Old Vic gender neutral toilets naffness

I can't remember is it cubicles/ urinals in one space or simply urinals.

If former use the fucking cubicle/ urinal space (it's what I do at the Barbican). Men won't understand all the fuss until it is THEIR space that is starting to feel usafe/ embarassing/ difficult.

Apparently I should think of the men who might be distressed by me potentially catching a glimpse of their tadger. Given that my employer has unlawfully legislated that all changing rooms/ toilets and wards (oh yes, it's a hospital) should be accessible based on gender fucking identity which means I share my changing space with men and said friend has been less than supportive about my discomfort over this then I've told him very clearly I don't care and will continue to use the toilet of my choice.

Was at the old vic tonight and a staff member ushered me towards the cubicles as I was standing there a bit puzzled.

when I came out a man asked me if they were gender neutral. I said they were cubicles and women were using them and he should think of the SC ruling.

I suppose some men won’t be able to use the urinals and so will have to go in the cubicles.

I assume women would win a claim of discrimination as provision is clearly less suitable for them than for men. But a court case would take forever and cost money.

Hopefully the EHRC will soon finalize their guidelines and start taking enforcement action which will make them sit up and take notice.

I think I will now, post the SC, be writing to them. Have taken a few days to think about it, but now feel it is ridiculous that there is no single sex provision for the women.

I think complaints are just the tip of the iceberg; these organisations just cannot believe women have had the gall to have it confirmed by the SC that they may to go to the loo without the supervision of men.

IANAL but it looks as if the Old Vic will be reverse ferreting shortly with their deiscriminatory attitude to women and single sex toilets. The article in this thread seems very clear:

Can you start by writing to ask them why they are discriminating against women in this way?

Firms are clearly not going to do anything unless they are dragged kicking and screaming to do so.

Went to the Old Vic this weekend and toilets are now: accessible, cubicles or urinals. Soooo men have a single sex space (urinals) and women don’t as there were men entering the cubicled room. I had no choice but to use the accessible toilet and be very quick.

I assume by "I havent been in 2 years", you mean the theatre, not...

the Kevin spacey patronage debacle had me on the fence (they 💯 knew about all his goings on with numerous young men in the various productions) but the “new” toilets tipped me over the edge.

If this is what inclusive / be kind bollocks translates to you can keep it… because it’s not kind to me and doesn’t feel inclusive to me either.

I haven’t been in over 2 years now and am no worse off for it…

1. I can't use a urinal

I hope the OP has complained and also that everyone who boycotts the Old Vic has also complained and told them why they won’t go there.

In fact, I was weighing up the two Oedipus productions that are going to be on and went for the one at Wyndham's Theatre because the other was going to be at The Old Vic.

A group of gender non conforming people should all approach to test the system. Are they scrying for genitalia to suggest appropriate facilities, or some inscrutable inner essence?

Or if the person directing makes an incorrect assumption about a persons ‘gender’ - the fact they need someone there directing people is an absolute shit show of an idea.

We rarely go to any theatre these days for two reasons to do with comfort. Ladies Loos; never enough capacity.
Seating, DH is just over 6ft, not a giant but the sitting space is so cramped. We realise that it is almost impossible to change the way the seats are stepped but someone needs to replace these old buildings.

We boycot that theatre because of the toilet situation. I can’t imagine what would have to be on to make us go there.

Wtf do they do when a gender non conforming person approaches? One could do some interesting research.
