Helen Webberly of Gender GP posted a video comparing protecting women's sports with a mouth swab for sex verification to auschwitz.

If sex is registered, it needs to be on the basis of sex. Gender or gender identity is not relevant to anything or anyone.

Thanks, AnonMedic, that's interesting. It's all a bit murky, isn't it?

I've lost a fair bit of respect for the GMC recently. Dr Upton being de-regged and re-regged as female, for one. Another doctor convicted of sexual abuse and yet not struck off, somehow.

I'm not clear what exactly it would take to bring the profession into disrepute.

I suspect that in this case it may be as simple as HW deciding that the benefits of remaining registered w/o license weren't worth the annual registration fee - which would fit with the administrative erasure. And I wouldn't blame her for that, as it's not cheap and she isn't working as a doctor.

I don't know what counts as bringing the profession into disrepute in this context either, but I suspect that the bar would be high. I haven't watched the HW videos, but I suspect I would find them offensive - but I don't have a right not to be offended, and I'm not sure what the GMC would do about them without setting a precedent for interfering with speech that I don't find offensive but others do. (In contrast, for example, if Dr X were practicing medicine without an active license I would expect the GMC to take action.)

The censoring of registrant history if the registrant changes their registered gender was clearly wrong - and I'm glad that some action will be taken on that! I think the Upton case has brought a lot of things that many weren't aware of into public discussion, and this is a good thing.

Personally I don't see why either sex or gender should be on the register - it is not on the register for other registered professions. For example, here is NC's entry with the BSB. It includes her (presumably chosen) title - but not her gender identity or sex https://www.barstandardsboard.org.uk/barristers-register/14DB5C31616875217081E610589639AA.html Of course, one might make the argument that a patient has a more valid interest in the sex of their doctor than the sex of their lawyer - and I would certainly agree with that - but in an emergency you don't look up a doctor's registered gender with the GMC, you look at the doctor in front of you to see if they are male or female and then give your consent (or not). And if you go eg to outpatients, you are not always aware in advance of the name of the consultant you will see - and even if you do know, that person may not be there, or you may see another team member anyway. (So you may be able to look up the name on the register before attending, but you might not end up seeing that person.)

If a patient finds out after the event that the doctor they saw was not the sex they had been led to believe, the registered sex or gender of the doctor doesn't change the fact that this breach has happened. (Although seeing the registered gender may alter how the patient feels harmed.)

I don't know what the answer is. I do know that a lot more people are thinking critically about this since the Peggie tribunal - and I wonder whether those who might want to take some sort of action about this issue are waiting to find out the outcome of FWS before deciding which action(s) to take (or not).

(There was a Michael Foran sub stack post recently, yesterday I think, about same sex intimate care which may be of interest 🙂)

The interesting thing about the registration page is that it doesn't match what she says. "Administrative Reason" usually means the doctor hasn't paid the registration fee, or the GMC can't track them down because eg they haven't updated their address. It's action the GMC takes itself.

Dr Webberley's account is that because there is "no exam for treatment of transgender people" she voluntarily relinquished her license. If that had happened, the register would say "Not registered – Having relinquished registration."

It is possible to remain registered without a license. This is what happens if a doctor has done nothing wrong but cannot revalidate (a process that happens every five years) because they have not worked enough in that previous five years to complete revalidation - eg because of illness. This is what seems to have happened in summer 2024, when Dr Webberley was unable to revalidate as a GP as she was not really working as a GP and was just doing "gender medicine" - which is not recognised by the GMC, so is not something one can revalidate in. I think this is what she is describing in the link posted above, and the register shows her as registered without a license between July and October 2024. (It doesn't mean the GMC "took her license away" as she says - because the license is something that exists only if you fulfil the requirements for it, you either revalidate or the license doesn't exist. If you are found impaired and practice is restricted, that that restriction is on both the registration and the license.)

She now appears to have no relationship with the GMC, either by accident or deliberately. If one is a registrant but has no license one is still bound by some of the GMC's codes of behaviour. The GMC has taken action against doctors for social media behaviour that is far less inflammatory than this, but no one can ask the GMC to take action as they cannot remove a registrant who is no longer a registrant! Although they potentially can take legal action against former registrants and licensees who they perceive as bringing the profession into disrepute if the individual is using the status of being a doctor as part of the behaviour the GMC objects to. If anyone is concerned that this current behaviour reaches that threshold they can alert the GMC via the "concerns" section of the website. (I honestly don't know what kind of conduct would warrant a GMC response when a doctor isn't registered, but I suspect it would be things like continuing to practice medicine - which she doesn't seem to be doing.)

That's very interesting, thank you.

That really is a wonderful little speech.

