Continuation of Thread 9.

There is so much excellent information and so many active discussions on FWR that I wondered if it would be useful to have a thread to sort of "cross-fertilise" between them - airing little thoughts or vignettes that wouldn't themselves merit their own thread, to highlight other posts/threads of particular interest or to point to notable developments on fast-moving threads so that casual observers know where to look.

(For example, "the X thread has meandered onto a fascinating discussion of Y" or "Poster P's amazing analysis on thread Z might have relevance to the scenario in thread W" or "Has anybody noticed this recurring theme that keeps coming up??" or even "Random bloke asked me to smile while I was choosing onions in the supermarket, grr"- that sort of thing).

Ha, she's not having it, is she!

That link doesn't work but this seems okay:

There's a clip on x of Julia Hartley Brewer interviewing Peter Tatchell that's quite fun. Everytime he says something ridiculous she just interrupts to tell him that's not true

I changed on 6. But perhaps it’s because I was a secondary school teacher for many years and am conditioned to more youthful male faces, which are probably more androgynous than those of adult men.

Edited

That would be me as well @borntobequiet

I also got confused by the numbering running from right to left rather than left to right.

To me the 'less male' ones mostly look 'male but young'. All the necks being the same is unhelpful.

Kucinghitam · 27/04/2025 07:27

From the front full-coloured view, 5 was my switching point too, the ambiguous one. The colourless front view was harder to distinguish (understandably) but I had the same switching point with the 3/4 views.

5 is the in-between one for me.

Britinme · 27/04/2025 02:50

I saw 5-7 as female and all the others as male, though 4 was a bit more ambiguous. I tried it on DH and he said the same.

moto748e · 26/04/2025 21:45

That's just what I thought.
Starting off with a typical male brow-line, and then gradually changing it into something quite different, does not a woman make.

Here's an interesting little perception test: https://x.com/FondOfBeetles/status/1915723172428534046?

Emma doesn't link to the original paper, as far as I can see, but does summarise the results here:
https://x.com/FondOfBeetles/status/1915738713302183990?

MrBint couldn't do it all. The question baffled him.

I couldn’t see any of them as female, the eyes just look completely wrong so they get slightly more feminine but not female at all really.

Waitwhat23 · 26/04/2025 19:17

Anyone else seeing the shit pink and blue wee card RMW is advising men to hand out if they're 'challenged' when invading female single sex spaces?

This is Moley's version

Ah - it wasn't threading correctly for me. The paper is further down the series of tweets https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S004269892200133X

JKR shared this LinkedIn article on X about how employers and HR need to think about toilet access in view of the FWS verdict. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/women-scotland-v-scottish-ministers-seven-red-flags-peter-daly-oew2e

If I were Stonewall I’d be checking my legal protection insurance ready for the huge lawsuits coming my way.

Even if it were true that the KC was trans that would be inclusivity not hypocrisy.
I think that the KC who acted for Amnesty is trans.

OMG! Do they seriously think that someone is a QC or a KC based on their "gender identity"?

That's even more fucked up than I could imagine.

Spotted on Twitter. Very much hoping this is some sort of meta joke because dear God, they can't be that stupid, surely?

I wonder what happened in September 2022 that might explain this...

anyolddinosaur · 26/04/2025 09:05

Saw my first "unisex" toilet today. A4 sized sheet of paper stuck over whatever sign was there before - cant remember. They also have separate male and female toilets. Stuck my head in the outside door and it's 2 cubicles, no urinals and a sink outside the doors so I probably wouldnt use it unless OH was in the other one or I was desperate. Didnt look safe for women at all.

JumpingPumpkin · 26/04/2025 06:51

Anyone else enjoying waking up listening to R4 at the moment? This morning was a news bulletin reading out key points of the EHRC guidance. It’s like being in a terf dream and waking up to it being real.

ErrolTheDragon · 25/04/2025 22:34

Probably sounded better in their head.
