Yes that’s the basis by which I said it, I didn’t think it was particularly controversial to recognise that most of these trans children would have simply grown up to be lesbian or gay. I don't watch the show, but was under the impression he 'dated' boys.

Given his parents considered him a girl, because he was such a feminine boy and that being gay is a strong indication that these children will be identified as trans, I think it's a pretty educated guess that he would've grown up to be a gay man.

I remember reading about another girl who had her bowel perforated during the surgery. She had faeces leaking out of her incisions but her worries and physical agony was dismissed. She ended up with a colostomy bag for many years. I pray the young transman who posts in mumsnet changes her mind. She has already suffered more surgery and physical hardship in her 30 years of life than most could even imagine.

These risks need to be talked about with the young and often vulnerable people desperately seeking these treatments. It is terrible as well that gender clinics were so against providing information as advised in the Cass report. There is no accurate data on the long term outcomes of cross sex hormones.

The glamorisation of double breast mastectomies as 'gender affirmation' is hugely concerning.

I remember on a thread bringing this up to have a poster who can only be described as an extreme trans rights activist casually dismiss double mastectomies, and phaloplasties and the life long negative side effects of testosterone as 'it is acceptable risk for the benefits of gender affirming care' (my paraphrase). That the brutality of these treatments is considered 'meh, it is just acceptable risk' is very concerning indeed.

But I can only ever see it as misogyny because it has been mostly male people pushing this need for affirming treatments. They have leveraged young women and children to achieve the position where 'gender affirming care' is to be considered life saving and cannot be questioned or discussed.

Coming back to viques's point, it seems unbelievable that, given that maternity care as a rule is so obsessed with the health of the baby, with multiple antenatal checks, exhortations not to smoke, drink, eat soft cheese and so on, when it comes to testosterone apparently no one cares about what the impact on the baby might be.

Yes it's so noticeable. Everything must bow and give way to the sacred "truth" that is being trans – which cannot be tested for, proved or verified. If you're trans and pregnant, then you can do no wrong and your feelings matter more than the baby - yet if you're just a boring old woman having a baby, everything to do with protecting the baby's health in the womb is on you and you shouldn't be letting any harmful foods or medicines enter your body.

I don't understand how so many HCPs have ended up going along with this.
