Imean, as far as a public leader, I would not want Musk to be kind of sole dictator. But I think I'd prefer him as an MP or in that kind of role - where there are other people working together - over a lot of people actually doing it. I think he'd at least ask good questions and have some ideas that were really different from the same old approaches.

A lot of wealthy business people and high status academics seem convinced that they are more capable of running the world properly and that the plebs having a vote is a waste of time.

Doing well in one sphere of life, particularly one in which success insulates you from dealing with everyday peoples' problems, will give you an inflated idea of your own ability and competence. Musk is no different to a lot of this type of people.

I don't get all the hate for him. I really like him.

I like how he's unafraid to tell powerful people to fuck off if he thinks they're behaving badly. I like that he wants to get us to mars. I like that he reinstated the accounts of people who have been silenced on Twitter, even the people I don't agree with. I don't agree with everything he says, but I don't completely agree with many people. It's ok to hold different ideas from others, it doesn't automatically make them twats.

I don't think Musk is stupid, but like most people he has a lot more smarts about some things than others.

As far as women speaking or thinking freely. I do think that women are overall more risk adverse than men - maybe significantly so. I think there are a lot of solid biological reasons for that.

I've wondered if it means women are somewhat less likely to pursue risky ideas, or socially unpopular ideas.

I like him. He is so unguarded- it’s an antidote to all the carefully staged personas people have in the social media age.

Love the trend for American "thinkers" at the moment to talk themselves into reinventing the monarchy. Like what was the whole point of the last 250 years? Do the Bri'ish get an apology?

I don't pay much attention to what Musk says, I respect what he's done: made free speech popular again, and angered those (politicians and certain activists come to mind) who have reason to keep people afraid to exercise it. It's a shame some have found themselves in a toxic algorithmic hell, but that's not my experience.

I'm not 'fundamentally at his mercy because' I have never engaged with Twitter or X because I could see what it was and where it was heading from the beginning.

Hate him all you like, we're fundamentally at his mercy and owe him something for changing the moderation principles on Twitter.

But its relevant, because the whole point of the post he found "interesting" is that people like him - neurodiverse "high status" males are better suited to making decisions than everyone else. If you are setting yourself and other men like you up as natural leaders, you open your character and leadership qualities (or lack thereof) for public discussion.

I hate how Elon Musk threads always move away from “I think Elon Musk is wrong” and into making judgments on his intelligence, personality, or other personal things about him. Yes, he’s very intelligent. He’s also autistic, hence the lack of nuance and lack of giving a damn about whether something is socially acceptable to say.

It's weird how he has gone on about Dune being a really good book, but a really big thing in that book referenced in every chapter, is the importance of self control and not just acting on blind, random impulses.

Maybe powerful people should have to do an alternative version of the Gom Jabber but instead of a box of pain they just have to sit in a room with nothing to interest them for a few hours without posting something idiotic on Twitter. I predict very few of the "high status" males would survive.

Did he basically just say 'interesting observation' and the meme/ the actual statement wasn't something he himself said or further commented on?

Is he publicly known to be using an illegal drug called ketamine, (and isn't that the one that can cause severe incontinence issues)? Do you not get in trouble with the law about being public with that (you clearly have connections with a drug supplier)?

Elon’s answer to the Thai cave situation was to call a rescuer a ‘pedo guy’ when the rescue team dismissed Elon’s prototype minisub, which was untested and too rigid to go through the tunnels.

Elon makes impulsive decisions and has no time for reflection. Evaluation and refinement brings better results long term.

I know of no better decision makers than mothers. They have to multitask, teach, nurture, sustain and protect their offspring by constant decision making.
