Elon Musk's trans daughter outs him for sex-selective IVF ie he wants sons

Some of the wording in the article are not exactly FWR, but am posting more because (and it may not be true) the 15 (?) children he now has are because women have willing acting as "hosts" for IVF created babies. (Not surprised he would only want sons.)

In a post on Threads on Monday, Wilson — who is estranged from her father and frequently calls him out on social media — accused Musk of viewing her as “going against the product that was sold” when she came out as trans.

“My assigned sex at birth was a commodity that was bought and paid for. So when I was feminine as a child and then turned out to be transgender, I was going against the product that was sold. That expectation of masculinity that I had to rebel against all my life was a monetary transaction. A monetary transaction. A MONETARY TRANSACTION.”

Musk has made headlines over the years for his controversial approach to fatherhood, including his decision to have 14 children in large part because he is concerned with population decline, according to Walter Isaacson’s biography Elon Musk.

Now, Wilson is suggesting that Musk is focused on having boys through IVF. Out of his 14 children, he only has two cisgender daughters and one trans daughter, the rest are boys.

“How the f—k is this legal,” Wilson commented on her own post.

I am probably ok with it used to select a healthy embryo where that would otherwise be a high risk. So screening for life limiting conditions.

Not ok with it being the answer to infertility.

Why are you against it for infertility reasons? Not meaning this as a confrontation just curious as to why

When did FWR become pro-sex selection and pro-surrogacy (caveat: as long as it’s Elon Musk doing it)?

It’s almost as though we have a bunch of people who aren’t actually here for women’s rights at all.

Exactly. The way he uses women's bodies to create his offspring is extreme. It's like he's trying to separate mother and child from the very beginning, starting with IVF, progressing with surrogates, eventually distancing the mother from the children post split.

Are you against IVF using the couples genetics and the genetic mother becoming pregnant? I can't see any moral issue with that?
The only potential moral issue is the discarded fertilised eggs, however that's no different to someone using the progestogen only pill as contraception which avoids the fertilised egg from sucessfully implanting.

AshKeys · 13/03/2025 13:59

There are plenty of moral issues around IVF - not just about discarded embryos or use of other people’s eggs and sperm. It is also a very exploitative industry that preys on couples hopes and which uses fear to add on a range of unproven extras at high cost.

Well I’m one of them, and am firmly against IVF and surrogacy in all circumstances (sorry to those who would find that harsh and distressing).

I also won’t take this troubled person’s claims very seriously as they have an awful lot of reasons to want to rubbish Musk.

If it were all true, it wouldn’t make Musk a monster- at least no more of a monster than all those who have used surrogates to carry their children. And the same kind of monster as everyone else in the states and elsewhere that has chosen the sex of their children by ivf.

If my husband were single and a multibillionare, he would also look and at times act pretty bizarrely. Luckily for him he is neither.

Just a thought bur maybe the ivf is to screen for a specific gene that led to the tragic case of Sids he and his first wife suffered.

@AshKeysDon’t be disingenuous. There have been several “What, there’s nothing to see here, sex selection happens elsewhere this is clearly just Musk Derangement Syndrome”-type comments in this thread from people who are oddly keen on Musk for a bunch of British feminists.

We don’t know if Musk used sex selection, there is just speculation. He also did not use surrogates - posters are likening his use if women to surrogates but it is not the same thing, But feel free to start a thread on sex selection or surrogacy - I am happy to say I am firmly against both (except where sex selection for a narrow range of catastrophic sex-specific genetic conditions). What posters aren’t doing is engaging with wild speculation.

When did fwr get so focused on US politics?

Countless US celebs are using surrogacy, lots of people here are using abortion for sex selection. But somehow its musk who is the focus?

I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm totally opposed to both.

I'm just interested to know whether Musk is doing it, because I'm not convinced that (latest in a long string of wild statements from Musk junior) + (it's the kind of thing we imagine Musk might do) = (Musk is definitely doing it)

It could be true, but we don't yet have a reliable narrator.

My completely unevidenced theory is that Musk has read somewhere about how traces of Gengis Khan's genes are supposedly found in tens of thousands of people today (no, I don't understand how that is supposed to be measured, either, but someone has).

I'm guessing he likes to imagine that if he goes on like this, a few hundred years from now an even larger share of humanity will be his descendants. Sons are a more efficient means to spread your genes into the future than daughters, since they have to put so much less of themselves into any one child.

Point being that he's a narcissist and a materialist who must be quite miffed about his mortality and concerned about his legacy. These mini-mes then would be a psychological buffer against the Grim Reaper.

Who will get him anyway. Ha.

My only disagreement with your otherwise (imo) quite believable theory is the narcissistic "diagnosis". We know he is autistic: I wonder if some of the autistic traits seem, from the outside, like narcissistic ones. Or if both kinds of traits can coexist. I'm completely ignorant of this.

(I'm aware this is just arm chair psychology and I'm derailin the thread btw. I'll let myself out now 🙏)

SionnachRuadh · 13/03/2025 10:34

I mean it's not impossible that Musk read The Boys from Brazil and took it as an instruction manual. Even his admirers say he's very eccentric.

But that feels to me so much like the kind of thing people want to believe about Musk, that I'd like something more to go on than Wilson's word. Wilson says all kinds of crazy stuff.

Echobelly · 13/03/2025 10:19

I'm sure Elon Musk greatly appreciates your gesture of support.

I haven’t seen anyone here discuss any of his specific policies or actions, other than the possibility he might have used sex selection IVF which I don’t support, though we don’t know he did. All I have seen is name calling, ad hominem attacks, misrepresentation and speculation. Which of his actual policies or statements do you want to discuss? Please link to a credible source for those policies or statements. We can then discuss whether I support that or not.

It's not confirmed but given the high proportion of boys and Musk's misogyny, it's wouldn't be at all surprising if he was selecting for boys. I suspect he's one of those men who sees having more sons as projecting an imagine of greater virility and strength. 🙄

Outwiththenorm · 13/03/2025 09:49

SionnachRuadh · 13/03/2025 07:05

Sometimes weird proportions happen in families. My great grandmother had two brothers and ten sisters. Obviously long before IVF was invented, and in a poor family who wouldn't have been IVF users anyway.

As for Musk, I have no idea. I can believe him capable of all sorts of mad transhumanist stuff, but I don't want to go off my preconceptions of Musk and believe everything said about him, even/especially by his estranged son, is true.

Same here - great aunt had 10 sons and 1 daughter. Daughter was the youngest.

My sis in law has had 3 children through IVF. I’m sure we all know of friends/family that have gone through IVF.
As a PP has already said, I doubt Musk’s son has given an unbiased account.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 13/03/2025 09:32

Father acquires extraordinary power and influence, ‘right wing’

Left wing media publishes bizarre rant from son.

Audience reacts according to level of commitment to political view/ common sense/ compassion.

SomewhereinSuberbia · 13/03/2025 09:32

Wilson is estranged from Musk and I think is being used by the trans activist lobby to attack Musk and I don't know if I trust what he is saying as Musk has two daughters, and so he is not ideologically opposed to them, who really knows.

ParrotParty · 13/03/2025 09:30

Well that didn't work very well he has 2 young daughters.
If he did do sex selection for some I would be quite understanding after him losing his first son too. He's an idiot in general but that doesn't stop that being as horrifically traumatic as it is for anyone else.