'I think it it is difficult to get your head around it, um, and you know how can somebody who was born a male actually be a female?'

(Obviously, they can't.)

'But if we just put that aside,'

(If we just disregard the truth)

'it's true, it is true that people thought you were a boy when you were born, but actually it's, it's a girl.'

(Accept the impossible. This is the basis of faith.)

'And if we can just go back to that basic premise each time we're confused about it,'

(Stop thinking. Stop trying to make sense. Stop asking questions. If you don't accept my faith you are 'confused'.)

'and understand that transgender people exist and they're beautiful then this world will be a better place''

It reveals entirely a faith based premise. 'If everyone will only believe that men are women when I say they are, everything will be wonderful.'

It's not often you see people spell it out this clearly.

I am delighted Helen has accepted the mission to spread the gospel of trans. I hope her words are going to be shared widely to a huge audience.

https://www.gendergp.com/helen-webberley-faqs-about-withdrawal-license-to-practise/

'FAQ: Will you still be a doctor?
Dr Helen Webberley: My medical qualification gives me the right to be known as a doctor. I qualified from Birmingham Medical School in 1992. As a result, I will always be a Doctor of Medicine. I am immensely proud of this qualification, and I hold my head up high.
I fiercely fought to keep my license to practice during my GMC investigation process. Still, even after the High Court declared me safe to practice, the GMC has chosen to withdrawal my license. That saddens me greatly, but my work will continue.
FAQ: Can you still treat patients?
Dr Helen Webberley: What will change now that I don’t have a license to practise medicine in the UK?
I can talk to people, I can share my knowledge, and I can signpost people to recommended guidelines and resources. However, I won’t have a license to give individual, personalised medical advice. I won’t be able to say something like, “Based on what you have told me, I will make this diagnosis and I will prescribe this medication.”
I won’t be able to diagnose medical conditions nor prescribe medication. I won’t be able to carry out and interpret investigations nor act on the results. I will be unable to sign death certificates or other types of medical certificates. Additionally, I won’t be able to have a consultation with a patient that results in me giving them medical advice or treatment.'

But this is a doctor. She shouldn’t be setting anything aside.

how is gender gp allowed? She’s got no licence and is de registered? So she employs other doctors to prescribe and they are abroad?

I can’t fathom it at all

She's not medically practising anymore, instead she's doing some sort of vague 'educational' work.

So yes, other docs will do the prescribing.

It is quite remarkable.to see it set out like that by a believer.

Just set reality aside, and all things become true.

Webberley's guest:

Age six 'I kept like girl stuff more than guy stuff, but I'd be forced to go and
do the what boys would do, um, and I tried to deal with that all through childhood
teenagers, young adult, and it just never went away, it was just always there. I'd
always be more drawn to being more feminine than masculine'

This is the full and entire theory of 'gender'.

And here's Helen on self identifying as a girl, boy, or llama:

'I've talked to many transgender children in my time - beautiful, um conversations - and I was talking to a a little transgender girl, and I said - so, this is when I was learning my language and navigating my own pathway around this -and I said: 'So, what what is it that makes you want to be a girl, instead of a boy? Why do you think that you want to be a girl instead of a boy?', and she said: 'Dr Webberley, I am a girl'. And so it's not about wanting to identify as a girl, or wanting to be a girl, or wanting to identify as a llama or be a llama - it's about being that thing'.

'and so it - I, I shut off when people do that dog, llama, cat thing. Uh, you know, please, you know, go away, um, this is about people who are a girl or a boy or a man or a woman deep inside them, in every single, every single part of their heart and body and soul is female'.

Paper cuts?

ArabellaScott · 09/04/2025 09:31

Webberley gets very enthusiastic talking about surgery:

'Actually, down below, um, it's, it's just amazing if you - if you look, look at
embryonic development, um, what turns into what you know the female, um, vulva uh, is is the scrotum and so if you just kind of remove the, remove the testicles and refashion it you you end up with a female vulva.

Um, there's a beautiful entrance into the pelvis which is, is where the vagina goes and simp - and it's there whether you have XY chromosomes or XX chromosomes - so you can just invert it and put some skin in um in, in, in various different ways. Um, and then you can you can, um, create a, a beautifully um aesthetically pleasing um vulva and vagina. It's, it's amazing to watch as a, as a doctor I find it absolutely fascinating'.

TheOtherRaven · 09/04/2025 08:04

I'm sure Mengele would have wholly agreed with her.

The absolute using of anyone and anything with no capacity for understanding of it besides how it works for personal leverage is an ongoing and quite awful aspect of this political movement.

She’s scared because her source of income will be disappearing. Horrible woman.
