80 year old woman banned from pool for standing up for little girls

This poor woman dedicated her life to defending women and girls. She heard a male voice while in the shower at her local pool, looked out and saw a TW changing near 4 or 5 little girls while staring at them. She stepped in, asked if the TW had a penis, and got banned and the pool staff threatened to call police on her. They lied and said she said all kinds of profane things. This is so disgusting. I feel so bad for her.

Paedophile excusers. Lol. OK.

Even if this one particular TW is not a paedophile, the ideology that you are defending in general has the potential to allow men of ANY description into the spaces reserved for women and girls.
How do we tell the difference between the "bad" men and the "good" ones?
We can't.
Therefore, it is safest to simply keep ALL men out of these spaces.

There is no way for "policy makers" as you put it, to discern who has an "innocent" reason for being in a women's safe space.

Why is it appropriate for ANY male to be in there? Because he "feels" like a female? What does that mean?
Most importantly of all, why should his "right" to be there trump the safety of the girls and women using that space?

Allowing males into these spaces increases the risk that a paedophile WILL be able to enter unchallenged on the basis that this ideology makes it acceptable for them to be there, and those challenging males in women's spaces are deemed bigots and transphobes.

CrossStichQueen · 05/08/2022 09:50

I wish I had Didimums skill/gift of being able to tell which male who is in the presence of little girls undressing is a good none pervert male and who isn't!

abcdeg · 05/08/2022 09:50

People are really falling over tensions to defend this. Can you not admit a trans person was in the wrong for once, will you gross mushrooms from your head?

Helleofabore · 05/08/2022 09:49

So, she should have waited then? While the male continued to watch the girls?

This is a woman who has dealt with abused women and children for decades. She helped set up the first shelters in the area after using her home.

Do you think her interpretation of the harm being done here was wrong?

And that she should have allowed it to continue until she was dressed and left the girls to speak to management?

When you consider the situation, do you really think that is the appropriate action? Or should a woman in that position (shocked and reacting on instinct) no longer react to try to remove the potential harm they see in front of them?

Should we all now wait and calmly speak to management after the event?

So no answers to this post?

None at all it seems.

JellySaurus · 05/08/2022 09:47

Once again, it was one woman’s perception of what was happening.

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. It doesn't become less of a concern because only one woman stepped up to do something about it. Women fear men's aggression when men are challenged.

Flag it with the pool or report it to authorities.

Whose response is to support the male's right to watch little girls getting naked and to punish the woman for safeguarding them.

Don’t ask the person what their genitalia is.

Perhaps she should have been somewhat more forthright. sSomething along the lines of "Take yourself and your penis out of this female changing room and away from little girls."

No, she put two and two together and got a big fat fucking FOUR.
In what world is it ever okay for a MAN to be in the female changing room watching young girls? And you're actually defending this?

yes. They are. They are defending this.

BigDayToday · 05/08/2022 09:43

BigDayToday · 05/08/2022 09:40

How can they decide this? If they allow TW then how can they exclude men?

In practice, this policy allows in women, girls, TW, and any men who decide they want to be in the women's changing room, for reasons of their own. There is no way to exclude the last group.

ilovesushi · 05/08/2022 09:41

Julie Jaman is an absolute hero! She stood up for young girls placed in a vulnerable position, was verbally abused by the pool staff but didn't let it lie and brought it to the attention of the whole community. But in this contorted world we are living in, despite Julie's best efforts, girls at the pool still cannot change safely and as mentioned in the article some will stop swimming because of it.

Didimum · 05/08/2022 09:35

That’s for the establishment’s policy makers to decide.

You’ve taken a pretty massive leap to say that a trans woman using the same facilities as born females must be a peodophile based on the say so of one lady. I’d rather share facilities with a trans woman than a bigot.

Paedophile excusers. Lol. OK.

Didimum · 05/08/2022 09:35

BigDayToday · 05/08/2022 09:31

What about a man? Not a TW like the one in this story but just a man who wants to be there? Is that ok? And if not, how can we tell the difference?

That’s for the establishment’s policy makers to decide.

I think it’s OK for a TW to use a women’s space if the establishment allows it and the TW behaved appropriately, along with all the other patrons. Go ahead and hurl abuse at me. Whatever.

So you think a male watching little girls getting undressed has behaved appropriately.

Once again, it was one woman’s perception of what was happening. Flag it with the pool or report it to authorities. Don’t ask the person what their genitalia is.

I was once shopping with a friend who was stopped for suspected shoplifted (she wasn’t) because she ‘looked like she was on benefits’. My husband was once out with his Pakistani friend who was stopped for a search because he ‘looked shifty’. And then the police let him go without search when they realised he was with a white person.

Bias in action. If you have concerns, report them appropriately.

FOJN · 05/08/2022 09:31

Go ahead and hurl abuse at me.

I have my bingo card out and I'm confused. Is this a variation of the dishonest, "both sides as bad as each other", or do I need to add something new which reflects a complete inversion of the truth; that would be consistent with the ideology generally. I remain open to the possibility that this is retro TRA where words are "literal violence", it's a bit 2018 but I don't mind a trip down memory lane.

EsmaCannonball · 05/08/2022 09:27

Trans ideology is basically enforced pretendiness. Women are being forced to pretend that we don't have experience-gained knowledge of the worst of male behaviour. It's like expecting a gazelle not to have a look when it hears a rustle in the grass because it's probably a zebra and not a lion (and then calling it a claw-obsessed bigoted weirdo when it does).

BoredofthisCrap7 · 05/08/2022 09:26

"“I would just like to state that this individual is not a man identifying as a woman, this individual is a woman.” Rebecca Horasct of Sequim, Washington said, “It is inappropriate in this day and age for people to not recognize what transgender means.”

Bullshit.
Are we denying science now too? Trans means that they "identify" as the other sex surely? Not that they LITERALLY ARE the opposite sex (otherwise they wouldn't be "trans" would they? HE literally is a man identifying as a woman.

""Hawkins added that her solution to females who felt uncomfortable changing around males were to use bathroom stalls, which are located in the same gender-neutral area. She also suggested closing the shower curtain was an appropriate solution for privacy and safety.""

Ah, great. Just close the damn CURTAIN ladies! We all know that SHOWER CURTAINS are rape proof shields that no man can possibly enter. And there's literally no way of opening them against your will.

Problem solved.

Reductio ad absurdam.

At this point, they're supposed to abandon their original premise, but no, they just hold on more tightly.

It's an appalling story and Clementine and the pool both behaved shockingly. Those trumped-up claims about what Julie Jaman is supposed to have said to Clementine Shock

From that article Jaman is a massively impressive, articulate and thoughtful individual, isn't she?

Asking a stranger about their genitalia will get you banned from most respectable establishments.

If she was worried the woman was watching the children get changed, she should have challenged that, and told the staff.

It wasn't a woman.

FrancescaContini · 05/08/2022 09:04

“Ah, Julie. What a naughty woman you are for not asking the nice man politely and for not choosing your words more carefully. I don’t care if you were more concerned about getting him to stop staring at little girls who were getting changed - you were very wrong not to have considered his feelings first and foremost when addressing him. Shame on you, Julie.”

I think this is what @JenniferBarkley would say to our heroine of the day if not week: Julie.

But she did inform a staff member and was told that challenging a male watching girls get changed was discriminatory.

Sounds like a peadophile’s dream venue
