I want to meet other GC women in person

I have the same problem.

I also keep changing my username as I repeatedly over share on the disability or autism or abuse threads. Keep telling myself I will stop but then can't.

I know there are riddles and codes and they go over my head I wish I knew how to learn

I could pm my old user names to prove I'm not a TRA. I'm terrible with recognition of names though so would need a very prolific long term poster to tell me they are safe 😂. I'm in Boiledbeetle book. I'm long rambly and have poor spelling and punctuation in my comments so easy to check the names I give are me 😂

I don't have much opportunity to make friends irl as have high need autistic child I care for full time. Also autistic myself so often people don't like me as I'm different. Had a good group of friends then one child comes out nb, the group disintegrated and i got excluded from new meet up plans because I didn't gush praise and rainbows at their bravery.

I think suffragette colours is effective in signalling you are GC. Does not have to be so obvious as a scarf or pin. If clock you in violet top, green cardigan and a white bag and if you were a person i saw regularly id compliment how well the colours go together. I have lots of feminist slogan T-shirts that get compliments regularly when I'm out, it's usually not a situation I can make a friend as im a carer and wrapped up with that but im sure if I could stop for a chat they would be GC- why else comment as I wear t shirt when not making an effort and definitely do not look good haha

There are WRN groups in Birmingham and Coventry/Warwickshire. Not sure what the issue was in East Midlands, but it should be possible to apply for/get a transfer of membership of whichever WRN group is nearest geographically.

Agree. Once the subject is out in open, most people happy to voice their GC opinion.

There are two women in my extended social circle who have trans DC - both gay sons who are no identifying as women - but other then them, I don’t know a single person who think TWAW, not one.

Would some of you who were directed to a defunct East Mids group be able to get to Birmingham? There are two active GC groups, with some overlap, there, one of which is a WRN group.

I managed to find a few in my town. Through friends of friends etc. We have formed a small group. Meet every 4-6 weeks for sanity & laughs. Wonderful way to meet new women & form friendships.
I recommend it.

yep codes are codes you just have to work them out. I have made a twat of myself on my own journey here but you have to stick at it and dust yourself off if you get a slapping, from the elders.

Who once they know you are genuine, will support you PM you and dust you off, if so required.

Having said all of that i am an older woman i think young GC women also need peer support and that is why i am hanging on in here to see what can be done for Op and all.

Sort of like the cake posts? Only been on here for 15m (was formerly BusyMummy but had a flounce), but have been getting to know which are the established, safe GC posters in that time. Not quite worked out who might be down south, though. Believe some posters are on Ovarit? And other forums?

keep this thread moving, and then with enough geographic information split into geographic groups, and build up trust in user names. Maybe ask a seasoned GC person who is good at spotting TRAs in each group to move things forward.

In my experience these geographic threads would need to embed for a year or two.

There are other places on this board who have successional threads that are as far as we know TRA free as of no interest to them. and sometimes we communicate in riddles and symbolism. But have built up trust.

I'm in a hobby group where it's the opposite.

One person (who's quite loud and, shall we say, contrary) has expressed GC views very clearly on several occasions. I carelessly said "yes" on those occasions, then panicked a bit because all the other hobby group members (less then 10 of us) said nothing. Remained silent 😟

I was very disappointed because I felt like it was more likely people would be GC.

The hobby group demographic is very similar in age etc and some are my friends who I'm still worried about talking to on this issue. 😬

@Bannedontherun depending on where you are in the East Mids, it might be worth getting in touch with the WRNs in neighbouring counties?
I know of some active groups that fall within EMids

I have met several great women in my area through attending let a woman speak events a few years ago pre Covid but it is hard to find each more of us so keeping an eye on this thread. I am SW.

@Bannedontherun , I’m east Mids too with WRN currently disabled. Have to very careful at home.

You'll have to get on a bus or train or into your car and travel. Once you've met up at a WRN event you'll meet other women who may live fairly close by, but you'll need to put in some effort or start a group in your home town/ village if that's what you want. Talk to friends and neighbours, peak a few and start your own social group. That what I've done. Our group meets in the pub once a month and disguises itself as a book group, though the staff rumbled us once they started eavesdropping. Fortunately most of them seem to be GC.

I've found it's quite effective to hang out with most regular women, give a little hint to test the water, such as an eye roll about pronouns, and what do you know? You find you've been hanging out with GC women all along.

The WRN in Medway meets regularly. I'm in Kent but haven't made it to a meet up yet. Definitely worth joining your local WRN if there is one. So wonderful to find like-minded women nearby.

@JazzyJelly I'm in Manchester too! I went to one meet up back in 2018/19 maybe to a very interesting talk held in a church in the city centre but venue not announced until just before so a group of us met at the station. It was great but I'm a single parent too so didn't manage another one but DD is older now so I could escape occasionally (not an undercover TRA honest).

@Cerialkiller I used to live in SCambs. There's a really good meet up but obviously I can't post any details on here.
