This has really annoyed me.

Official documentation from the NHS, aka the national medical professionals, should know that it's ONLY women who have a cervix.

What is this non sentence of all women and people with a cervix?

Anyone want to suggest what wording the Irish health service should have used to replace the word woman [my bolding] in the evidence given about the cancer screening failure?

https://www.irishstatutebook.ie/eli/2019/act/31/enacted/en/print#sec2

Definitions

2. In this Act—

“appropriate person” means—

(a) a relevant woman, or

(b) where a relevant woman has died, a dependant of the relevant woman concerned;

“relevant woman” means—

(a) a woman—

(i) identified as part of the Review of Cervical Screening as having CervicalCheck cytology review findings that were discordant with those of the original cytology examination in relation to the woman concerned, or

(ii) whose cytology slides were sought, by the Review of Cervical Screening, to be re-examined as part of its review but where one or more of those slides could not be re-examined as part of that review by reason of circumstances beyond the control of the woman concerned,

or

(b) a woman who received a diagnosis of cervical cancer—

(i) who had a screening history through CervicalCheck,

(ii) whose diagnosis of cervical cancer was notified to CervicalCheck,

(iii) whose cytology slides were re-examined as part of the retrospective CervicalCheck cytology clinical audit, and

(iv) whose cytology review findings, following the re-examination in accordance with subparagraph (iii), were discordant with those of the original cytology examination in relation to the woman concerned;

Clearly you’re new here…send her this way. Always happy to confirm the reality of sex for people who are confused or don’t want to hear it.

Oh dear. I was simply saying that the nhs letter is probably aimed at non binary and gave an example of someone at my work who is. I did not decide how they identify themselves, nor do I necessarily agree with it or even give a shit - I just choose not to misgender them because it doesn’t bother me whatsoever how someone chooses to identify, literally couldn’t give two hoots. I’m just saying good luck trying to call someone non binary a man or a woman because it’s deeply personal and you’ll end up in an argument/debate - who can be arsed with that? I literally couldn’t care less about someone else’s choice. Literally bin the letter if it bothers you that much.

Chill out. I didn’t bloody label them 😆 I’m just saying how they identify themselves. Good luck telling someone who is non binary that they’re actually a she/her/woman/female. 🤪

Why would we need luck? Facts are facts.

Can you not hear how ridiculous that is? ‘Good luck telling someone who is non binary that they’re actually a she/her/woman/female’ They ARE all of those things, it’s an indisputable fact, only someone with an extremely tenuous grasp of reality would be unable to understand or accept that. So if this non binary woman needed a female specific operation are you saying that no one would be able to tell her or inform her about it? This ideology makes utter fools of the people who support it.

Well she will have issues as in the UK her legal rights and protections are based on being one of 2 sex and/or one of 2 gender according to the judge who ruled that nonbinary is not recognised as a legal classification.

AubernFable · 28/02/2025 21:07

I don’t see that being the case, but I guess it depends on what circles you’re in- it’s possible for sites like this to become an echo chamber.

I grew up with two young trans people who are now in their 30s and thriving. A relative of my DH is trans and in her 60s (transitioned at 20), and there are young trans men in my family and trans women in my friendship group. They don’t think it’s a strange phase, and neither do we or our friends and family—it’s all pretty normal for us.

Being “gender critical,” as we’re now calling it, isn’t new; it’s just the same repackaged ignorance seen time and time again in times of progression, IMO. I believe it will die back considerably in the same way it did with homophobia as more people grow up with trans people in their lives.

That explains so much…

You’ve been conditioned to believe humans can change their sex. You’ve been exposed to beliefs and behaviours that have shaped your view. You don’t see nor understand reality.
It’s sad. 😔

seXX · 01/03/2025 07:42

According to this article https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-humber-58515769 from 2021, only women are sent reminders and hospitals/labs get confused by 'men' being referred. Maybe instead of adding pointless extra words to letters/leaflets to make certain people feel more included, the NHS should stop allowing people to change their sex markers on their medical records as they are important and should be factual.

Some people want their cake, eat it and still have someone else's cake!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 28/02/2025 20:38

Correction: you work with someone who is genetically female and has adopted the very recently coined label 'non-binary'. She may not identify as being female but it's not something you can identify out of. She will remain female to the end of her days and she will always need healthcare from people who know how the patient's sex affects the way their body works.

Chill out. I didn’t bloody label them 😆 I’m just saying how they identify themselves. Good luck telling someone who is non binary that they’re actually a she/her/woman/female. 🤪

AubernFable · 28/02/2025 22:41

Is that what I said, or does your reading comprehension need some work?

