Scottish Greens being sexist again

With Sparkles no longer a member other male Scottish Greens have had to step up to continue their terrible reputation. They are doing their bit.

Scottish Greens council candidate claimed JK Rowling was a Holocaust denier and said trans rapist Isla Bryson was a woman
Exclusive: Eryn Browning has been chosen by the Scottish Greens to contest a by-election in Clydebank Waterfront but offensive historic posts have resurfaced.

There is hope the Scottish Greens might plunge into civil war after their conference. Patrick Harvie is standing down as leader but Slater is standing again and there is opposition over her elitist behaviour.

My god there are vegans in Scotland. What do the have to eat other than shortbread 🤔

There's a really good vegan bakery in Peterhead. I'm not a vegan, but enjoyed some pasties from it.

😂

I'm not sure the Buddhist approach really chimes with nursing grievances and a victim complex. But there's a lot of misunderstanding and superficiality about.

Wow even for Scotland this is crazy.

Tory MSP Murdo Fraser reported to police after 'no more Buddhists' Rangers tweet
A Tory party spokesman claimed Fraser's tweet was aimed at Russell Martin and "obviously a joke".

Tory MSP reported to Police over Rangers 'no more Buddhists or vegans' tweet
A Scottish Conservative MSP has been reported to police after he called for "no more vegans, Buddhists or Green Party members" at Rangers following the sacking of Russell Martin.
Murdo Fraser, a well-known fan of the Ibrox club, made the statement on social media on Sunday evening after news broke the Light Blues were once again on the hunt for a new manager.

Martin was sacked after a dismal 1-1 draw at Falkirk left Rangers languishing mid-table.
The person who complained to the police told the National: "My daughter, who is Buddhist, and many of her community friends feel insulted and marginalised by this statement. Such comments can perpetuate intolerance and division in our society."

A spokesman for the Scottish Green Party said in response to the original tweet: "This is a bizarre and ridiculous outburst, even by the repellent and undignified standards of Murdo Fraser.

"It is divisive and discriminatory and suggests Buddhists, vegans and Green supporters are not welcome around him - which is a pretty irresponsible message to be sending.

"If Rangers are to turn things around then the last person they should be taking lessons from is Murdo Fraser who represents a collapsing party and a worldview that is stuck firmly in the past."

Oh dear the Scottish Greens are looking boring compared to the hypnotic effect of ZP. ZP is even doing sexism better than the Scottish Greens because the Scottish Greens have crushed internal opposition. Fascinating article:

Where's Scotland's Jack Polanski? Scottish Greens are going nowhere
https://archive.is/YBwvY
Even though Polanski only joined the GPEW in 2017, previously having been a LibDem activist, his strategy and style of his so-called eco-populism is much more vibrant and energetic, appealing to the growing numbers impatient for progressive politics. With Mackay being labelled the frontrunner from the start, the Scottish Greens leadership campaign was low key and muted according to most observers.
The politics espoused by Polanski are a break from the past for the GPEW. Not only did he seek to be radical but he also sought to tie up environmental concerns with economic grievances. He’s promoting a wealth tax. Meantime, Greer and Mackay offered more of the same political platitudes of campaigning for a universal income, free bus travel and higher taxation on the rich.
It’s not that these are not radical policies per se but that they seem to be a rehash of much that went before. They seemed even more tired because they came from a party that not only had been in government between 2021 and 2024 but had also often supported the SNP as the Scottish Government since 2007.
The sense of stasis was heightened when Greer and Mackay made a fist of saying that gender critical feminists had no place in their party and then Mackay said her priority concerned decriminalising abortion.

Great article:

Rebecca McQuillan Why is Green party putting trans rights before climate change?
When is a Green party not really a green party? When its red lines exclude climate activists.
New Scottish Greens co-leaders Ross Greer and Gillian Mackay have declared that activists who are passionate about tackling climate change but don’t think that a trans woman is the same as a biological woman, are not wanted in their party.
If on the other hand you oppose Scottish independence, which puts you at odds with another key Scottish Green party policy, then you would be welcomed, they say.
Members’ views on trans rights, uniquely, seem to have been elevated to the status of heresy test.
In one sense there’s nothing remotely surprising about this, since the Scottish Greens have consistently stuck to the same line on trans rights. But it’s remarkable in another sense, because the two new leaders are adopting a stance that effectively excludes sensible moderate people who thought the Scottish Green Party existed mainly to campaign on the environment. That’s potentially an awful a lot of people.

