Feminism: Sex and gender discussions
VaddaABeetch · 21/03/2025 09:18

I wonder if Victoria is reaching out from beyond the grave to have a laugh.

I miss Vic show would have made mincemeat of the gender stuff.

this is the equivalent of Aunty dancing at a wedding for her? Complete with a ‘jazzy’ jacket. I say this as a 56 year old.

Lottapianos · 21/03/2025 09:15

'I was curious so listened to the introduction where Gillian says she included submissions from men who say they are women. And then went on to note a new fast growing category: lactation-based fantasy. I could see the correlation, Gillian however did not. I didn't bother going any further.'

Oh FFS Gillian! 🤦🏻‍♂️ How incredibly idiotic of her. I thought her book sounded like a load of cringe so avoided it anyway but I didn't know there were men in there too. Shouldn't be surprised I guess ...

lifeturnsonadime · 21/03/2025 09:13

They is a bit different isn't they?

What a load of old bollocks. Was she worried she's becoming irrelevant/ invisible?

Coffeeishot · 21/03/2025 09:13

JPC123 · 20/03/2025 19:41

She says something along the lines of her family either thinking she was extremely masculine or extremely feminine at any given time as she was either jumping out of trees or dancing around in make up….

i don’t see this as being unusual, surely it is normal childhood? All of my children, of both sexes, enjoy these activities.

This could be me ? I'm not particularly one way or other but still a girl then woman. I wouldn't say I'm just a person, what an odd way to think.

RedHelenB · 21/03/2025 09:10

We're people first and foremost though, I agree with her on that

BackToLurk · 21/03/2025 09:10

Another person brought up in an apparently conservative household with rigid ideas about what’s appropriate behaviour for girls and boys, I see.

Brock Colyar on Pronouns, Identifying as Nonbinary

"These days, it feels as if an identity that, not long ago, felt unique to me in most rooms I entered has gone mass. Yes, part of what I’m personally upset about is the fact that this thing I loved isn’t so alt anymore. But more than that, it feels as if pronoun culture has contributed to nonbinary becoming just the third gender after male and female, more static and concrete than its original fluid intentions. The same nonbinary person who complained about nonbinary stereotypes lamented to me, “I don’t want to be a homogeneous normcore mashing of the two genders.” Ben hoped, “If man or woman can mean so many things, then so can nonbinary.” We all became nonbinary to escape gendered expectations, and now we’re stuck again. I can’t help but think that the walking-on-eggshells battle for pronouns is turning my gender into a human-resources-approved corporate product, more neutered than neutral, and, maybe above all else, profoundly unromantic. Next time, just call me by my name."

They, Then and Now

Asking for pronouns has become a social standard. Who is it serving?

60 year old soap actress who's desperate for any kind of relevance and publicity forgoes being 'female'...to achieve what exactly?
Her agent must have reached the bottom of the barrel with this one! Precisely nobody will find it edgy or interesting.

Didn't someone ridiculous like Demi Lovato claim she was NB at one point, and that girl who married a 60yo paedo at 16, Courtney Stodden. Still wore stripper heels and enormous extensions, bucket loads of makeup and tiny skirts though? This was about five years ago.

Surely that ship has sailed as far as celebrity revelations go?

DialSquare · 21/03/2025 08:53

Poor Shobna . There she is thinking she's all so edgy when the rest of us are cringing at her jumping on the bandwagon just as it's crashed into a ditch.

XXylophonic · 21/03/2025 00:49

I've started googling my favourite actors to see their views and it's really fucking disappointing.
I googled Gillian Anderson and she's all about her trans sisters etc.
I refuse to believe they all believe TWAW, they're just saying this because they don't want to be cancelled and make $$$ from being TWAW..
I don't give a shit if they come out later saying 'oh but we had to, we were forced to' no you didn't. You will be held accountable

As an aside and not meaning to derail, Gillian Anderson, apparently confusing her real life with a part she has played, has released a book on "female" sexual fantasies called Want, a sort of modern follow on from Nancy Friday's books. I was curious so listened to the introduction where Gillian says she included submissions from men who say they are women. And then went on to note a new fast growing category: lactation-based fantasy. I could see the correlation, Gillian however did not. I didn't bother going any further.

