meant it! How f’ing dare we? Who the f’kittyf’ck do we think we are? We must be punished, taught the rules. Now get back in your box women, be quiet and do as you’re told. Women eh?

CrystalSingerFan · 27/04/2025 00:19

@Keenovay mentioned "consciousness raising". Thanks for this. Anyone else (older than me or with a 1970's feminist mother,) thinks this was a terrific step forward for women? Plus maybe something Mumsnet helps do online?

NC because I’m paranoid. I have a family member like this. He’s full on twaw and treats his gf like shit but in that awful jokey way that might be excused for humour by anyone less experienced. He hates JKR and met her through work, claiming that she behaved appallingly at the event. Sure. His gf gets the blame for his mistakes. For example if he hurts himself by walking into the doorframe it’s her fault for not having held the door open for him
even though she had her hands full of luggage. She’s equally twaw and has been plastering Facebook with posts about how trans people have always existed and aren’t doing any harm etc. I got sick of it and unfriended them both because I can’t stand the hyperbole. He thinks taking HRT makes a man change sex but if I took testosterone, cut my hair short and continued to wear trousers I wouldn’t be a man. How’s that work then? The misogyny is there and barely concealed along with the obvious contempt for his girlfriend considering he was chatting me up and flirting with me not so long ago. I used to have a lot of time for him but he’s been less friendly since I called him out on his treatment of his gf and there’s other things that have caused me to distance myself too. Misogyny lies at the heart of it and it makes me so sad.

Your family member was chatting you up?

peanutbuttertoasty · 27/04/2025 00:05

It’s the double crime of being unfuckable and no longer wanting to be service humans. They despise us.

Throughahedgebackwards · 26/04/2025 23:55

I think often it is about guarding masculinity. There are men and non-men. By asserting that TWAW they are consigning them to the non-men box. This partly explains why TMAM hasn't gained the same traction.

elgreco · 26/04/2025 23:47

Homophobic whilst gay.

nauticant · 26/04/2025 23:47

RaisedVegBeds has it. Like many of the strange cultural phenomena we've seen emerge in the past couple of decades, it's not just one thing. Like trans isn't just one thing.

If dictionaries have "made up nonsense" in them then I presume you will be contacting them with a complaint?

We've gone through this countless times. It's made up nonsense. Just like one of the ideologically driven nonsense definitions for woman in the Cambridge Dictionary. I'm not referring to myself as cis and anyone who insists that preferred pronouns should be essentially mandated while referring to women who object as cis is a hypocrite.

Anyway, any point to make about the OP?

Happyinarcon · 26/04/2025 23:42

I don’t get it, I have never heard any guy express support for the trans movement, quite the opposite, they are under the impression that women support it
