I know he's been mentioned in previous threads but I can't find any.

He's still pursuing his appeal for unfair dismissal but the DBS are not taking any action against him which has to be helpful.

Absolutely. I’m disappointed by the churches, who should be defending children and young people from ideologies that lead to self-harm.

Dr Randall was sacked and referred to Prevent, the counter-terrorism programme, the Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) and the DBS.

The sheer ludicrous overkill. Because trying to protect children from physical and mental harm is like blowing people up? I know transactivists won’t ever get a grip, but what’s wrong with the authorities?

It is hard to grasp the scale of capture for sectors like justice, healthcare and education. The Voluntary sector. All the arms length bodies with which we interact. National and local governments and their elected and appointed officials and staff.

And then we consider media in all its forms.

It’s daunting.

Yet when Axel Rudabakana was found to have been repeatedly reported to Prevent before killing three little girls a lot of "progressive" types were all over the internet, including here, saying "don't be stupid, that's not what Prevent is forrrrr"

I can't say much, but I have some evidence that the C of E may be beginning to wake up to having been sold a very biased ideological pup. There is some recognition that the pressure to be kind has been one way only, and that some church members' perspectives have been ignored (deliberately in my opinion, because the driving ideology has been "progressive"). The damage to wives, children, parents, siblings is acknowledged by some church leaders, and possibly (I don't have any knowledge of this) the damage to trans identified people themselves. Obviously the people who have been pushing for the complete acceptance of trans identity thinking haven't given up, but other voices are beginning to be listened to.

He lost his job as the chaplain of Trent College in Nottingham, was reported to Prevent, a terrorism watchdog organisation, and was ruled by the Church of England to be a risk to children.

At times like this it seems that the professional classes and the so-called Great and the Good have lost all sense of proportionality.

Employment Judge Butler wrongly asserted several times that: “E&C is an Ofsted and DfE recognised best practice programme.”

This shows the importance of only relying on proven facts in the court system.
The school / CoE must have made this argument without any evidence?
It the school /CoE had looked at this claim imo management should have been in a position to question this as factual as Ofsted approval would be public information and understanding what any rating means is a core business need when managing schools.

Furthermore, Judge Butler said in her judgment, that: “[Dr Randall] takes an extreme view of E&C which bears no resemblance to the reality of its purpose and implementation, which was aimed simply at creating an inclusive environment for all. We saw and heard no evidence that came anywhere close to supporting [Dr Randall’s] view that E&C would indoctrinate pupils in such a way.”

The in church teaching was in line with CoE views and seeing how parents chose to send their children to a CoE ethos school teaching the right not to agree with any of the faith teachings including trans ideology is creating an inclusive environment for the children who dont want to believe in any of the LGBT elements as well as childern who do.
Problem the school has is to teach the individual child not to be a bullying little shit to other people (turn the other cheek) and that a democratic society is based on respecting that having an opinion and abusing someone because of that opinion are different

So unless there is a whole lot of damning evidence in the school files about his concerns imo someone (and a lot of someones) had a full blown meltdown and report traditional church ideology to anti-terroism.

And any organisation which has leaders who say or ever said adults having sex with children is ok should never be allowed on school grounds or be approved to be given access to children. The Churchs have enough of their own "rapie" members to deal with without letting others in too.

Just as an aside, the Stephen Ireland case is still being heard at Guildford Crown Court. It's into its third week now although I don't know if it's been on every day. The BBC reports seem to have dried up.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/03/2025 17:51

The descriptions of Educate and Celebrate in the Christian Concern link don't pull any punches:

"Educate and Celebrate child sex charges
Furthermore, Dr Randall has been vindicated over why he gave the sermon in the first place.
In 2018 Trent College invited Educate and Celebrate (E&C), an extreme gender identity group who promote Queer Theory, into the school where he was employed as chaplain.
Revelations and scandals about E&C, which was closed quietly by the Charity Commission in 2024, continue to highlight the deep injustice at the heart of Dr Randall’s case.
In August 2024, for example, a patron of E&C, Stephen Ireland, was charged with multiple accounts of sex abuse against childrenen*, including rape and conspiracy to kidnap.
E&C was also forced to remove another leading patron, transgender comic, Jordan Grey, for stripping naked on Channel Four and playing the piano with his genitalia.
Gray had suggested that he went into schools to “talk about gender” on behalf of E&C, adding that “toddlers kind of get it straight awayway*
.”^
In the ruling that has now been set aside, Employment Judge Butler wrongly asserted several times that: “E&C is an Ofsted and DfE recognised best practice programme.”
We now wait for a new date for this evidence to be considered by a newly constituted tribunal."