Greer spouts off again. So many lies. Apparently Scottish women are incapable of knowing that women exist without Americans to tell them.

Then there is this travesty trying to conflate views on abortion with women's rights to have changing rooms and prisons again.

He said: “Many of these people want to row back access to abortion rights. Many of them are the same people who opposed what the Greens did creating those protest-free, harassment-free buffer zones outside hospitals that provide abortion services.
“We need to be absolutely clear about the agenda of so many of the people involved. Not everybody campaigning against the rights of trans people also oppose abortion rights. But I am yet to find someone who opposes abortion rights who does not also vociferously and viciously oppose trans rights.”

So we have Zack and the GPEW, currently facing - how many court cases? - side-eying the New Whatever You Like Party of Corbyn etc, both parties which contain Muslim men who are not ever going to toe the line on 'trans' issues and who are already being attacked for 'transphobia'. We have counter attacks for 'islamophobia'.

And we have the SGP, riven with what was described as an internal war, trying now to battle the GPEW.

Both parties have done their best to expel or exclude any women who refused to chant the catechisms, but many people in both parties still retain this irritating commitment to environmental issues, and there are some tenacious and very determined and patient long standing members who are still standing fast.

Watching in horrified fascination as a party that was once a force for good, and remains the alleged custodian of increasingly important environmental issues, shakes itself to pieces.

It seems Zack's plan to reunite the Green party England Wales with the Scottish Greens has run into a snag.

The Scottish Green party is a separate party because it split from the Green party England Wales because they didn't hate women enough. See article above for backstory.

GPEW is under Polanski trying to catch up in the cancelling women plan though they have run into a road block because pesky women keep saying things and wanting to attend conferences. The English Greens have a particularly vocal Baroness Jenny Jones who just keeps on thinking women exist she has only been in the Greens since 1988 so apparently she can be ignored. This has led to a huge online meltdown. For all this see the Green party thread.

Scottish Greens are lambasting the English for being too lax and defying holy writ. Rumour has it that they have a solution and are working on a pamphlet to finally solve the women problem In Scotland and south of the border too with the catchy title The Second Blast of the Trumpet Against the Monstruous Regiment of Women.

The cause of LGBT equality has been in our DNA, in the DNA of every Green Party since our movement began in the 70s
How dare these biology-deniers talk about DNA?

I was actually around (quite young) when Die Grünen were founded (have met Petra Kelly very briefly) and LGBT was not something that they talked about much and certainly not the T part of it.

ArabellaScott · 10/09/2025 07:52

I expect that following the elections/internal power.struggles, in which every last trans person failed to win, the SGO are attempting to buy pardons from the rainbow lobby by making ridiculous proclamations like this.

They're aiming those comments at the most extreme activists within the party, with absolutely no consideration of how that comes across to people outwith the party.

They've just said dont vote Green if you dont believe its possible to change sex.

They may as well join forces with the Flat Earth society.

Well their red line is getting plenty of publicity.

Telegraph - Voters should not back Scottish Greens if they do not think trans women are women, new leaders say
https://archive.is/wLWfS

Herald - Greer and Mackay: No place in Greens for the gender critical
https://archive.is/9A9iy

Be interesting if they stick to pushing that line in the May elections as a key issue for Scotland and what the result is. Saying people should not Green if they don't believe in gender stuff is a bold stance.
A lot of Indy Scots are interested in this section.

Asked if someone would be welcome in the party if they did not agree with the leadership on sex and gender, Mr Greer said:
“Would you expect the SNP to welcome people who oppose Scottish independence?
He added: "One of our core principles, one of the reasons that we exist, is equality, and that is LGBT equality."

This indicates the Green party leaders are very happy to have the support of unionist voters, but it's "a red line" if you don't share their belief that TWAW.

The Green Party, the party that eats itself on a regular basis. Absolutely batshit.

It's all laughs and nuance when they're talking about Unionists voting Green. Watch the smile drop off her face when it comes to discussing whether its possible to change sex.

Red line, apparently.

That's a shame. I had retained a glimmer of hope that Mackay might have been less outrageous on this issue than others in the SGP.

A political party that actively doesn’t want a majority of people to vote for them. That’s an interesting strategy.
