80 year old woman banned from pool for standing up for little girls

This poor woman dedicated her life to defending women and girls. She heard a male voice while in the shower at her local pool, looked out and saw a TW changing near 4 or 5 little girls while staring at them. She stepped in, asked if the TW had a penis, and got banned and the pool staff threatened to call police on her. They lied and said she said all kinds of profane things. This is so disgusting. I feel so bad for her.

Oh. And just how much more egregious the actions of the woman reporting were vs the male and organisation involved.

Helleofabore · 05/08/2022 13:14

I am seeing a replay of the threads we had with the WiSpa incident here.

Only the one time.
It is just one woman’s account of what happened.
How dare anyone say this male should not be in the changing room when a group of young girls are getting changed.
There is a ‘right’ way to complain and anything other is wrong and not worthy of consideration.
The inability to show how the process suggested works in a real life incident.

It is like deja vu.

Helleofabore · 05/08/2022 12:43

Oh. Thanks.

I can change my top with my back to people and not expose my breasts. A man or TW can change their underwear or shorts etc without exposing their penis – and the 'exposure' part here is important to clarify whether it is deliberate exposure to cause distress and harm or simply getting changed. If the facility allows non-surgically altered TW into the space, then that's to bring up to the facility. Regardless, on that thread mentioned, I said the TW in question should have used the private cubicle as they were directed to do under the given policy.

There will be parents who were all be kind when they realized Clementine was working with little girls at the pool. Now they know Clementine is watching their little girls get naked, I expect they'll feel differently. Just like with the Wii Spa and college woman's swimming. People who thought there was no harm and it didn't affect them anyway. Once they see that be kind can affect them they'll start on their way to a higher elevation.

Didimum · 05/08/2022 13:10

The TW was not naked or exposing their penis.

So?

A fully clothed male should still not be there.

Why are people so keen to allow males to be around little girls getting changed. Why do males need this "right"

If someone has their dick out in front of me I have the right to ask them about it. It being impolite to talk about peoples genitals only applies when their genitals aren't in my face

The TW was not naked or exposing their penis.

We know as fact that there was an adult male present (I believe stood next to them) in the female changing room while several young girls were undressing. What other facts does there need to be to make that ok in your view?

There are always going to be isolated incidents like this that (if 100% true) are going to be unsettling to most people, including those in the trans community. I do think it is important to remember that they are isolated and not to allow ourselves to get whipped up by the political agenda against this community that is being peddled at the moment. There have always been TW and TM and such issues have always raised difficult situations but the discrimination and violence they suffer as a community is very real. I saw a TW in my local town shopping centre being extremely unsure of which bathrooms to go into as the disabled/baby change ones were locked and I really felt for her as she may have come up against anti trans sentiments in the ladies and yet the mens would likely feel so intimidating. In the end she didn’t use either bathroom. Please let’s remember that 99.9% of TW and TM just want to live their lives and not be the focus of endless attention and often hate which seems to becoming more and more prevalent on this forum and elsewhere x

Agree with this.

Also the article is only giving the story of one person and it seems most people are preferring to read her version of events. To get a true picture it would need the report of all people involved including the mother of the small children and any bystanders. It’s not good reporting.

SweetSenorita · 05/08/2022 12:47

There seem to be two separate themes running here.

  1. The transwoman is male and should not be in the female changing facilities
  2. Nobody, of any sex, should be watching young girls get changed. However, the likelihood of this happening is greatly increased by the presence of male people in the female changing facilities.
So, if 1. hadn't happened, it's unlikely that there would have been any issue with 2. Women (those adult human female types) are not statistically associated with voyeurism, sexual assaults and the like.
balalake · 05/08/2022 12:47

I bet the staff would not have banned a 20 year old or 30 year old woman, not that it would have been right if they had.

JenniferBarkley · 05/08/2022 07:34

The question isn't "do you have a penis" or "are you a woman". The question was "why are you staring at those girls?", followed by a report to staff regardless of the answer. Assuming the woman's assertion was true and she didn't just hear a deep voice and put two and two together and get twenty.

I wouldn't expect any clarity from people who, on another recent thread, tried to argue that "naked from the waist down" didn't necessarily mean that the person had their penis exposed.

That's the kind of reasoning we are dealing with here.

Oh. Thanks.

