Prominent transphobe found guilty of multiple counts of child sexual abuse across a 20 year period.

I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned at all - I tried to find a thread covering this verdict and got no returns.

A prominent transphobe, Nicola Murray, has been found guilty of repeated counts of child sexual abuse against four children across a 20 year period in West Lothian and Perthshire.

Bloody hell. Absolutely disgusting crimes when committed by anyone, but coming from a well known domestic abuse activist who of all people should have known better is particularly horrifying. I hope this doesn't end up harming Brodie's Trust too badly as an organisation and the important work that they do for survivors of domestic abuse - to discover your founder is responsible for such evil acts has got to be devastating.

From the vile behaviours described in the article, including the use of transphobic slurs against a child for daring to style their hair after their favourite pop star, she appears to have been completely deranged and consumed by her hatred of the differences exhibited by those poor children. Looks like she never succeeded in overcoming her hatred for trans people, which it explains why it spilled out into and marred her activism.

It must have taken immense courage for those young people to speak up about her abusive behaviour, but thankfully it seems this is one of the rare occasions where victims are believed and taken seriously when coming forward.

I’m so shocked by the examples on this thread. In all honesty I was on the fence about toilets before, but definitely see the case for bio women only now!

With that user name I thought you were going to bring up barbie kardashian.

GC women as a group, don't hold up signs calling for another group of people to -

Be decapitated.

Be raped.

To die in a fire.

TRAs hold up these signs calling for violence and sexual violence as clear as day, on record, and they do in fact act out on these calls for violence regularly with acts of actual physical violence against women and children.

As horrendous and tragic and shocking the Nicola Murray case is, women still make up less than 2% of the prison population for violent crimes, less than 0.5% for crimes against children.

There's no point trying to claim GC women are prone to violence when the facts show the opposite.

She's just an obscure outlier who shouldn't be taken as representative of the whole, though, right?

Yes, that's right Butterfly. Are you really still struggling to understand that predators are often very manipulative and successful at persuading people that they are something they are not? From what I've read about this woman, that seems to be the case here.

Imagine not being able to recognise when manipulation and deception occurs…. Surely Hatched recognises deceptive actions.

SinnerBoy · 26/04/2025 03:24

...witch-hunt against Mridul Wadhwa (who was driven out of her job at a rape crisis centre in Edinburgh by the abuse she received at Murray's hands...

Mr. Idul Wadhwa is and always has been a man. He should never have been employed at ERC, or any related organisation, because of the Single Sex Exemption Cause.

He used his position to bully and abuse women, who had been rated and who were in dire need of help. He sent them away and deliberately and knowingly refused to give them the details of other centres, which could have helped them.

There was no witch hunt, he's not a woman, or a "she."

He's a vile, abusive skidmark, who inveigled his way into a job, for which he had no accreditation qualifications at all.

Apparently so. Never heard of her.
Ignoring that point, just to be clear her crimes are disturbing and appalling. I’m very glad the victims both spoke up and were taken seriously.
I understand she was involved in domestic violence work, it does demonstrate the importance of no sacred castes and no-one being above suspicion.

I saw an article in the Times Scotland about her after she was convicted, didn't recognize the name or the charity.

SnoopyPajamas · 25/04/2025 19:45

I mean, ffs. One of the reasons the Supreme Court ruling was even necessary, was that police departments up and down the country were allowing trans-identified male officers to strip-search women.

SnoopyPajamas · 25/04/2025 19:42

Let us not forget that Stonewall was, after all, a riot. We're still allowed to think of the event that kickstarted the modern struggle for LGBT rights as a positive thing, right?

Yet another disingenuous comparison, but who's surprised at this point?

Stonewall was a riot because the police had spent years entrapping and harassing gay people. The police have done no such thing to trans-identified people in the UK. Quite the opposite, in fact. They've consistently taken their side and failed to defend vulnerable women. A recent LWS event in Nottingham ended with the women getting so frustrated by police's basic failure to keep the protesters at a safe distance, that they walked to the nearest station and gave their speeches right on their doorstep instead.

