Can't see a thread about this, which has enraged me this morning - Fox bragging (on a JKR tweet to a child!) about beating up women

Flipping heck. I've seen the TRA you mentioned on Twitter American, but never made the link about their name 😮

I used to report a lot of the abusive comments, use of "terf" etc on Twitter (and generally had the reports upheld, though it seems to take a very long time till they respond). But lately, unless they are particularly appalling towards an individual or something and really need to be taken down, I'm more inclined to let them stand and show the world who they are...

God. If this is genuine... what awful people some TRAs are.

It's genuine. The Twitter account goes back a decade and documents all Fox's MMA career and TRA activism.

And, of course most sporting bodies which permit this won't have any testosterone testing at an amateur or semi-pro level so (potentially and in real life examples) some women/girls will never get the chance to reach the professional level because they compete against men.

They don't have to be legally a woman (though obviously that makes it much harder to refuse), it varies by sport. Many of them simply require sreduced level of testosterone.

I seem to recall that one of the two big weight lifting federations in America is completely self-ID with no restrictions.

Unfortunately it is absolutely true. You may wish to Google the following names - Rachel McKinnon, Hannah Mouncy, Laurel Hubbard, Kate Weatherley, Maxine Blythine (plays for Kent Women's cricket team, has a batting average better than Don Bradman, was voted cricketer of the year last year).

Ken fairplayforwomen.com have a lot of resources on this subject, also WPUK had a big London meeting last year. Many sports are allowing trans women to compete according to chosen gender rather than biological sex including rugby and cricket. Many studies showing that transitioning has very little impact on advantages in strength etc acquired during male puberty

This is allowed in the sport so any man (including presumably Mike Tyson) who fully (?) transitioned to a women could fight natal women?

And this last question, is that also true?

oh "aggressively dogpiled" above is understating it of course - it should be understood to encompass the usual TRA treatment of death threats, rape threats, real-life harassment and attempted professional cancellation.

Not necessarily. Going by the statistics as a whole, it's likely Fox has not had their male genitalia removed.

Is legally a woman?

I'm not sure whether the Gender Recognition Act 2004 has a counterpart in the US. I think it might be a more piecemeal approach of changing individual documents.
