Influential people who have children who are trans

I have been wondering why some prominent individuals have taken the positions they have. Would it be useful to compile a list of those in positions of power or influence i.e. politicians, journalists etc. who are themselves influenced or constrained by their children or other family members' gender identity when they comment on issues with bearing on women's rights?

I don't see how this list is relevant or helpful, in fact I find it slightly sinister.

I think it would be helpful if politicians state where they stand on this issue, especially with an election coming up. Whether or not they have family or friends who are trans is irrelevant.

I’m pretty sure it is important to understand the background that influences the decisions made by politicians regarding gender ideology and the laws that are ‘ushered’ in quietly, often piggybacking on other, unrelated issues…

After all, in Queensland, that’s why we have Gender Identity as a protected characteristic, and guidance to allow any self identified trans child to use opposite sex facilities under threat of anti-discrimination commission prosecution for objectors. Also that parents face being ‘educated’ if they object to social transition of their own children, or if they express concern at a teenage (eg) male self-identifying into their daughter’s toilets, changerooms or accommodation (that’s if they find out there is a trans-identifying child in the first place, as no-one, including the child’s own parents, need to be informed by the school).

I get what you’re saying @Floisme but it’s people that make policy so it’s hard to divorce the motivation from
the people. If the permanent Secretary at the Dept of Education actively pushed through loads of stonewall ‘let’s get head of the law’ policies because he had a trans child then I don’t think it’s wrong to ask questions.

as for lists lol yeah - wasn’t it Labour who came up with the infamous bad women list that Wes Streeting was part of? What was TERF blocker if not a list?

I think we need to go for the ball , not the player, or the player's family.

Anyway I'll leave you to it.

Good lord they’re everywhere these transgender people! They’re even in people’s families and everything. How dare they.

People with disabled, black, religious, or gay relatives must be equally biased.

Pretty sure no one identifies into being disabled, black or gay.

What am I saying - actually they do - Rachel Dolezol, that loon in Scandinavia somewhere who identifies as both a woman and disabled despite being an able bodies man 😂

@BombasticSideEye

No. You mis-red my comment. I clearly said: No one talked to any of these children about emotions? The blame is on the parents for not helping a child understand that their gay emotions are totally minor.

I didn't misread anything. You didn't write your comment clearly enough.

Aphrathestorm · 15/04/2023 09:44

Tori Spellings' eldest Liam
Naomi Watts DC Kai
Busy Phillips DC Birdie
Sting's DC is apparently gender fluid
Marcia Gay Harden's DC Hudson
Emma Bunton's Youngest Tate
Megan Fox's DC Noah

Statistically it's way too many to be a Coincidence.

Then focus on the policies, not the people making them and their loved ones.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 15/04/2023 09:17

The political influences certainly need to be discussed, especially when policy is going to be based on a politician's relative or favourite constituent rather than the population as a whole. And no amount of scolding or attempted shaming should divert us from that.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 15/04/2023 09:16

I get that this is an uncomfortable topic. Sadly the impact of self invested adults - including those who are parents of vulnerable children - are having an impact on society. As these issues have until recently, been enforced via no debate edicts, it's only now that we're allowed, in a democratic society, to ask who is exerting such influence and why.
The example I gave above of the senior civil servant at the DfE is well evidenced and he spoke openly about his interest in Stonewall. It's legitimate to query why his views were allowed to influence our children's education to such an extent.

@BombasticSideEye
Neglectful of all involved, particularly the parents who clearly didn't talk to her about emotions. If they had then they'd have realised she was only gay, and thus wasn't an issue, but because it wasn't discussed it then went on to be the bigger issue of transitioning. Which was Uni necessary. So yes, ti not discuss these basic emotions, which are nothing major, does seem silly.

Then your comment should have been directed at the parent, not at the quote made by the child. It read as her thought process being stupid.

Sux2buthen · 15/04/2023 09:13

Have you all considered just...living your lives?
Getting outside maybe, or having a laugh with a friend?
Perhaps something to think about

Hey does anyone know if making lists of members of an oppressed minority has ever ended badly before?

Jonathan Slater, ex-perm under section for Education has a trans child and was himself a champion of Stonewall. It explains a lot.

He got a special award from Stonewall for introducing mixed sex toilets in the DfE. He presided over a time when adult trans activist groups were given unimaginable amounts of money and free access to schools via the DfE. The same adult groups got free publicity & were recommended to schools via statutory guidance (eg the Equality Act guidance).
And we wonder why some schools are merrily socially transitioning children, removing parental rights and running safeguarding breaching LGBT groups? It's because the DfE sold them the lie that children can change sex and that adults with a fetish have an important place in children's education.

BloodyHellKen · 15/04/2023 09:09

I can't believe you're genuinely likening Tras to what happened to Jews during the holocaust.

BloodyHellKen · 15/04/2023 09:07

an oppressed minority 😂

HagoftheNorth · 15/04/2023 08:18

Interesting how many there are. I wonder if creative media parents are more likely to have a trans child than, say, scientists or elite athletes

I think so yes. In a similar way, but different my oldest (scientist) told me at college all the trans/non binary TWAW people are 99% arts/humanities students. Most science students like him just nod and smile but think it's all nonsense - especially the male ones.

Now he's at uni its a similar split.

And by trans I mean TRAs not people with gender dysphoria - i.e. a psychiatric condition that should be treated with empathy.

BombasticSideEye · 15/04/2023 09:01

Oblomov23 · 15/04/2023 08:31

R Kelly child, who announced trans, then de-trans, says:

When I was younger, I always felt like I had to make a choice. I knew that I was a girl who liked other girls. But because of what I was taught, I felt like the only way you could like another girl is if you were a boy.”

I mean, I'm sorry but that is just really stupid. No one talked to any of these children about emotions? And that it was ok? Beggars belief.

Pretty nasty to refer to the experience of a 14 year old trying to get to grips with their sexuality as "stupid".

Sux2buthen · 15/04/2023 08:57

Yeah it's more of a hit list, pitchfork kind of vibe.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 15/04/2023 08:55

Hey eyeball thanks, that I do understand. Something about it feels different to the other discussions on this topic though.
Appreciate your reply though.
