Agree, It’s great things are happening so quickly.

I think a lot or organisations knew what was happening was wrong but their hands were tied, with the new law it means they can implement change without fear of having a potential fight on their hands

The response from a few organisations has been swift and although it should have never been necessary to make this ruling because, well, common sense, it really is heartening to read that things are changing and I can finally say what I believe.

Life gets so much easier and straightforward following yesterday's ruling.

I love it.

I work for the NHS. We've had a Trust wide email today acknowledging that many people will be shocked and upset by the ruling. An assurance that the Trust will continue to respect everyone's identity and offering support as we "navigate this journey together".

Banging my head against the desk. Very tempted to point out that some of us are overjoyed and relieved by the ruling, but I've not been in this post long and need to keep my job for now.

Ooh an interim policy. They are going to have to come out with a definitive policy PDQ if the judicial review is only on hold for 14 days following the SC decision. Should be a fairly easy adjustment to their current policy.

Although, of course a transman could check a women, but that would be fine and obvious they were a woman so no issues there.

I have complained again to the BBC, and I will continue to do so every time I hear them centring men in this when they should centre women.

It’s concerning to see how many places have been flouting the law.

I have been wondering if there will be a drop in the number of men who wish us to pretend they are women after this ruling is put into action. I suspect we will see fewer men facing criminal sentences suddenly coming out as TW at the least.

Sadly I fear the number of young women wanting to pretend they are not women will not significantly drop, but I hope I am prove wrong.

Twisted on channel 4 news to be dreadful that TW would now have to be searched by men…nothing about what happens to women. Actually this seems to be the general approach of media outlets… all about the female impersonators and how sad they are. Furious all over again,

I hope so. Both for the women who have suffered but also because there will still be some who try to get round things. Money talks in a way decency doesn't.

Who has invested the most money in this and who is exposed to the highest levels of liability...

I am currently on a Facebook discussion where someone, obviously new to all this, is sympathising with poor India Willoughby - who has just posted about the travesty of British transport Police allowing men to strip search Trans women. Sigh. I’ve put my head above the parapet on Facebook for the 1st time and I can’t be countering every bloody piece of nonsense or else I’ll never be off Facebook.

Good. Of all the organisations that grouped men-who-say-they're-women in with women, the NHS was the most ridiculous. How can sex possibly be trumped by gender in healthcare?

R4 and Channel 4 news both lead with this story but it was framed with deep concern that “Trans women will be searched by males”
I shouted at the radio -well that’s because most of them have a cock and balls!

There was obviously no mention what’s so ever about the fact that women will now not have to worry about being intimately searched by males.

Luckily the NHS will have to roll over.... Especially now they are joining NHS England as part of DHSC.

It's going to be interesting to see which organisations just roll over without even a whimper and which ones decide to go down fighting to their last breath.

There are moves towards it in my specialist area of law (far from Equalities!) and a few tentative ones elsewhere. It could become a thing.

I had thought that the Post Office scandal was part of a class action. I did a search and found it described as a group action:

I don't believe class action is an English law thing. It's a us thing.

R4 6pm news took exactly the same tack. No mention that, up till now, some men could search female prisoners. Or that female officers were expected to search intact men.
