Feminism means removal of gendered restraints. Removal of Societal limits on female lives.

Gender ideology thrives in a strongly gender restrictive society - the more the right make such a society the more gender ecspaing becomes needed .

And anyone who thinks that a climate change denier will help their family - anyone who has children in a world that is more likely be 4 degrees warmer in that child lifetime as a result of the trump vote ... sorry I don't understand that at all

I'm not American, but i imagine there were numerous reasons. The word 'feminist' as you are using it seems to imply that women's issues and perspectives must all be viewed through progressive/left wing lens - but they are not. Some women might actually think women's needs, and certainly women with children, are best met within a strong family network.

I imagine many women feel the economy and their family finances are the most important issue; and many will have been concerned not just with that but with ideological capture in schools around gender identity, around boys in girls sports and so on. I imagine many felt alienated by the progressive west coast liberalism espoused by Kamala Harris - even if she, and they, also believe in a woman's right to choose. Antifa, rioting in Portland, Defund the Police...stuff like that. illegal migration, of course...as is the same across Europe

Behind Trump is the Republican Party......and even should Trump stand back they will still represent those women on those sorts of issues. I see that the Republicans won back the senate - which means people were also voting for Republican candidates, as well as for Trump.

To guarantee abortion rights an amendment would need to be made to the constitution, to do this a bill would need to make it through both the senat and the house of Congress and I doubt that the Biden administration had the votes. However they didn't even try to win over republican reps because they (the Democrats) would need to use political capital to win them over for this 1 vote and it was deemed not worthy of such effort, especially when they can still use it as a threat against women to coerces their vote

Difference over here though is that most of the anti abortionists 1) are not anti in any circumstances 2) regard the abortion question as a matter of personal conscience.

Trump has his own "gender ideology" which is actually very similar to the trans ideology. Women should look and act a certain way. We exist to be pretty and stupid. That's why radical feminism exists, because of people like him, not because of trans people! He is the original enemy of women. Should we be grateful for your average misogynist just because he's also a transphobe? The reasons he's a transphobe are not intellectual or feminist. We don't have to support actual transphobes just because they acknowledge the biological differences between the sexes. We're not transphobes; we're feminists!

The thing to remember about abortion is there are millions of Americans, including millions of women, and billions around the world, who think abortion is a bad thing.

It'll make it worse I think, sure they might not get any laws, but it'll cause deeper divisions, louder voices, and (even more) self righteousness. I think it'll make liberal commentators in the UK more militant too, the fact Trump won't support trans rights just solidifies the belief trans rights are something to fight for.

@Hoardasurass do you know if is there an explanation as to why democrats haven't done anything to improve abortion rights this term? Are their hands tied with the Supreme Court being essentially republican atm? Or is it the age old too political to touch?

Trump is a terrible person but we had all this apocalyptic nonsense the last time he was elected.
