Dropping in an example of sexual offences for which 850 men a month are arrested. We’re told that 80% aren’t jailed (no information about convictions) and that “830,000 adults in the UK, 1.6% of the population, pose a threat to children “. From figures like these arrest rates, the dominant majority is men but the language obscures this. NB that % should have been quoted as the adult population as per the linked source. So, that would indicate that 2.5-3% of adult men pose some degree of sexual risk to children.

If official statistics report this so nebulously then how can we begin to address it or understand risk?

I've just written almost this exact paragraph ( and more!) as comment on a financial investing survey commissioned by the captured FCA. Only asked gender. Will skew data inappropriately.

The Observer has been great previously but this is the type of clarity that could lead to a tipping point, where people step of the fence of "it's complicated, I just want to support a marginalised minority" and start actually listening to and understanding the harmful impacts of this enforced belief in gender identity.

Like 'trans female' meaning literally 'male female', it just enters the realm of failure of any shared meaning or purpose, and a lot of personal indulgence.

I appreciate it's rhetorical, but sadly I think you might have answered your own question in the way you described the quote.

As is becoming increasingly obvious to the public (I think), also sadly some people really do get off on getting this type of stuff into public policy.... 🤮 and "coincidentally" seem to find themselves in roles where they can achieve that.

I don’t think the government can ignore it completely. The way the nhs operates they would be wide open to future law suits if they ignore it. The same is true for some other areas too. It will enable more people to ask honestly « do you mean sex or gender? »
