Daily Echo: Hampshire woman appears in court charged with raping girl

In the mail article, strangely appears to have three legs in the accompanying picture.

The daily echo has now changed its headline to 'trans woman'. I imagine it had complaints - the original wasn't compliant with the first clause of the IPSO code relating to accuracy and not publishing misleading headlines.

It's not something for linguistic games nor thought experiments no matter who is doing it with what grim realisation, despair, or intent.

It does indeed say "if he penetrates' and "with his penis".

I can't think why a smart lawyer doesn't appeal a guilty verdict if the court uses "she" and "her penis" throughout.

That's not the wording of the law so how could the defendant have broken it?

No, the law says something like, Person A commits the offence of rape if he penetrates Person B with his penis and Person B does not consent and Person A does not reasonably believe that Person B consents.

It doesn't say that Person A has to be a man, although back in 2003 I don't think anyone believed in the womanly penis.

Is that the case? Or is it technically only rape can be carried out with a penis, and if a woman has a penis...

Is the law written in such a way that it doesn't explicitly say that only a male (as it could be a boy under 18) can rape and that if someone self-identifies as female it is possible that a female with a penis can rape?

Females don't have penises, I'm simply questioning the definition of the law.

And thinking further I don't think the law says that only males can rape, otherwise these men would be using the self-ID route to downgrade their rape charge to sexual assault.

The official court charge sheet identifies Wilson as a female. But the wording of the rape charge says that Wilson allegedly attacked the girl 'with your penis'.

Wait until his 13 year old latest (alleged, I guess we are obliged to say) victim has to testify for the court case.

When I saw the headline I thought "don't believe it".
Read on and thought "oh, so I was right not to believe it!".

Its almost as if they're blaming the penis, not the person it's attached to.
