@thinky sorry no tips I'm afraid, it's very much a visual thing for me and a whole lot of trial and error!
In grids like today's Hard, I always look at the corners and see what options there are, and start from there.
Sometimes it's helpful where the grid requires 5 of the same number, so you look at the available Pips which contain that number.
Sorry not much help but I'm not very good at explaining what I mean 🙈
