No - think more something like model railway enthusiasts - it was really sad seeing people banned for hate from a very specialist hobby group they had a lot of knowledge in and were passionate about.

The group had a ‘no political posts’ rule and someone posted say a railway track with all the different gender flags all over it in pride month. Someone else reported it as a political post and then a discussion broke out about why the gender identity bit can be considered political and a few blokes were quite confused as they hadn’t come across the idea of gender identity and said they thought sex was binary and it was all a load of nonsense so they were banned as transphobic and hateful. Then the person who put up the original post made sure a trans activist was made an admin to advise the original admins on what was hateful and what wasn’t with a totalitarian zeal. It was quite scary to witness and peaked me massively.

Another one here adding to the thanks. I joined up when first pregnant 18 years ago and stayed around due to the funny, helpful & knowledgeable posters. MN has provided me with plenty of entertainment over the years but also provided invaluable support through the birth of my children and the loss of my own parent.
I always came away from the Feminist boards having learnt something and was amazed that more people around me didn’t realise or didn't seem to care what was going on as women's rights were being eroded. MN gave me the courage to contact and meet my local WRN group a couple of years ago and what a fabulous bunch of women they are.

I can't convey how important the FWR forum has been for me in recent years, without the wisdom and support there, I would have lost my sanity. Thank you to the lovely FWR vipers too.

edited to add - in my business I charge “toxic people” at 200% the going rate. Might be worth considering similar if Ocado and the like want you back. There should be a penalty for being so duplicitous

Was the geeky group one with a Disney adjacent name? If so, I left because I couldn't take the fawning over a TIM who liked to dress in practically indecent cos play. And I liked that group.

I’ve learnt so much and followed the tribunals and waited with apprehension for the SC judgement. I’ve written to my MP, to organisations, and planted veggies here and there. I was peaked when it all kicked off with JK Rowling on Twitter in lockdown. I read her essay and was so confused by the hysteria and crazy reaction. shortly after I was banned from a small geeky specialist group on Facebook for simply saying that discussion was needed to make sure everyone is protected. A TRA got a whole heap of people banned, mostly autistic older males who were clueless that you couldn’t say sex is binary.

A million times thank you for standing strong!
