Please sign into CSP and look at the new iCSP discussion "Stonewall and the CSP"

A great thread beginning and agreement that stonewall are problematic and women's rights are being overlapped by male rights

Then a HUGE ESSAY by a TRA

Sad

I should have included professional organisations in this as well.

I see someone has given a thumbs down on our thread, but not commented. And Millar has commented on the other “we exist!”
one - wirh a link to Lime Soda films which looks like an excellnt choice for retiring to “I’m a feminist” nob head.

did he actually say “but, what about the lesbians in your changing rooms” in a professional forum? Is that not homophobic? And then that he is offended that women might be worried about sexually assaults because he’s a nice bloke? What a total nob head,

Calyx72 · 28/07/2022 16:36

Oh yes you're right. Well spotted.
Of course trans people "exist". It's the issues between trans rights and women's rights that are the cause of the discussion. Why feel the need to comment "trans people exist"?

Because there is a lobby that bruits that their existence is denied. Sheer repetition has produced the somnolent belief that this must be true so people don't even think to validate that the claim is accurate.

The diversionary claim itself is sufficient demonstration of underdog status that it switches on emotion and turns off rationality.

stealtheatingtunnocks · 28/07/2022 23:47

“Trans people exist!”

yes. We are aware.

in other news, “the sun rises in the east!” “Sex selected abortion and infanticide of female infants is a thing!” And “men who describe themselves as feminists tend to be a bit of a nob”

this Nb student person - he chaired some meeting and AMcK thanked him for it? I remember being surprised that a student would be chairing anything. I mean. Students. Am be brilliant and inspiring and capable, but they can also lack experience and authority and need reassurance that they exist.

why do students who don’t have a special gender thing not get featured?

Greycatwhitepaws · 28/07/2022 22:18

I believe the Louie who has commented is the "woman" in this previous article. I remember seeing "her" photo in the magazine. Lots of talk about pronouns and gender neutral toilets www.csp.org.uk/frontline/article/year-profession-progress

Where is the statement page? On iCSP?

Calyx72 · 28/07/2022 12:16

I love the cartoon, it's exactly right.

The problem is that TW are male
Males are the danger
It's problematic to point this out as the party line is TWAW
TRAs will never admit that TW and males are the same thing physically and biologically (some more than others)

I have made the same point on that thread as I have in my own, about CSP/health professionals needing to be above belief and politics discussions and just treat everyone with dignity and respect

This is SO patronising: "You refer to changing rooms, what is the concern? If you are concerned with a transwomen being present because they might make sexual advances or worse, are you also concerned that a lesbian may be in the same space too? Do you see the point? You are confusing gender identity and sexual orientation."

And naturally he ends it with "whilst I disagree with your points so far, I am a feminist and in no way want to take away from the struggles women have..."

Reminds me of this cartoon

There is quite an essay from a self-proclaimed feminist man on the statement page now. Comes out with the old trope of "why don't you want trans women in changing rooms, do you want to ban lesbians too?" Which completely misses the point that lesbians don't usually harass or assault women - men do!

In the screenshot posted earlier today, the writer claims Allison Bailey is a QC (unless I misread it). I'm sure she's not. Small point in the scheme of things but details need to be correct else we'll be pilloried by certain people.

Agreed

That's encouraging. Though the comments on the page with the council statement disagree with the GC poster.

8 people watching that thread, @Calyx72

5 of them liking the posts.

None of them disliking the posts.

None of them commenting.

I wonder what the usual engagement is on iCSP?

Calyx72 · 27/07/2022 13:49

"“Organisations who put ‘Stonewall Law’ before Equality Law or seek to silence others from lawfully voicing their criticism of Stonewall may be acting unlawfully & will suffer the consequences, even if Stonewall does not”

Allison Bailey on Twitter today following her succeeding in her case against her employer.

Silencing discussion / concerns about Stonewall’s influence is exactly what happened on the previous thread, citing ‘transphobia’ - see message in my original post.

Will the CSP now rethink and allow respectful and professional discussion on these issues even if trans or gender nonconforming individuals or groups are unhappy or hurt because gender critical people are being allowed to speak their thoughts and concerns?
Would the CSP consider NOT becoming involved with political lobbying on behalf of one marginalised group over any other? As we are supposed to be impartial, to treat everyone with equal dignity and respect, to keep our personal opinions to ourselves and so on. "

I'm writing another post on it to that effect just now

like, @Calyx72 deleting a post by a member of a union/guverning body who wants to discuss the body’s relationship with an organisation which has misrepresented stuff to universities and has no expertise?

interestkng.

"6/ Organisations who put ‘Stonewall Law’ before Equality Law or seek to silence others from lawfully voicing their criticism of Stonewall may be acting unlawfully & will suffer the consequences, even if Stonewall does not.

#StonewallOut"

Allison on Twitter in that thread.

So here's hoping Stonewall are soon removed from CSP & NHS payrolls

Half an hour til Allison’s judgement. I’ve got a nervy belly.

Won against her employer but not against Stonewall themselves- employer guilty of discrimination using Stonewall advice so hard to see why she didn't win against Stonewall themselves
