Wellbeing of Women, M&S Charity

Looking at my Sparks app today, I discovered the attached info. It suggests to switch to supporting this charity in support of IWD. I am pleasantly surprised as it looks very clearly for women/females. Am I missing something? I don't want to rush to switch and abandon the RSPB

They are a good one. I am a researcher and know about them (they support lots of good work in relation to health of girls and women).

I'm pretty sure M&S think men can be women, so their version of "women" may not be as clear cut as we would like to think.

@HootyMcBoobysthat is why I was asking but they very clearly talk about “women” and use the word “female”. I think the RSPB will have to do without me for a while

Wellbeing of Women are a good charity. They fund research into gynaecological conditions.

The word "women" appears prominently on their website.

Wouldn’t touch any recommendation related to women from M&S.
They think women can have a penis.

Thank you, that's valuable information, there's so much valid suspicion about 'women's' organisations that we can really only trust first-hand info like this.
And a step in the right direction if M&S are now supporting them.

Could someone explain what the Sparks app is all about, I'm used to putting money in a tin, all these new fangled ways of donating are passing me by. I don't want to just upload the app until I know what it's about.

Thanks @DavrosI currently support Shelter via my Sparks card but will switch.

@TheywontletmehavethenameIwantSparks is the M&S equivalent of the Tesco club card/Nectar card except frankly it’s a bit useless. Points go to charity (which I like) but the offers are useless. They used to do a great Christmas Advent calendar but stopped that last year. The one excellent advantage is that if I scan my card they will email me my receipt

@MarieDeGournayvery well said, my views entirely. Sparks has become quite useless imo, you have to spend at least £7 to get a pound off, it’s not usually worth it. I’ve noticed that collecting tins have almost disappeared everywhere, maybe since Covid, I don’t know. I like dropping my change into a tin at the check out.

It’s just like a loyalty card. Occasionally you’ll get offers such as 20% off women’s men’s clothing, shoes etc. They also give you discounts on some food products. I also get digital receipts so it’s simple to compare my weekly shop with previous weeks.
if you sign up you can choose which charity you’d like M&S to support on your behalf. You don’t personally donate anything.
I support Together for Short Lives.

Wellbeing of women seem to have been able to steer a steady path and stick to female/women when talking about women's health, when others have ditched our name on favour of 'people with ovaries' etc. It shows that it can be done. I don't know if they attracted any scorn because of it, I hope nor.

Inclusivity policy
Wellbeing of Women work to improve women’s reproductive and gynaecological health, but it is important to recognise that it is not only people who identify as women for whom our work is relevant.
There are trans men, and non-binary and intersex people, who require access to information, treatment, care and support relating to gynaecological and reproductive health.
We aim to be inclusive and sensitive to the needs of those individuals whose gender identity does not align with the sex they were assigned at birth.

Just picked this up from their website and it looks positive. They appear quite clear that their inclusivity is geared to biological females, regardless of their gender ID.

They are female centred.

My priority as a feminist is that all females are cared for, even the ones who hold views I find regressive and nonsensical.

This women's charity does not include males from what I have read but they've been inclusive and sensitive which is also the best thing they can do to protect themselves from our kind and demure friends.
