The interview is a joke. There are huge issues surrounding Stonewall - the US funding and the withdrawal of it, the mass withdrawals from the Diversity Champions programme, so called "Stonewall Law", the organisation's finances..

Didn't touch on any of them. Focusedvon conversion therapy, which the Gov has already said it will outlaw.

Utter puff piece from the Guardian.

What examples of conversion therapy are currently legal in the UK?

'It can include talking therapies and prayer, but more extreme forms can include exorcism, physical violence and food deprivation.' (What is conversion therapy and when will it be banned? - BBC News)

Obviously physical violence and food deprivation are unlikely to be legal in the UK, but it is appropriate (and often done) to legislate on a specific topic, even when there are overlapping laws already. Abuse can still be perpetuated in talking 'therapy' and I am sure there are historical cases of exorcism abuse too.

What is conversion therapy and when will it be banned?

The government plans to ban practices aimed at changing people's sexual orientation or gender identity.

From the BBC article:

'Simon Blake, chief executive at Stonewall, said their research showed a ban needed to be brought in "as quickly as possible."
He said: "This bill is about banning conversion practices and making sure that unacceptable practices, which tell people who they are is not OK, have no place in this country.
"It's about telling people this is not acceptable."
A government spokesperson said: "Conversion practices are abuse - such acts have no place in society and must be stopped.
"We remain committed to bringing forward legislation to finally ban these abusive practices, starting with publishing the draft Bill later this session."'

'“It’s absolutely right that Stonewall became trans inclusive in 2015,” said Blake, drawing a distinction between the “public narrative” and “practical reality” that followed.
...
Blake, who acknowledged there has been “huge division” over the issue, said that Stonewall had always navigated “incredibly well” through different views, with equal marriage as a recent example.
But some critics of Stonewall have pinpointed what they felt was the organisation’s own unwillingness to engage in respectful exchanges, be that with its earlier “no debate” policy on trans rights or previous boss Nancy Kelley comparing gender critical beliefs to antisemitism.
Blake said: “I have heard that view, but looking ahead I’m clear we have only made progress and will only make progress through endless conversations with people who may share none or some of the same views.'