I have just been reading up on this case. Educate and celebrate who Dr Bernard raised concerns about and are now closed down had patrons including Stephen Ireland who is accused of 30 crimes including child rape and Peter tatchell who supports paedophilia. They got huge grants from the taxpayer. The original judge and a magistrate had to recuse themselves as had previously supported E&C. The church of england has still not given back Dr Bernard's licence but mean while Welby has resigned as he himself failed at safeguarding. I sometimes feel I'm in a parallel universe where right is now wrong.

StickItInTheFamilyAlbum · 07/03/2025 17:49

Blow me down again now I have fully recalled that Randall’s case involves the now defunct Educate and Celebrate. Several threads in February 2024 about this.

Jordan Gray was a patron. The currently going through court proceedings (but there are threads) Stephen Ireland was involved as well.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/03/2025 17:42

However, it may be on the obvious unfairness of the open anti-Christian bias of the tribunal panel member which truly egregious.

She's also been accused of the same in the newer case of a Nottingham teacher who refused to socially transition a child, she had to recuse herself.

Sorry meant to quote you @StickItInTheFamilyAlbum

Well, blow me down. Senior Circuit Judge Tayler is the EJ who initially rejected Maya Forstater’s first tribunal and went on to have that judgment overturned on appeal (usefully).

Exactly! Turn up for the books!

Six years!

This quote from the article reminded me of why Welby resigned

"Following his sacking, in 2022 he was blacklisted as a safeguarding risk to children by the CofE in Derby Diocese for his sermon.

Dr Randall pursued a serious complaint of misconduct over the decision to blacklist him, but this was blocked by the then Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby. (ABC) However, a senior Church legal officer for clergy discipline found that the Archbishop had ‘misunderstood the scope of his powers’, and was ‘plainly wrong’."

Sorry Mixie, for not responding.
Yes, I linked his sermon in my previous post.
I agree with you.
I think people often fail to look at source material to draw their own conclusions, which is why I posted it.

MixieMatchie · 16/08/2024 11:20

It's absolutely barking mad, isn't it? The church is persecuting him for defending the church's own teachings. You could not make it up. Nobody would believe it.

lcakethereforeIam · 16/08/2024 10:43

Rev Randall has written an article in the Critic, it gives his side of the more recent shenanigans

https://thecritic.co.uk/when-will-bishops-be-held-to-account/

The CoE hierarchy really do not like explaining themselves. It's not just god who moves in mysterious ways.

The title of this thread, although correct at the time, hasn't aged well.

When will bishops be held to account? | Rev. Dr Bernard Randall | The Critic Magazine

I have been the victim of religious discrimination within the Church of England. Because of a sermon delivered in 2019, I am being treated as a safeguarding risk. I don’t know why…

lcakethereforeIam · 16/08/2024 09:36

Thanks @MixieMatchie I've just noticed the test of his sermon was linked upthread (by Dame Maud with the YouTube link which, I think, is why I overlooked it). He sets his reasoning out very clearly, both secular and Christian reasoning for not agreeing. I don't know if Welby or any of the other CoE bigwig have bothered to explain why their faith is bending the knee to this shiney new religion. Come to think of it I don't believe there have been any rational, coherent, testable explanations from the scientists (so called) as to why gender identity is a thing and biological sex isn't. Clown fish don't cut it.

MixieMatchie · 16/08/2024 07:25

Thanks for replying, @IcakethereforeIam . I just found the full text of the sermon on a website called Christian Concern - not sure if I am allowed to post a link, but if you basically Google it, it will come up - the article is called "A school sermon by Bernard Randall - Competing Ideologies". I'm not sure where the "good and wholesome" quote came from, as it's not in the actual sermon, but yes, I think it's clear he thinks the traditional C of E positions have much to recommend them, while not pushing others to believe them. I think the sermon is a really nice example of how to explain and advocate for one's faith even when the topic is controversial.

lcakethereforeIam · 16/08/2024 00:05

It's been that long since I started this thread tbh I'd forgotten what my reservations were. So I had a look at the original article

Yet at the same time he points out that his Church’s “good and wholesome” teaching does not permit gay marriage, or allow those in sexual relationships with others of the same sex to be priests.

I don't actually have a problem with him or the church following those rulings. I don't support them though. I have no disagreement, from a quick reread, with the rest of what he said. I may have overlooked something.

MixieMatchie · 15/08/2024 23:37

Those of you who have reservations about the Rev, do you mind explaining why? My understanding of this case is that some pupils had come to him and asked "Do we actually have to believe this stuff we're being told in PSE?", a reasonable question for a teenager at a C of E school also being presented with contradictory beliefs under the same roof. He therefore gave this sermon saying that nobody had to believe anything, be it gender ideology, religion, or anything else. He simply spoke in defence of freedom of conscience. Is that your understanding too?
