I've not seen a thread on Amy on MN and the search didn't show up anything. She seems to be being put through the wringer by tras and by her nursing college.

I thought if she saw this thread it might be cheering Flowers, she's on twitter. I found her thanks to Bette.

That fits in with my concern. This case is being heard at a very modest level but the issues in play are effectively political and at a much higher level. Does the panel have the capabilities to operate at that higher level, and more importantly, will they have confidence and the authority to do so? Or will they play it safe?

ILikeDungs · 18/03/2024 23:56

I cannot claim to have been following this carefully, but l have been interested in the case because it is Canada. The panel members will be constrained whatever their deep held convictions, by the prevailing miasma. Canada is very TWAW in the media (not so much the public, but many are taken in).

And then there is Bill C-16:

If someone refused to use a preferred pronoun — and it was determined to constitute discrimination or harassment — could that potentially result in jail time?

It is possible through a process that would start with a complaint and progress to a proceeding before a human rights tribunal. If the tribunal rules that harassment or discrimination took place, there would typically be an order for monetary and non-monetary remedies. A non-monetary remedy may include sensitivity training, issuing an apology, or even a publication ban, he says.

If the person refused to comply with the tribunal's order, this would result in a contempt proceeding being sent to the Divisional or Federal Court, Brown says. The court could then potentially send a person to jail “until they purge the contempt,” he says.

I am not suggesting Amy's case is a pronoun case, just that way back in 2017 the above was enacted with all involved patting each others backs and feeling very virtuous indeed. BARBARA FINDLEY continues this mindless struggle for trans rights in the face of reason and facts. To me the panel can see through this but to what extent are they captured or threatened by the ideology? Canada is utterly destroyed by GI, just so very destroyed. I despair.

"Until they purge the contempt." Sends shivers.

Here's a question to those who've been following this carefully. To what extent are the panel members capable of writing a judgment at the level of sophistication we've seen in cases like Forstater etc?

chilling19 · 18/03/2024 23:31

That was PAINFUL.

fallfallfall · 18/03/2024 23:30

painful to listen to bf.

nauticant · 18/03/2024 23:29

Back at 10am. Because they weren't able to complete bf's submissions and responses to questions, she'll resume then.

ILikeDungs · 18/03/2024 23:29

resumes 10 a.m. tomorrow

nauticant · 18/03/2024 23:26

Yes. It's the core of her argument.

Snowypeaks · 18/03/2024 23:25

I'm not watching or following on TwiX, hence the questions..
Did bf say that AH must not push back against gender ideology, ie warn her against gender blasphemy?

ILikeDungs · 18/03/2024 23:24

Race again. Where is my bingo card

Water fountains??

(Such a thing exists in Canada, not so much UK)

chilling19 · 18/03/2024 23:23

Race argument again.

nauticant · 18/03/2024 23:22

bf's position is that any criticism of the ideology in any sense erases the existence of trans people. That's it.

Signalbox · 18/03/2024 23:21

ILikeDungs · 18/03/2024 23:21

"could you repeat the question?"

Really struggling with that one.

Signalbox · 18/03/2024 23:21

Snowypeaks · 18/03/2024 23:18

I see he wrote BARBARA FINDLEY in all caps. Literal violence! 🤣

Ha ha yes it should have been bARBARA fINDLAY

ILikeDungs · 18/03/2024 23:21

"could you repeat the question?"

Snowypeaks · 18/03/2024 23:21

Why can't she advocate for women and girls, though? Barbara Findley advocates for trans people. Is she basically saying it's transphobic to split - similar idea to No LGB without the T?

nauticant · 18/03/2024 23:20

Panel asked bf whether she distinguishes between trans activists and the ideology and trans persons.

bf would only go as far as if a trans activist is cis-gendered then what AH says doesn't matter so long as there is no push-back against the ideology.

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 18/03/2024 23:20

"Erasure is the MOST profound loss of human dignity".

Yeah more profound than say rape or FGM or forced marriage, or being recorded naked in a changing room without your consent or being locked in a cell with a man and forced to toilet/shower etc in front of them, or being disabled/ill and forced to accept intimate care from a man in a dress......

Yep, being told that you aren't accepted as a woman universally, just because you say you are, is SOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH MORE PROFOUND A LOSS OF HUMAN DIGNITY!!

FOR. FUCKS. SAKE.

Trans people/ trans activists distinction. Very good

Signalbox · 18/03/2024 23:18

There's some reasonably decent questions being asked by the panel.

Signalbox · 18/03/2024 23:17

Omg bf is really going for it now. Submitting that every time AH advocates for women and girls she is erasing TW because she is only advocating for "cis" women and girls.

chilling19 · 18/03/2024 23:16

Erasure is the most profound kind of discrimination.

Yes bf - it is as we adult human females know very well.
