It’s truly eye-opening. People who were sentenced for over a 100 years can have a review in 4 years or less.

Commentators also describe the local politics and frank corruption that lead to some outcomes.

We need more Open Justice and streaming in the UK.

It must be a terrifying prospect for Tina to know that her attacker will soon be released. But why should she have to move away and change her identity? She currently has a vital support network for her and her family and is living in her familiar surroundings. It should be the perpetrator who should be restrained from going anywhere near her area. He wouldn't see the light of day if it was my decision. This was more than GBH and why he was not convicted of attempted murder I do not know.

The point is that criminals don't even get locked up for life when they commit murder these days. But I agree he should be banned from living or going into an area at least 50 miles from her home and should wear a tag for the rest if his life miles from her. But I understand why she doesn't want him released.

The link from the petition site to the CF does not seem to be working. How can this man ever be deemed suitable for release? He is playing the system for sure.

The Labour promise of reducing violence against women and girls and here we have this absolute monster up for release and not only that he is in an open prison currently.

If he strikes fear into people who read about him, I can't even imagine how Tina must feel at the thought of his release.

God, it's hardly surprising, given the depravity of his assault on her. I'd be bloody terrified in her situation. The Probation Service has behaved terribly, even if they "only" forgot to inform her in time.

How long will it be before he harms another victim? I damn well hope he is made the subject of one of those orders where he has to tell the Police, if he intends to speak to a woman.

I just signed the petition and read his long list of prior brutal attacks. It also states he has been violent towards an inmate whilst serving his sentence. I feel sick that someone in the justice system has deemed him safe to be released.

This is not justice for Tina who at his hands was brutally attacked and permanently blinded. The fact that she is having to make arrangements to increase her own security is shameful.
