After years and years of women losing their jobs and careers, being hounded, harassed, doxxed, put on lists, thrown out of pubs and venues, banned from social groups and social media, spat on, punched, suffering death and rape threats and even arrested in front of their children and thrown into cells simply for saying ‘men are not women’ it is dizzyingly joyous and liberating that we not only can, but the law backs us up. Thank god & the SC for sanity and freedom.

Why is it “disgusting” to suggest that, if identifying as trans used to be a way into women only spaces but now it isn’t, there will quite possibly be fewer men identifying as women as a way of accessing those spaces?

Do you not accept the idea that some men who identify as women do so for nefarious reasons?

Is English your first language? Dwindle means to diminish gradually. in the longer term I think the number of trans people will dwindle means the poster believes the number of people who announce publicly that they are transgender will fall. What's wrong with that? She's not said they should be rounded up and exterminated, which is what you're implying.

NoWordForFluffy .....I really can't see places spending time and resources they don't have changing male and female toilets to gender neutral. I can, sadly, foresee longer queues for disabled facilities which are by their nature gender neutral.

This is a critical time for protection of disabled facilities as spaces for disabled people, not consolation prizes for disappointed able-bodied trans people.

Just as women have to trust that men will stay out of women's toilets, disabled people have to rely on able-bodied people staying out of accessible toilets.

Disabled people fought long and hard for accessible facilities, and it's distressing to see how quickly disability rights have been pushed way down the 'hierarchy of entitlement'. It's also revealing of how little respect TRAs have for other people's rights.

Well it's largely a MRA movement so yes.

Well trans women are men. And so you might say "why tar all men with the same brush". And separate spaces have long existed to protect women from predatory men. There was never a problem with that before the TRA movement geared up.

I think we will see some more litigation but in the longer term I think the number of trans people will dwindle. Once they realise there is no special treatment to be had any more and no perceived obligation to pander to their delusions, I think many just won’t be arsed with the pretence any more.

I spend hours every day on the internet but I don’t seek out trans issues so my algorithms aren’t geared up for it and I obviously miss it. Nobody should receive death threats but why do you tar all trans people with the same brush?

You are obviously from the US so why poke your nose into British affairs? Sort your own country out before criticising ours.

Yes, what the ruling has uncovered is that there is no legal definition of what 'Gender' is actually supposed to mean. And even if there was...gender is not the same as 'Sex'

The forum in question is predominantly populated by men. 98% of posters are male. For some reason it also attracts a very large population of gay men.
The men who were suggesting that above " if I didn't know better" were heterosexual men who considered themselves on line buddies of this person. They all know he's male, but have taken the "be kind" route.

The gay men were the worst, in terms of personal abuse towards me......just hateful and vitriolic. I got a sense that this young man felt more validated by praise from straight men, then gay men.

He identifies himself as 'asexual' these days...though I suspect he has been struggling with his sexual orientation. There definitely seem to be elements of AGP. Being quite heavily set and over 6 foot is going to make 'passing' extremely difficult. I do often wonder at his mental state now he has put himself through the 'process'. He certainly doesn't post anywhere near as often as he used to.

At least it will keep them busy.