LunaLights · 05/08/2022 12:40

Some of the posters on this thread make me physically ill.
How many girls and women have to be sacrificed because some people insist that gender ideology trumps biology?
It is not a safe world for females any longer….

I couldn't give a flying fuck if he was in there in thermal long johns, woolly jumper, tweed overcoat and gloves.

His state of dress (or lack thereof) is not the only issue.
His PRESENCE is the issue.

His SEX is the issue.

His PENIS is the issue.

I'm not even sure his penis is so much the issue for me. His sex is. The stats fluctuate but I think last time I checked 96% of sex offenders were male (by which I mean XY chromosomes). The chances of any of those girls even being looked at in a sexually predatory way by women is very low. Their chances of being assaulted or even feeling uncomfortable being seen naked by other women is extremely low. The minute a male-sexed person enters that space, it rockets. Which is why we separate changing rooms by sex.

Helleofabore · 05/08/2022 12:38

Didimum

No worries. As I said as long as it is clear for all those on the thread and reading.

Didimum · 05/08/2022 12:37

@HooverIsAlwaysBroken

it seems that you are ok with a penis person to watch little girls change as long as the little girls cannot see the exposed penis of the penis person?

The pertinent claim in your question is 'to watch little girls' not whether the person has a penis that can be seen or not. Yet again, the claim of 'watching' was made by one person, which, in my view, should have been reported correctly (you do not have to share that view) to be investigated properly. You've then got three issues – whether the pool allows people to 'watch people get unchanged', whether they allow TW into their women's changing spaces and whether they deal with reported unconcerns appropriately.

HooverIsAlwaysBroken · 05/08/2022 12:36

Come on @Helleofabore , let’s explore different views here. We can talk about safeguarding later. I don’t want anyone to feel uncomfortable on this board. Everyone welcome and let’s figure this out.

I am very interested in what @Didimum considers to be acceptable for penis people (see how inclusive I am, no gender assumed at all, a bit like cervix havers). I am trying to figure out if it is ok if penis people just watch little girls change as long as they are dressed themselves. That is what I believe I am getting but trying to confirm.

it could also be that it is ok as long as the little girls aren’t too close to an exposed penis?

or distance to exposed penis doesn’t matter as long as it is a female penis?

SweetSenorita · 05/08/2022 12:36

Iamclearlyamug · 05/08/2022 08:32

@JenniferBarkley but it wasn't a woman was it? It was, in fact, a MAN WATCHING LITTLE GIRLS GET CHANGED!

On what planet is that ok?!

On this planet, sadly. Fucking shit, isn't it? 😡

SweetSenorita · 05/08/2022 12:31

JenniferBarkley · 05/08/2022 06:38

Asking a stranger about their genitalia will get you banned from most respectable establishments.

If she was worried the woman was watching the children get changed, she should have challenged that, and told the staff.

Sorry, have I missed something? Was there a woman watching children? All I can glean from the information provided is that there was a man watching the children!

And for the record, I don't give a shit about his penis status. If he wasn't born a woman (girl: but woman trips off the tongue better), he's a man!

Pluvia · 05/08/2022 12:31

Didimum · 05/08/2022 12:17

It was an example of safeguarding protocol from an established authority. I'm not here to discuss your individual NSPCC grievances.

No, we know you're not here to discuss anything, just to point and shout. School holidays, eh?

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 05/08/2022 12:31

So – again – not naked then. I was merely pointing out that you made an error in your description. It is appropriate to be dressed in a bathing suit in a swimming pool. I understand the followup debate of 'male in a female changing space' – but if that's the pool's policy, then that's to take up with the pool.

///

Yes I took your correction on board the first time. Thanks for pointing it out a second time.

As a poster who isn't passing any judgement on the actions of the lovely TW in the story and so desperate to remain apparently neutral I'm hearted that you notice and point out the missteps of women as swiftly as you do.

Didimum · 05/08/2022 12:31

Helleofabore · 05/08/2022 12:27

So you are not going to clarify and explain why you think the process still works for strong safeguarding here?

That is fine. And I think it is important for readers to see where your argument is weak.

And they are weak if you will not be clear in how this process you have stated is the strongest safeguarding option to follow in this incident, actually protects the girls in that moment.

It shows a massive gap that you are either not willing or not able to discuss.

Nope. Not here to discuss that. Have a pleasant day. I don't really care if you think an argument is 'weak' or not.

Merlo · 05/08/2022 12:29
