What I like about this gesture is that it is obviously instinctive, and maybe not well thought-through - I mean, there are so many things wrong with the very idea of a $5,000 handbag, and that $5,000 could be put to better use, and is Amy going to be able to parade around with a $5,000 Gucci handbag?

I can imagine the online conniptions from the JKR haters around all that...

But a brave woman says she wants one, and a generous and brave and extremely rich one says 'Here, you've earned it'.

Goodness its not just Amy, look at the dates they conducted these hearings on and no decisions yet. The first one at least was heard on consecutive days but in 2022 and no decision yet

I cannot understand this process, hearings spaced months apart and then no verdict for ages. This is one of the worst legal processes I've ever heard of. I don't know how they expect a fair adjudication to come from this.

The stress of the spread out hearings and then no judgment for ages, must be torture

The wait is punishment and a very sad reflection on the college.
I hope she can at some point sue them for this mistreatment.
Meanwhile in Canada NO ONE has stepped forward to “re educate” Jordan P.
The governing bodies are captured and yet it seems most professionals have not figured out how to explain away biology.

What’s been happening to Amy over the last number of years is the absolute definition of the process is the punishment.

I’m in awe of Amy’s refusal to give up/give in after all that’s been done to her.

ah legal team suggested that the drawn out case could be considered harassment i wonder if she would be able to sue (i hope so, hitting the college in the pocket book might help them realize that a majority of their members are women).

@fromorbit that statement is equally heartbreaking and frightening. Orwellian is not an inappropriate characterisation of the BCCNM’s approach to Amy’s social media posts. Doesn’t give any reassurance for what will happen post the Online Safety bill passing into law. Just another means to control women and punish them for speaking up.

November 16, 2020: I got a letter saying that I was under investigation by @BCnursemidwife for my role in putting up an "I <3 JK Rowling" billboard.

I had recently become a single mom to a baby and a toddler. I felt my life was in pieces, personally and financially, and this letter nearly sent me over the edge.

So much happened between 2020 and now. I refused to keep the investigation confidential. I refused to accept a suspension or to publicly say I had been transphobic (because I am not). I was accused of spreading "medical misinformation" but then that charge was dropped, with zero explanation or apology (I demanded one but this demand went ignored).

The BCCNM fought like hell to prevent me from having a single witness to testify in my defence. They didn't want the public to know that they were persecuting me, and they also didn't want me to even be able to defend myself. They spent days and days of the hearing attempting to disqualify every single witness I brought forth. It was as astounding as it was terrifying.

I've received countless threats and have had plenty more anonymous, cowardly complainants try to have me fired for standing up for women and children. It continues to this day. There are battles that haven't been made public yet. (Yet!) I'm not the same person I was in 2020. (Just try me.)

I've been through more than 20 days of trial, which finally ended today, March 19, 2024. Now I wait for a verdict and hope for justice.

This process was hell. I did my best to endure itI haven't remained calm throughoutin the hopes that something good would come at the end. I also endured it because the truth matters. Free speech matters. Women and children matter.

I was overwhelmed with relief when @JCCFCanada told me they were taking on my case. They are the reason I was able to fight. I am overwhelmed with gratitude for @LDBildy and Karen Bastow. Lisa's closing remarks today were a wake-up call for Canada. They were perfect. (Lisa, please be my lawyer forever.)

@nauticant i can't say that ah's counsel was good interesting or even well presented BUT it did raise some valid questions which clearly caught the chair's attention.
the chair at the end asked two very important questions 1) was the content political 2) where did ah claim she was a nurse or nurse educator. the lawyers for the college seemed to dither on the political speech but conceded that in neither of the two area's of interest did ah claim she was a nurse or nurse educator.

Just as I get home. So, I get hours of braindeath by bf and I miss all of AH's counsel. Bah.

Given the Canadian clusterfuck in this area, I can't call the outcome. It may be they say that Amy shouldn't have stated she was a nurse, but she has the right to her personal opinions absent this? So she should have been admonished on this basis - I.e. not to do this again, but no way should this have resulted in a witch hunt.

It's nearly over. Main submissions have been made on both sides. College has had their right to reply and is now being questioned by panel. Presumably Bildy will have the same opportunity to reply.