The "look at me" enbies are so silly. The idea that everybody who doesn't declare this vainglorious identity is just a set of sex-based stereotypes is offensive bollocks and deeply regressive.

LadyKenya · 21/03/2025 08:39

Looking good for 60 though. Go girl.

AnyFucker · 21/03/2025 08:32

Bobbins

Lottapianos · 21/03/2025 08:25

How sad that at almost 60 she can't look back at the judgement she got from her family and realise that she was just being a little girl, and it was them who had the problem, not her

Or she's just jumping on a bandwagon and it's all for attention 🤷🏻

Buffypaws · 21/03/2025 08:17

PrettayGood · 20/03/2025 20:35

What a load of old shite. Embarrassed for her.

My thoughts exactly

RedToothBrush · 21/03/2025 08:14

Gosh. How has she coped for the last 58 years without a trendy label and having a special tick box?

That sounds you hear? That's Victoria laughing in her grave at how daft this is.

This is a woman who campaigns for women's rights in other parts of the world and has gone through periods, pregnancy and menopause.

Oh dear. Yes the only thing that makes sense is wanting some publicity.

TrouserTownie · 21/03/2025 07:41

WivVestwood · 21/03/2025 07:32

That’s really funny.

let’s not forget that Hayley was once Harold in Corrie. 🤣

TRAs would hate the Hayley character nowadays. Not least because she was played by an actual woman!

mum2jakie · 21/03/2025 07:37

Just seen this on GMTV. Yawn...

WivVestwood · 21/03/2025 07:32

MysticCatLady · 21/03/2025 00:58

I think this is fantastic!

The next time a teenager says they think they are non binary, the only correct reply now will be 'oh, like that lady from Coronation Street?' 😂

That’s really funny.

let’s not forget that Hayley was once Harold in Corrie. 🤣

Username65 · 21/03/2025 07:27

She’s apparently “coming out” on GMTV in a minute

The absolute worst is Margaret Atwood.

She knows. Everyone knows she knows. The wrote THE book about female oppression.

She made a fairly mild comment about not being allowed to say what a woman is or something along those lines, and was immediately attacked by trans activists.

She could have said, "Oh, I recognise this. This is authoritarianism. I don't like authoritarianism. The Handmaid's Tale is about that as well as female oppression. This is a fundamental women's rights issue, as well as a free speech issue. Now I understand what JK Rowling is talking about."

Instead, she looked at how healthy her bank balance now is thanks to her super trendy collaboration with Hulu, and how relevant she had become in her 80s, and recanted.

UptonFunk · 21/03/2025 06:36

popefully · 20/03/2025 20:05

Just get all the Loose Women, TV chat show hosts and newsreaders to reveal they are non binary (and mums! ) and it'll be over in a week.

I think you’re on to something there.
Do think Lorraine Kelly would be up for it?

LadyBracknellsHandbagg · 21/03/2025 06:32

XXylophonic · 20/03/2025 23:44

We just had a chat and she talked about my childhood (the 70's and 80's) when girls could ride skateboards and jump trees down the riverbank, and boys could bake cakes if they wanted to. And doesn't understand all this 'trans nonsense' because girls and boys can be anything they want- and parents letting their children cut their bits off is sick and they're the sick ones and should have their children taken off them. And David Tennant is sick.
So yeah, I think my mum is GC

I bloody love your mum!

LemograssLollipop · 21/03/2025 06:12

That article is so badly written.
Apparently she speaks to a random tech guy and 'finds the words' ..🙄, it's laughable

WarriorN · 21/03/2025 06:06

When parents started using Facebook all the kids scarpered so hopefully there will be a similar pattern

WarriorN · 21/03/2025 06:05

Rapid onset gender attention seeking

Bet she shaves her legs

both my mum and her sister wanted to be boys in the 50s.
