Please sign into CSP and look at the new iCSP discussion "Stonewall and the CSP"

A great thread beginning and agreement that stonewall are problematic and women's rights are being overlapped by male rights

Then a HUGE ESSAY by a TRA

@vivariumvivariumsvivaria https://www.csp.org.uk/networks/diversity-networks/how-networks-operate

They don't sound that informal if they get to influence policy.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 06/08/2022 14:16

I can't work out who they are. They just look like an informal group.

The LGBT etc network seem a bit unhappy. twitter.com/csplgbtqia/status/1555476931688251392?s=21&t=8hPwgMhHb4cHs-Au8b1baw

That they can’t see that their last sentence on taking a zero tolerance approach to the oppression and marginalisation of all women is not possible while insisting that any discussion acknowledging the balance of competing needs of women and trans identifying people is transphobic.

I’m concerned that this group are going to push and push at the csp to move further towards a trans centred rather than balanced approach.

They really are annoyed.

a good question, @Lovelyricepudding

id add, “is it reasonable to send a woman a physio who calls her a terf or Karen online”

Lovelyricepudding · 06/08/2022 09:14

Not a physio but how can physios claim men/women if a matter of feelings and provide safe care? If they fail to acknowledge the difference between sexes then how do they provide appropriate clinical treatment?

Sex matters post is well timed

thanks Maya!

id be very interested in knowing who is on the “iCSP team”.

or “Stasi” for short

Is this a new Sex Matters post?

Calyx72 · 03/08/2022 13:52

Thanks @stealtheatingtunnocks
it was all I could think of through my anger
Don’t expect it to help but maybe some will see and read it and realise they can’t just take sides like that

It's probably just some lackeys following instructions from higher up.

Jack has now commented on the GC thread so that's interesting.

MissyCooperismyShero · 01/08/2022 21:57

SLT here, and so sorry you guys are having to deal with this shite. Just wondered if you think CSP are aware that others are reading this stuff and tbh judging the profession based on this nonsense. It seems they feel that everyone agrees with the twaw premise. Can you link then to this thread, give them a heads up?

stealtheatingtunnocks · 01/08/2022 21:21

I am looking forward to Rob Yeldham explaining to our trans men members why “male” is transphobic…

RadFizz · 01/08/2022 15:34

Outrageous 🤬 Though perhaps not surprising since they said transphobia includes "the questioning of a transgender person's identity".

Maybe the usual suspects have complained behind the scenes rather than discuss it on the thread.

Calyx72 · 01/08/2022 12:55

CSP Moderators have removed text that they feel is transphobic from comments on the Trans Allies statement thread! Censorship again.

I had copied to PDF the thread the other day and I have checked the removed words, sentences and paragraphs:

"The classic question of ‘what is a woman?’ is very relevant here – a woman is an adult human female, no more or less. A woman can dress and behave in a ‘masculine’ way and she will still always remain a woman (adult human female). A man can be feminine and ‘less manly’ and will still always remain a man (adult human male). A man can have surgery to look like he has the secondary sexual characteristics of a woman, but he still remains male in every cell of his body. It is not transphobic to say this, it is biological fact.

A woman/man is who you are, not how you feel.

By saying that a man can feel like he is a woman, and by feeling like a woman he is actually a woman, this makes the word woman (describing an adult human female) completely meaningless.

(a male)

How can it be transphobic for a woman who is attracted to women to say they are not attracted to males?!

are male, and therefore

in exactly the same way that all other males are.

It is not transphobic to say that because trans women are male they should not be in single sex female spaces.

We haven’t even got on to the issues of males in womens sports, males on all women shortlists, males receiving nominations for ‘woman of the year’, how gender ideology is harming children etc etc. The basic point comes down to the fact that humans cannot change sex, however they feel about their sex or whether they feel they have a ‘gender identity’. It is disrespectful to all women to suggest otherwise.

because I acknowledge the reality that they are male

But that tiny minority of people feeling unhappy in their body should not mean that women’s rights to single sex spaces, single sex sports etc are negated."

I am shocked but not surprised. I can't even comment at the moment I am too angry.

Fucking amateurs wasting everyone’s time with virtue signalling. “No one is making that point, so, what is yours?”

interstingly, RM, JH and DB don’t seem to have commenter. Unless anonymous.

The no debate / celebrating brigade are out spouting thought terminating cliches.

It looks like Mike may be willing to listen to alternative points of view. But he's very busy so will come back to it later.

I shan't hold my breath...

I have written that it’s not the CSPs place to take a political stance, on the thread. Would be great to have some more comments agreeing/saying that. Not many have thumbs up’d it I think.

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 29/07/2022 12:07

I can't stand it and I'm not accepting it. I sat last night looking at how to have ea vote of no confidence in a union...

I genuinely wonder if it's legal for professional bodies to take a public stance like this.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 29/07/2022 11:59

@stealtheatingtunnocks - I've seen those films, Vaishnavi is a real talent. She's on twitter, is working on a stop motion one of trans widows.

Brave woman.

Courage calls...

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 29/07/2022 11:57

Thanks, @EmbarrassingHadrosaurus - I think that political signalling in this way goes against our professional guidelines, all bodies say that HCPs have to be neutral.

I have treated people from all walks of life, we all do routinely. I have been kind and compassionate towards people who have been rude and agressive to me, it is my training and the stuff that makes health care work.

Where do GC women go for healthcare now? We know that medical misogyny is an issue - surely none of us would refer a middle aged woman to someone who uses terms like "terf" or "karen" like fetish man ?

We are failing women. Excluding them.

I can't stand it and I'm not accepting it. I sat last night looking at how to have ea vote of no confidence in a union...
