I remember when Ian McEwan made some statements criticising gender self-identification some years ago, then crumbled completely when he was challenged about it. Same as Stephen King. Pathetic cowardly men both.

Coincidentally, or perhaps not, I've always found McEwan's portrayals of female characters to be one-dimensional and shit.

Pretty sure Boy George ruined his career by handcuffing an escort to a radiator, beating him and going to jail for it.

I posted a tweet years ago to say how disappointed I was with Robert Webb calling out Mermaids. That was before I did my critical thinking and I still feel bad about that now.

Marilyn has been very vocal about keeping men out of our spaces. He said on X this week that Boy George hung up on him a few days ago cos he refused to stop saying stuff about trans women and he basically said Marilyn was ruining his career by doing this. Says it all really.

How you can say he stands up for women when he's been found liable for sexual abuse in a court, and that's before we even get onto the other stuff...

Kenny MacAskill - former Scottish Justice Secretary and later (SNP and then Alba) UK MP. He made it very clear that he does not speak for feminists or women or include himself in those categories, but that "justice" has a meaning and has value. And "justice" applies to all humans equally, including women - however controversial or risible the hot takes of the day may find that concept.

Isn’t it incredibly sad how quickly and easily women were thrown under the bus.

The protests today,saying terms should be hung, women threatened with death isn’t that hate speech where is our protection why isn’t there an outcry against these threats by the authorities?

I wouldn't normally include a TIM on a list of male allies but I've just seen a great interview which Miranda Yardley did for LBC in the wake of the Supreme Court judgement and it reminded me that he's always been GC.

Bruce Dickinson (singer of Iron Maiden) - made it very clear on several occasions he thought it was a load of bollocks.. years ago he said something about women should support trans people -someone then clearly handed his arse to him on a plate and he changed his tune. I actually got kicked off an unofficial fan site because I said I agreed with him.

I'm sorry, but anyone who thinks TWAW and supports TW in women's spaces and sports has either not the issue through, or doesn't give a shit about women.

The men named on this thread have been clear-sighted and have often had considerable moral courage. Some of them have paid a massive price, personally and financially, for refusing to deny reality and for standing up for women. They deserve our respect.

I wish I had not read this thread. While I welcome the recent ruling I absolutely abhor the battle that ensued around it and I can't see the value in making such a list. I don't think men who supported the idea that TWAW are anti feminist or are not allies to women.

There were a number of Tory men who stood up for women and girls and the crap being fed to kids via sex ed/pshe during the Parliamentary debate of the Education Bill (that I think was shelved when Boris Johnson resigned). One of them was Peter Bottomley. Wish I could remember the others.
