The changed atmosphere is great. Went out with two friends old friends today - we have know each other since our babies were born. I already knew one was GC as we have talked about it, wasn’t sure about the other one. We had a great conversation over lunch and all of us are unanimous in our GC views. We talked about the ruling and the protests. I don’t think conversations like that would be so common were it not for the groundwork here which has led to it coming into the open. Thank you again!

Another from me, though it was some time qgo i started to read rhe threads sceptically at first regarding this and other wonens' issues. If i recall correctly, there were a number of deletions, historicallu so posters were still having to be careful about their use of language. Yet mumsnet was the only space that allowed exchange of informqtion to legitimately take place. Its a great resource and reminds us that we can continue to watch the threats to attempts to roll back our rights, as sadly it shows us that it will continue.
However the SC ruling secures for us the space to properly defend our rights, giving us the right to say "wen are ONLY those born female"

I agree! Thank you from me as well. Until I read the newspaper article aboit it, I’d not considered the pressure that holding the line put on @MNHQ. But now I realise how difficult it was. I appreciate your strength, integrity and commitment to free speech!

Having seen the state of the comments on the rest of the internet, I’m even more glad for MN. Reddit is really a vile man-centering cesspit of misogyny, isn’t it?

It is! I was really worried that she would get in trouble because of all the things I'd read about the way some schools are teaching about gender and trans issues, but her school seems pretty sensible.

The trans girl got told off for being in the girl's changing room. He did run in girls races on sports day and my dd came 1st and he came 3rd. Dd's teacher was like "I know, I know but it's not worth making a big deal over." when dd complained. Dd pointed out that it did matter to the girl who came 4th.

She's had a lot of debates about it in class and the teachers let her have her say, I think it's because she said she's careful to stick to facts and never gets personal or name calls.

She's actually in an after school club with the trans girl and they get on well so there's no hard feelings between them.

Another Thank You to @JustineMumsnet and all at Mumsnet for this haven of common sense. I had a work role in DEI back around 2018 and started to smell a rat… when I came here it was like a breath of fresh air. (Had been a longtime user, my baby Catboy is 18 now). This has always been the home of forthright feminism and to hold that line must have been incredible hard under such commercial pressure.

As for @SusanSmithFWS and all at FWS - I am in awe at what you have achieved for us all! Thank you thank you thank you

Another one very grateful for MN! It must be unique in being a woman-centric space on the internet.

Even contractors on more than £1k a day rarely (probably never) have the formal authority to pull out of a partnership like that. You’re there to provide skills they don’t have in house, project manage, provide advice or do tedious work no one wants to do. Not make key partnership decisions that no one in the company knows about.

The part Mumsnet has played, and plays, in enabling women to come together, learn and discuss our needs and our rights - now confirmed by the Supreme Court - is absolutely fundamental and pivotal. So valuable, and so valued. Words can't quite convey it, which is a bit ironic! - but you know, I hope. FWR (as I still call it) is unique, and together, the online space you provide - and have held, despite commercial sanctions and reputational attacks - and the incredible women who post here and read here and take action as a result, have done something courageous and magnificent. It is the best online community in the world, ever. Without any doubt, future generations will know how important FWR has been in the long, ongoing struggle to protect women's rights. And I'm sure it always will be. Thank you.
