I'd be classed as asexual. Nobody asked me if I wanted a 'day of recognition'. I don't. Having to deal with awkward questions from well-meaning relatives about the fact that I'm a spinster is not oppression. Anyone who thinks it is seriously needs to study history.

The most bizarre forced teaming I've seen is trying to include asexual people in Pride parades. I can't think of many places I'd like to be less than a parade full of barely-clothed people celebrating their sexualities and assorted fetishes.

I'm not proud of being uninterested in sex. I'm not proud of being uninterested in football either. Neither is a big deal.

Why do you guys hate asexuals/asexuality so much?

Did she go after ‘the asexuals’ or did she go after those who think those that don’t feel any sexual feelings deserve their own day of visibility? There’s a difference, which has been covered if you’d read the whole thread.

She is a wit and fair enough she has a problem with India Willoughby but why did she go after the asexuals? In these days of ‘everyone needs a label’ they just wanted a day of recognition. I think she was unnecessarily harsh tbh.

@Waitwhat23 and @myplace I agree with you both, what I find alternately amusing/enraging is that if any one of these apologists/idealogues bothered to read anything about the history of women, they would know that we, as a sex class, don’t give in to injustice or misogyny, we never have. Unlike men, we don’t kill the people/men, who oppress us, we defy them, we educate them, we show them our strengths. Many women have been lost along the way, but we won’t stop fighting for our right to exist as women, for our right to safety and at the moment for our absolute right to say that men cannot be women.

They’ve tried calling us bigots, they’ve tried telling us to be kind, they’ve tried threatening to rape and kill us, and now they’re telling us we’re all Trump supporting, right wingers, and none of it will work, because even as delusional as some of them are, biological facts win every time.

There are some very patient people on this thread. And some people who are either persistently disingenuous, or persistently slightly dim. It’s not always easy to tell.
