Not a podcast, but the latest episode of The Skewer on bbc sounds sort of covered the ruling. Well worth a listen.

Konstantin Kisin said on X today Triggernometry had invited India Willoughby back on to talk about the ruling, and the researcher was shouted at and hung up on. So let’s see who they get on!

Sorry, got this wrong -- they were dismayed that a board with 5 men and 5 women would now, post-SC ruling, be considered more diverse than a board with 5 men and 5 women that includes a transwoman on the women's side. Pretty sure that was it...

I was very disappointed by the Quiet Riot podcast on this topic. Sunday 20 April. Usually think very highly of analysis by Alex Andreou and Naomi Smith but on this subject they were very poorly and narrowly informed. Both expressed dismay at the idea that a board comprised of 5 men and 5 men could now be considered more diverse than a board containing 4 men, a transwoman, and 5 women. And NS dismissed the idea that biological sex is binary as 'pseudoscience', with AA only replying that he didn't know as much as his co-host about the scientific side of things. I think a lot of progressives now live in a kind of Bluesky echo chamber.

I'm guessing from their ignorance that's the extent of their research before pontificating on a topic they know nothing about. Arseholes.

Yes, @Xiaoxiong I've also listened pretty much since the start - they were amusingly amateurish at the beginning in the pandemic. They've both been cancelled over the trans stuff, and I enjoy listening to their quite measured discussions of this. Singal, in particular, is pragmatic and very humane & compassionate. Although I've seen UK gender critical people (who are not always feminists as I recognise feminism) criticise him . But the US situation is quite different.

I'e been listening to fiction podcasts in the genre of world-ending conspiracy theories, such as Tanis and Rabbits (highly recommended). It's extraordinary how like these fictions some of the real-world internet rabbit holes can be.

I'd still urge everyone to listen (and subscribe) to Double Jeopardy. They've had several excellent femonists on there, and their epi on the Supreme Court is a haven of rational compassionate discussion in amongst all the to & fro and the Daily Mail. Karon Monaghan is impressive.

Sure I read someone putting forward Helen Lewis as a potential successor to Ian Hislop, but time will tell.

Had seen her make some posts on X in particular calling out the misogyny of some of the protest placards last week so was expecting more on the podcast. I know she splits opinion here but she has a clear grasp of the issues and explains them well. PE surely can’t avoid it in the next print issue, they could fill Street of Shame, HP Sauce, Hackwatch, In the Back and plenty more for weeks!

Private Eye has been becoming quietly more woke in the past few years. I think that's mostly to do with a few of the old guys leaving and younger writers coming in and bringing their fashionable opinions with them.

I still think that, on this, Hislop is either a coward or a misogynist or both, but should he retire - and he's been editor since 1986 - I really doubt that it's going to rediscover its balls. It could easily get worse.

Private Eye’s P94 admitted choosing to swerve the issue entirely, with a quick passing reference to the ruling and charities getting involved in policy making in discussion of something else.

The last issue came out on the day of the ruling so we’ll have to see what they include next week.

Does it occur to them that using drugs to prevent puberty is a recent invention? That access to this kind of medical care depends on privileged circumstances? That unlike treating cataracts or typhoid, in societies where treatment isn’t or wasn’t available there is no evidence of need that replicates the demand in places where it is?

@LittleBigHead I'm a BARPOD founding primo and have listened since literally the first episode - one of my favourite podcasts out there. I don't always agree with them, or think they haven't fully understood what the implications are of eg self-ID or safeguarding etc. But I don't like echo chambers so I don't mind disagreeing sometimes.

I'm looking forward to their episode on this, I hope it drops soon.

I couldn't believe it when Rory Stewart said his view has been informed by being friends with someone who runs a gender clinic in the USA and gives out puberty blockers. Listened to it in full now, in some ways he's worse than Campbell.

BBC Scotland did a full Scotcast episode about the judgment. The journalists seemed somewhat confused about the legal aspects.

TRIP was absolutely awful. Just really poorly informed and argued. And the woman who AC complained about misgendering in the Channel 4 interview was Maya Forstater. I’m surprised he didn’t recognise her or understand her significance.

if you want to hear something (quite mad) from the other side, Tom and Lorenzo urge everyone to shun all Harry Potter related content and boycott JKR.

They’re a gay couple who blog about fashion and pop/celeb culture and I usually enjoy their takes, but they’re very steeped in queer culture and like to talk about “rainbow families”.

Their short discussion is totally focused on Rowling, which is fair enough as pop culture and fandoms is their thing. Among their claims: trans women have been recognised as women in law for about 100 years; JKR has been obsessed with the issue for a decade and spent hundreds of millions on it; they imply (libellously) that she bought the Supreme Court justices.
