Speaking to Times Radio, Mr Jenrick said: I think there's a matter of biology, of course, what is a woman. I mean absolutely, I agree with Liz Truss. That's the point that she's made in the past.

Undoubtedly, of course we want to ensure that those people who are trans can live their life comfortably.

I want everyone to be able to live their life the way they want to and be happy and to find love wherever they can do.

One does have to be aware of the impact on other people and that means we have to be particularly sensitive in terms of some of those settings that we as a government are responsible for like schools, like hospitals, like prisons.

One has to tread carefully and think through all of the consequences of this for other members of society.

And of course, the fact that the policy has to be challenged this way rather than killed off or never implemented in the first place is disgraceful and deeply depressing.

I am not suggesting that what I wrote means everything is hunky dory by any means. First, reading that judgment I detect a lack of enthusiasm for the decision the judges have felt compelled to give. This does not read to me like a sweeping endorsement of the current orthodoxy. Second, I think that the implicit warning to HMPPS is an indication that they are expected to perform the assessments and data gathering that render the policy lawful impeccably, so that natal women do receive the protection to which they are entitled. Third, HMPPS will never manage to do that, so not only are individual challenges likely, they will (I hope) kill this awful policy off by showing that the reality is simple: women cannot be protected mentally or physically while this policy is in place so TW should be housed entirely separately.

I said (slightly paraphrased):

I am moved to write with the utmost concern regarding the unfolding situation for women's spaces. You will likely be aware of this week's case allowing transgender males to be housed in female prisons.

This case has pushed the question of single sex services back to government. Judges acknowledged the harm to women of allowing transgender males (trans women) into women's prisons, but declared it lawful.

The Government's new LGBT Champion (Lord Herbert) says its' a 'culture war' that government shouldn't pick a side on.

Please can I urge you to speak up on these matters. Taking a side on this issue is required as a moral imperative. This government cannot allow women's spaces to be infiltrated by males identifying as women. Spaces include not just prisons, but in sports, rape and domestic violence refuges, toilets etc.

Has anyone got a good template to use to write to MPs? I wouldn’t know what to write apart from - What the actual hell is happening...

If it can be so openly stated by the judiciary that the protection of women from sex offenders can be abandoned in favour of the demands of these criminals wanting access to their victims for validation purposes, then who is going to hold the line for children's safety.
