Trump team to stop family-planning funding as it reviews whether it’s being used for DEI programs

The Trump administration is planning to freeze tens of millions of dollars in federal grants to organizations providing family planning and other reproductive health services, as it reviews whether the funds violate the president’s order to cease all government-backed diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) work.

A Health and Human Services spokesperson told The Wall Street Journal, which reported on the plan, that the department was reviewing grants to make sure they complied with the crackdown on DEI.

The freeze to the Title X program could impact as much as $120 million worth of grants to a network of roughly 4,000 clinics providing free and discounted pregnancy testing, contraception, sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing and treatment, and evaluations and testing for infertility.

Planned Parenthood, whose affiliates could lose roughly $20 million if the paused grants are ultimately cut, reacted with alarm.

“The Trump-Vance-Musk administration wants to shut down Planned Parenthood health centers by any means necessary, and they’ll end people’s access to birth control, cancer screenings, STI testing and treatment, and more to do it,” Planned Parenthood Federation of America CEO Alex McGill Johnson told the newspaper.

So what you're saying is you can't answer my question?

You can't explain why it does not seem to be detrimental to women to live in countries that have self-ID laws, and that women who live in these countries enjoy the highest levels of wellbeing and equality with men?

There is no question to answer. You are basically asking if a country is performing well economically, why is domestic violence a bad thing? It shows you genuinely believe correlation equals causation and have a fundamental inability to think critically.

That you think it's not detrimental to women to have fully intact males in female spaces simply because some country does well economically shows there is a fundamental problem with the critical thinking wiring.

suggestions, I made a whole thread especially for you to debate this report, which has been discussed innumerable times, the flaws and problems with it pointed out many times. Because you are very wedded to this report, and this report only. It's still there for you to use!

Because they record men as women.

I've already explained how recording transwomen in data for women (if this is indeed what happens) would lower the overall scores for the category, as transwomen score poorly across the measures that are looked.

There is nothing to compare. There is no valid comparison between self ID and top performing economic countries, any more than there is domestic violence and top economic performing countries, or even rape and top performing countries. You've been told this repeatedly.

Try looking at some of the data on trans people's education levels, employment status, physical and mental health, income levels etc etc perhaps?

This proves what? Nothing. They are males. With male privilege. We know some males have high income levels, education levels, employment status, physical and mental health, and others lower.

suggestionsplease1 · 29/03/2025 09:00

TheGentleOpalMember · 29/03/2025 08:56

Transwomen are the most powerful and privileged group out. They retain male privilege. On every single level.

This is not a good explanation. You have not quantified domestic violence against women's social or economic wellbeing scores, which you would need to try to do to try to establish the nature of such a relationship.

If men ( I assume you mean transwomen) are included in this data this would bring down the scores for women's equality as trans women score poorly in the measures that they look at.

All the measures?

suggestionsplease1 · 29/03/2025 08:58

TheGentleOpalMember · 29/03/2025 08:49

Again, correlation does not equal causation.

It's like saying because the top rating countries have domestic violence, it therefore means domestic violence doesn't harm women economically or socially.

The data is irrelevant to self-ID, ie males being in female only spaces, being harmful to women.

Why have they not rolled them back?
Misogyny. (facepalm).

Why are they still at the top of the tables for women' equality if these measures are so detrimental for women?

Because they include men in all their measures of women’s equality 🤦‍♀️

The onus is on those believing that gender self-ID is problematic for women to explain this data.

Go ahead, if gender self-ID is so dangerous and problematic for women, why do 8 out of 10 of the top countries in the world for women's equality have gender self ID laws? Why have they not rolled them back? Why are they still at the top of the tables for women' equality if these measures are so detrimental for women?

Posting your link suggests you believe it proves the top countries are top for women because they have self ID. Repeating that untrue assertion does not make it so.

And those 'stats' tell us absolutely nothing about self ID not being harmful to women.

If you didn't believe correlation equals causation, you wouldn't persist in posting that link.

This would be so funny if it were not serious for women. It sits right up there with saying Saudi Arabia must be great on human rights because they have been elected chair of the UN Woman’s Right Commission, rather than showing the disdain with which both organisations hold women’s rights.

Exactly, it's batshit crazy.

PippistrelleBat · 29/03/2025 08:44

suggestionsplease1 · 29/03/2025 08:32

This is a fundamental misapprehension.

You are presumably aware that there are plenty of countries who, in your opinion, can't define a woman (have gender self ID laws) who sit at the top of the equality leagues for women, and have not dropped down these tables despite having had gender self ID laws for some time now?

According the the Global Gender Gap Index, out of the top 10 countries in the world for women 8 of them have gender self -ID laws, several for some time now.

Nobody has debunked anything here.

Repeating an untrue assertion does not make it so.

Neither have I said anywhere correlation equals causation, I have 6 years of studying stats and I believe this was the very first lesson we had.

Like Malta, where abortion is banned apart from very exceptional circumstances but which has self-ID, official recognition of non-binary genders, and free "gender-affirming surgeries"?

Or Iran, the state where the most state sponsored gender reassignment operations are performed? How are women's reproductive rights doing there?

Re-bumping for a certain poster.

Again, it's about WOMENS rights, not 'trans rights'. It never, ever, EVER was about 'trans rights'. Er, that's the entire point.

And if women cannot be defined, cannot participate in society because there are no safe facilities for women to go; our economic, physical and emotional health are stuffed.

It ALL comes back to defining women to defend women and to providing safe health and facilities for women to go. It's basically the lynchpin womens rights revolves around.

And most of the attacks were based on being unable to grasp that Planned Parenthood sterilise children. Not only does PP provide puberty blockers but have so far refused to release the data on it and it has been subject to a court order in Missouri, but they also provide teenagers with oestrogen and testosterone. When you commit a male who has been on puberty blockers to oestrogen, that’s when the final sterilisation happens, because there’s no chance that puberty will be allowed to resume and sperm to develop.

Left the thread for a while and not caught up with the messages. But based on earlier messages I would say most of the attacks were because poster did grasp this and were not wanting others to know. Hence the faux concern that reproductive health services would be affected.

Its not a ‘supposed’ deletion and only 1 poster could possibly be accused of ‘celebrating’

the deletions were personal attacks, the non personal attacks still stand…even though ‘the voice’ isn’t exactly the same as others on FWR

your posts haven’t been deleted melissa even though your ‘voice’ isnt exactly the same