I don’t support anyone being butchered, I do on the other hand support adults making informed choices about their bodies. I support anyone’s decision to do what they need to feel comfortable in their own skin as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone else.

I’m also about to sleep not running for the hills or whatever pp said 😂

That's just it though..transgender ideology does hurt people. It's actually despicable.

CocoapuffPuff · 01/03/2025 07:37

Adding a few stupid words is fine by me. If an individual's intelligence is so low that they believe a few magic words changes their body, then a couple of additional words after "women" is an easy attempt to fix it. As long as it's added to "women" and not used to replace it.

if someone decides a few magic words changes their body so much that they no longer need health checks specific to the body they have, that actually hasn't changed - let them.

I used to be concerned. I no longer am. Let them take the consequences.

I consider myself an intersectional feminist, not a TERF, but very much a feminist.

It’s disrespectful to talk about people I care about in such a way regardless of your beliefs.

You bang on about people being disrespectful and then you use the word TERF in an attempt at a slur, you really are charming aren’t you?

I am proud to be a TERF if it means trying to protect young, vulnerable, people from the irreversible consequences of this insidious ideology, that you are so keen to cheerlead for. You’re no feminist, you’re a hand maiden.

AnSolas · 01/03/2025 06:44

AubernFable · 28/02/2025 22:45

I won’t answer disrespectful questions about my loved ones. If you’d like to rephrase i’d be happy to talk about it.

Male feminists who use female spaces as if they have a right to be there?

Or male feminists who recognise the importance of sex and single sex spaces?

Or please feel free to expand on their ideology around sex and the way society currently organises social interactions.

WillIEverBeOk · 01/03/2025 00:23

Just in relation to people who manipulatively suggest trans is Gay 2.0 and that they are anything alike:

Ereshkigalangcleg · 01/03/2025 00:21

Being gender critical won't die out any more than knowing the earth is a globe will die out, no matter how many flat earthers any of us meet.

Indeed. Simon Edge wrote a book about that!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 01/03/2025 00:19

The trans women I know are feminists

Do they acknowledge that they aren't female?

Anyone who isn't critical of anorexia, bulimia, breast enlargement, labioplasty, botox, and all the other harmful things that women do to their bodies "to feel comfortable in their own skin" is no feminist. Key to the feminist analysis of women's oppression as a sex class is the recognition that individual women do not make the decision to undergo risky cosmetic surgeries in a vacuum. Neither do we develop eating disorders in a vacuum.

Trans-identifying people do not start wanting cross-sex hormones and surgery in a vacuum. The same critical analysis of what drives these desires is not only appropriate, it is a moral obligation in a world where autistic women and girls want to cut their own healthy breasts off.

as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone else.

Turning yourself into a life-long medical patient consumes healthcare resources and these resources are limited. Transitioning has knock-on effects on healthcare services. You might also consider the effects of transitioning on spouses and children. These women are known as "trans widows" for a reason.

EnchantedForestNearTheRiver · 28/02/2025 23:12

but I would suggest getting out there and speaking to a transgender individual and actually listening to what they have to say. It might be enlightening to discover that they’re just normal people.

Why have you assumed people haven’t spoke to any trans people and they are therefore ignorant? I’ve spoke to many trans people and it’s because of what they say, what they tell me directly that has convinced me it’s a men’s right movement mixed with autogyphelia.

They came here in droves at one time, repeatedly asking what is a woman. I did speak to them, I listened to their misogyny and their bullying. I watched some of the women here fawn over them and thank them profusely for their ridiculous comments. I listened to them manipulate us and say that we don’t care about them and how they’re at risk of being sexually assaulted. Some of them foolishly used the same username for other sites, where their foul pictures confirmed that this was a sexual fetish.

Nobody seems to know these autogyphelia types or be related to them. People only know the harmless “ transwomen” who just wants to pee. Why is that?

Whats your thoughts about autogyphelia? Do you think these men should be accepted as women?

NextRinny · 28/02/2025 23:05

I won't have batted an eyelid at that wording if it didn't also enable males walking into female changing rooms.

WillIEverBeOk · 28/02/2025 23:03

LadyBracknellsHandbagg · 28/02/2025 22:23

They seem to have disappeared, I can’t think why?

Facts are kryptonite to them. They scurry away. It's pitiful really. Their Ideology never can stand up to scrutiny. And they know it. And they know that we know that they know it.
