Imagine if these men had ever had enough respect to listen to a woman for once in their lives. I mean not just pretend to listen. I mean listen absorb and process the information spoken. And to actually think 'oh this has value, i am going to remember that rather than immediately dismiss it and forget it instantly'

I'm sorry you're going through this. My ds is on the fringes with a lot of his friends expressing various gender IDs and at least two have cut ties with parents because of insufficient reverence of the gender-cult so I see it's a risk. It does seem to mostly involve "I am who I say I am" though with some mild gender-non conformity and spicy haircuts rather than hormones or permanent modifications.

If its any consolation, scant I know, oestrogen seems to do less of a number on the male body than testosterone does on the female body. As long as they stop short of genital surgery there's always a way back.

I suspect that a good 90% of those posting on that Reddit thread are describing their rich fantasy life rather than stuff actually happening.

From another perspective, my lovely son says he is trans. He knows how I feel so but I don't want to be cut off so basically, we don't talk about it & I live in hope he will leave the 'cult' and 'grow out of it'. I am utterly, utterly terrified of him taking hormones and the potential effects on his body. He hasn't said anything either way. He's away at Uni so I don't get the opportunity to chat F2F often and want him to be happy and safe coming home.

Agree. And that's why I don't accept the viewpoint we sometimes see that "women didn't mind a few transexuals in our spaces back in the day".

I suppose I am one of the women they're referring to, although I'd love to know why they say 'full uterus removal' (wtf) rather than just boring old hysterectomy. Had a hysterectomy, can confirm that I don't have periods, am on HRT and have pain, but that's because I've got endometriosis, and these men on reddit are just full of shit, which is presumably what's causing the diarrhoea that they like to pretend is a period.

However, I digress. I think we should stop trying to push back against this with biology and accurate descriptions of the menstrual cycle, and the reason for that is that these men know full well that they aren't having periods. They find pretending that they are having periods sexually exciting. They may well also find talking about it with other people exciting, and the same goes for arguing with women who say no you're not.

However because it's quite difficult for Dave from accounts to rock up to a meeting clutching a heating pad and telling everyone he's got period pain without senior management deciding that it's time to quietly manage him out of his job, men like Dave are acting this pretense out online, where they can anonymously larp with no fear of real world repercussions. Men used to do this in private, now they do it online where we can see them. It's well known that scat play is a thing, as is playing with urine, breastmilk and even vomit. It's not a great leap to understand that for some men, playacting menstruation is the thing that turns them on. This may well be something they only do online - I wouldn't be surprised if quite a few of them present as normal men IRL and their woman persona only exists online.

I am a little horrified tho. A lot of the men say that they're excited, and it's affirming. Looking for normal mood swings, or side effects from medication in order to pretend you're having a period?

It's like me having a pee and pretending I'm ejaculating. And no, I might not be able to get anyone pregnant, but that's not reeely the point of sperm.

I might go to the doctor and see how far this gets me because today I had a twinge in my groin: I identity as a male and I’m concerned I may have a testicular torsion. I have no testicles but I’m post menopausal and I’m on Letrozole so my low oestrogen makes this a plausible scenario.

If I go to the GP for gynae issues, she will ask me when was the first day of my last period. This is the day I starting bleeding. This is a period. Being grumpy, feeling emotional or having intestinal cramps does not constitute a period. I can't believe we are having to say this over and over.

To the Reddit dwellers.......

I was reminded of those Kids Say The Funniest Things! type programmes where they ask a small child questions like "what's a mortgage?" and "what do people do when they work in an office?" The child then responds volubly and confidently using something they overheard their Aunty Clare say in hushed tones, interesting words from songs their older brother plays and their imagination.

I wonder if they've dug out some material on hysterectomy not necessarily being a complete cure for endometriosis due to potential presence of endometrial tissue outside of the uterus.

Completely irrelevant of course to the experience of all TW.
