I think it is very important to note that it has been a lot easier for the right wing to appear to be standing up for women, because they wouldn't necessairliy lose their base and would possibly gain support.

Its the men and companies who are either self identified as central/woke/left who spoke up are the really brave ones. As we learned standing up to an enemy is easier than standing up to friends. Thats why JK and Graham Lineham are so brave.

He's been brilliant - not only supportive but also absolutely livid on women's behalf.

The men who stood up for women, often to their own cost, have been excellent. Some have even made mention of the fact that in most cases, the abuse they have received would have been even worse if they had been women.

The ones who didn't say anything but didn't actually push TWAW, I can understand. They could have been more courageous but it's understandable.

The ones who actively pushed TWAW? They are anti women. They see us as support humans, plain and simple. It doesn't affect them and they couldn't see why women couldn't just be kind.

I think Wes Streeting actually did realise the issue, just a bit late. Still way ahead of many of his Labour colleagues.

Justin Webb has been mentioned but think deserves a lot of credit. He understood it early and was supportive to a lot of women at the BBC (which treats its older female staff fairly abysmally generally and which has been awful on this issue in particular).

I think we should nominate @glinner for an honour in recognition of his services to women. And keep doing it until he gets one.

Just stumbled across this, I haven't read the other replies, so someone's probably already mentioned him- Professor Robert Winston (the labour peer and biologist) gave a beautiful speech in the Lords back in...2021? (I think that was the year, I remember being on mat leave). The Lords made an amendment to the MOMA Bill to include the word mother. I remember watching it on Parliament TV online and he said something like "everyone in this chamber was born from a mothers uterus"... "only a woman can give rise to a baby".

He was also on question time either that same year or maybe the following year and when asked a question skirting around the edges said "well I'd rather hoped you were going to ask my view as a biologist..." then proceeded to talk about sex being immutable and how he receives death threats every time he talks about it.

I have a lot of respect for him.