The UK police do not entrap trans people and arrest them for being trans. (Which is not against the law.) They do not harass trans people. They do not sit on their arses and do nothing to ensure trans people's safety. In fact, they've had multiple awareness campaigns about it over the years, and often make a show of support at Pride.

To compare the behaviour of TRAs at the weekend to Stonewall, is truly deranged.

Mridul Wadhwa

You mean the predatorial male who asked women in therapy sessions (despite him having no training in therapy at all whatsoever) if they 'orgasmed during the rape', and who also told rape victims to "reframe their trauma"? THAT Mridul Wadhwa?!? ??? He resigned in disgrace at the filthy perverted behaviour he displayed which was exposed.

I've followed the Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre scandals and the predatorial male behaviour of Mridul Wadhwa which led to his disgrace and resignation since the beginning. At NO STAGE have I ever even heard of a person called Nicola Murray. So yes, she is an obscure person with no actual links to GC women.

But of course, Mridul Wadhwa the predatorial male is the victim.... yeah, sure. Your misogyny and hatred of women is palpable and visceral. By making Mridul Wadhwa out to be a victim, instead of the predator he is, you are really not making yourself look good.

Edited

I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw him brought up as some poor oppwessed victim hounded out of his job.

Pull the other one!

as KJK has discovered several times at her own rallies which have been blighted by the presence of neo-nazi salutes.

Did you miss the apology from John Pesutto to KJK for suggesting that neo nazis were at LWS. Or the defamation case he lost against Moira Deeming

Edited

More disingenuous codswallop from Butterfly. Surprise surprise.

The neo-nazis showed up to fight with antifa, as they do, and the women attending LWS got caught in the middle. If antifa hadn't decided supporting women's rights made KJK a modern day facist, and left the event alone, the neo-Nazis wouldn't have bothered their arses about LWS.

The trans people who show up to pro-trans protests with signs calling for violence against women, though? They actually belong to the group they're giving a bad name to.

There's a big difference.

These men still won't be allowed to women's spaces, only now, more people will understand why.

Ah so you don't think it is hypocritical for
Feminists to tar all TRAs with the pedo brush due to some being pedos
TRAs then tar all feminists with the pedo brush due to some (one?) being a pedo
Feminists to then get all upset at the brush tarring cos 'we're not all like that'

I am neither a TRA nor a feminist just a 'moderate' observing human nature with interest and it just seems a bit ironic to me.

I don't condone incitement to violence and I don't condone permanent damage to public gathering places and monuments.

While the sign game from last weekend was mostly excellent, certain idiots clearly didn't think their creations through and as a peaceful protester myself who has experienced both credible threats of - and outright escalations to - violence many times at protests, I'm deeply offended by and disappointed in them.

Out of the more than 20,000 extremely angry and afraid people who turned up to protest in London, it's very difficult to guarantee that all of them will behave - as KJK has discovered several times at her own rallies which have been blighted by the presence of neo-nazi salutes.

I don't give a shit about people drawing tiny hearts in washable chalk that don't even obscure the text on statues and will be gone within a couple of days, though, and frankly it's embarrassing (and rather revealing) to see the sweaty desperation with which the media has scrabbled to find a villain narrative over some chalky scribbles the last few days.

If this had been happening in France, there'd have been burning and overturned vehicles all over the place.

Let us not forget that Stonewall was, after all, a riot. We're still allowed to think of the event that kickstarted the modern struggle for LGBT rights as a positive thing, right?

Anyway, Nicola Murray - founder of trans-exclusionary refuge Brodie's Trust and one of Scotland's best-known anti-trans activists who led the witch-hunt against Mridul Wadhwa (who was driven out of her job at a rape crisis centre in Edinburgh by the abuse she received at Murray's hands) turned out to be an evil abusive nonce who was preying on multiple children for 20 years.

Oh, she's mates with Sonia Sodha, Malcom Clarke and Rosie Duffield and is apparently still followed online by the FWS account, btw.

She's just an obscure outlier who shouldn't be taken as representative of the whole, though, right?
